Sadly Norfleet didn't represent many yards, or catches, or TDs. He didn't represented a huge chuck of the offense or a viable winning strategy.
He represented hope, that we could maybe catch lightning in a bottle. Hope that we'd have a homerun threat on every touch of the ball, despite all his shortcomings. Hope that we we never out of a game, as long as we had a kickoff coming our way.
I hoped Norfleet would be great. In truth, he never was.

Chris Perry. Has there ever been a Heisman finalist who has been forgotten so quickly by a fan base?
Then there's also the Denard factor. I recall some people saying they couldn't wait til he left. Several seasons have passed... how many truly EXCITING moments of UM football have there been since Shoelace left.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||The argument of "3:30 games||
The argument of "3:30 games absorb my afternoon" is different than "Noon games let me get UM football out of the way so I can watch other games".
|4 weeks 3 days ago||"Noon games forever. That way||
"Noon games forever. That way i can get home very early evening to watch other games on ESPN. I personally don't like the night games."
^^^ This explanation makes it sound like watching UM is a hassle, and something you want to get over and done with as quickly as possible.
Complaining that our games being late interferes with your ability to watch OTHER games, irks the hell out of me.
Michigan games should be in the national spotlight. If you want to watch games at noon on ESPN U, root for Rutgers.
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Also...||
Also... when the hell did the Utah game become a Thursday night game?
That's a shitty move for all the people who wanted to take that long weekend to head out to Utah. Don't think I can now take two work days off **before** a long weekend in order to make a shittily scheduled game.
I'd be more worried about that than it being a night game.
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Not sure I understand everyone's bias...||
Not sure I understand everyone's bias against non-Big House night games?
What is the downside? National spotlight. Watch the games in the evenings.
I'd rather this than any noon game.
Once again, I'm speaking about non-home games. For our home slate, one night game is enough. Though don't know if Maryland is a big enough name.

To echo a bunch of others, the initial idea wasn't bad.
But then it got taken to the Dave Brandon-esque overkill extreme.
Execution is everything... just ask betamax, hd-dvd, and friendster.

|25 weeks 1 day ago||Seriously. We need to end||
We need to end this 2 month long charade.
Everyone knows it including Hoke.
This needs to be done YESTERDAY!
|28 weeks 2 days ago||"He thinks Coach Hoke will be back if he manages to beat OSU...||
"He thinks Coach Hoke will be back if he manages to beat OSU and finish 7-5."
|29 weeks 5 days ago||Yep, this sounds like the end...||
They tried to find a way to defend it but...
|33 weeks 2 days ago||It DOES serve a purpose though...||
I'm not here to play "woulda, coulda, shoulda" because it's not productive to us. The past is the past.
I DO think threads like these serve a purpose for the NEXT coaching hire to remind us that, hey, maybe it wasn't him who didn't succeed, maybe it was us who failed him.
Whoever the next coach is, we need to put them in a position to win. If he's a spread guy or an outsider, the "Michigan Man/Carr/Hoke" contingent needs to support them and put them in a position to win, not to split the fanbase and start the countdown clock the first season.
The reason RR's succeeding at Arizona, and didn't at UM, has nothing to do with talent or resources (because we have more of both), and has everything to do with trust and allowing the coach to focus on what they do best...coaching. Not politics or history and making sure he acts like the previous coach.

Hoke hates headsets because he hates listening to anyone else. Simple as that

I just started dating someone new in the middle of the summer. Was very much looking forward to introducing her to Michigan football and making her a fan.
I now might wait until next season.
|35 weeks 7 hours ago||Let's face it...||
Let's face it, Hoke is punting on 2014 season.
He's trying to prep Morris to save his hide in 2015, if he's still around.
I just worry about Morris coming in to this tire fire of an offense and having his confidence shattered.

But, but, but... Sugar Bowl
|35 weeks 5 days ago||I agree||
At this point, I basically see large blocks of open sections at every major program. It's been this way for the last few years.
I used to the feel the same way about the Yankees for big games, but last week when they played the Red Sox, tix on Stubhub were selling for $13, which is unheard of for such a big rivalry (even if they're both not making the playoffs).
This is sports wide problem.
|36 weeks 5 days ago||EXACTLY. That's the problem...||
"There's definitely more of the "admire him as a person" than the "he's a X's and O's guru" type of views, but just the same, it's not like people don't respect him."
EXACTLY. That's the problem, they're talking about him the way women talk about guys they would never actually date. That's what people are saying about Hoke, he's a "nice guy" but if you'd ask any of them if they'd hire him for their program, it'd be a loud HELL NO.
"Admire him as a person" is the equivalent of saying that the UM program has a "nice personality". We're not going to reach the top with nice guys who arent good coaches.
|37 weeks 4 days ago||Awesome||
Will be reaching out to you directly!
|37 weeks 4 days ago||CRAP!||
I just found out I'm going to be in Chicago this weekend and wanted to head down and get some last minute tickets.
Anyone want to split a pair so that I'm not the sole UM'er in a sea of domers?
|38 weeks 5 days ago||I've definitely yelled this||
I've definitely yelled this MANY times at the TV.
|40 weeks 5 days ago||Disappointing||
I always thought UW fans were always the most fun fans to come to the big house. The competition was big enough, but without all the pure hatred rhetoric of the rivalry games. Also going to Camp Randal is always a blast

Also, I have never seen Scarface, Casino, or Good Fellas.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Seconded.||
Seconded. Want him to. In my deepest heart of hearts. But I do not think abandoning the spread is the future of college football.
|1 year 23 weeks ago||Comparing it to backup QB situation...||
Comparing it to backup QB situation doesn't make sense since you actually WANT two RB options. Arguing whether Green or Smith is slightly better than the other is not a good use of time since if they're both good, they'll both see the field a lot.
Anyone remember Reggie Bush and Lendale White at USC?
|1 year 25 weeks ago||The day you accept less than||
The day you accept less than perfection, is the day you begin accepting mediocrity.
I will never, ever root against the maize 'n blue. But I will also never root for moral victories and to only lose by less than 14 points as this regime currently seems to accept. If that's what you deem to be a true fan, then I'm not the problem.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Dylan, same boat as you. I||
Dylan, same boat as you. I want what's best for Michigan in the long run... and if it means starting over... again. So be it.
That said, I dont want it to come to that. Beat Ohio!
|1 year 25 weeks ago||What if...||
What if... and just hear me out...
What if, we stopped being lazy and falling back on the "We're Michigan" logic to win games and actually... ya know... got coaches who would give us competitive advantages and maybe demand they actually play to our strengths rather than our glaring weaknesses?
Saying "We're Michigan" is just as effective as throwing our helmets on the field and expecting to win. This is why we can't seem to buy a win versus Sparty or Brutus.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Didn't want him replaced...||
Didn't want him replaced, just wanted him to get his head out of his a** when it came to sticking with what clearly isn't working.
Though after reading this press conference, I'm might be changing my mind.
