"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."

These posts are great...
For people who have suffered extremely short term memory loss caused by an accident of some sort.

This is why pre-season polls should be disallowed.
Zero people have OSU and MSU as having top 4 seasons to this point. Yet, no one wants to penalize unbeaten teams.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Why is everyone so mad?||
Holy crap, people are allowed to pick against us. It's a fairly logical pick given our recent road woes... and yes, Harbaugh. But for now, I don't get all butthurt when someone picks against us in a tough road game to open the season.
Lets win and prove people wrong. But enough with the F yous and theats of ass eatings.

So what he's saying is that RichRod should have gotten a 4th year?

Went from sitting in a bar in Brooklyn, to running with the bulls in Pamplona about 96 hours later.
Went to drinks at the bar with a friend and her boyfriend. She mentioned her job was sending her to Spain for work. I said, funny, the Running with the Bulls starts this week.
A couple drinks later, I'm slurringly telling them that I'm going home now to book my flight, and they PROMISE that if i fly out, we'll go.
Well, they kept their promise. We ran with the bulls and I survived.
|23 weeks 4 days ago||Yeah, you always have time to||
Yeah, you always have time to add role players... after you add the playmakers.
I don't get this strategy... but in Harbaugh I trust.
|28 weeks 3 days ago||Sadly...||
Sadly Norfleet didn't represent many yards, or catches, or TDs. He didn't represented a huge chuck of the offense or a viable winning strategy.
He represented hope, that we could maybe catch lightning in a bottle. Hope that we'd have a homerun threat on every touch of the ball, despite all his shortcomings. Hope that we we never out of a game, as long as we had a kickoff coming our way.
I hoped Norfleet would be great. In truth, he never was.

Chris Perry. Has there ever been a Heisman finalist who has been forgotten so quickly by a fan base?
Then there's also the Denard factor. I recall some people saying they couldn't wait til he left. Several seasons have passed... how many truly EXCITING moments of UM football have there been since Shoelace left.
|31 weeks 1 day ago||The argument of "3:30 games||
The argument of "3:30 games absorb my afternoon" is different than "Noon games let me get UM football out of the way so I can watch other games".
|31 weeks 1 day ago||"Noon games forever. That way||
"Noon games forever. That way i can get home very early evening to watch other games on ESPN. I personally don't like the night games."
^^^ This explanation makes it sound like watching UM is a hassle, and something you want to get over and done with as quickly as possible.
Complaining that our games being late interferes with your ability to watch OTHER games, irks the hell out of me.
Michigan games should be in the national spotlight. If you want to watch games at noon on ESPN U, root for Rutgers.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||Also...||
Also... when the hell did the Utah game become a Thursday night game?
That's a shitty move for all the people who wanted to take that long weekend to head out to Utah. Don't think I can now take two work days off **before** a long weekend in order to make a shittily scheduled game.
I'd be more worried about that than it being a night game.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||Not sure I understand everyone's bias...||
Not sure I understand everyone's bias against non-Big House night games?
What is the downside? National spotlight. Watch the games in the evenings.
I'd rather this than any noon game.
Once again, I'm speaking about non-home games. For our home slate, one night game is enough. Though don't know if Maryland is a big enough name.
|35 weeks 4 days ago||To echo a bunch of others...||
To echo a bunch of others, the initial idea wasn't bad.
But then it got taken to the Dave Brandon-esque overkill extreme.
Execution is everything... just ask betamax, hd-dvd, and friendster.

|51 weeks 6 days ago||Seriously. We need to end||
We need to end this 2 month long charade.
Everyone knows it including Hoke.
This needs to be done YESTERDAY!

"He thinks Coach Hoke will be back if he manages to beat OSU and finish 7-5."
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Yep, this sounds like the end...||
They tried to find a way to defend it but...
|1 year 7 weeks ago||It DOES serve a purpose though...||
I'm not here to play "woulda, coulda, shoulda" because it's not productive to us. The past is the past.
I DO think threads like these serve a purpose for the NEXT coaching hire to remind us that, hey, maybe it wasn't him who didn't succeed, maybe it was us who failed him.
Whoever the next coach is, we need to put them in a position to win. If he's a spread guy or an outsider, the "Michigan Man/Carr/Hoke" contingent needs to support them and put them in a position to win, not to split the fanbase and start the countdown clock the first season.
The reason RR's succeeding at Arizona, and didn't at UM, has nothing to do with talent or resources (because we have more of both), and has everything to do with trust and allowing the coach to focus on what they do best...coaching. Not politics or history and making sure he acts like the previous coach.

Hoke hates headsets because he hates listening to anyone else. Simple as that

I just started dating someone new in the middle of the summer. Was very much looking forward to introducing her to Michigan football and making her a fan.
I now might wait until next season.
|1 year 9 weeks ago||Let's face it...||
Let's face it, Hoke is punting on 2014 season.
He's trying to prep Morris to save his hide in 2015, if he's still around.
I just worry about Morris coming in to this tire fire of an offense and having his confidence shattered.

|1 year 10 weeks ago||I agree||
At this point, I basically see large blocks of open sections at every major program. It's been this way for the last few years.
I used to the feel the same way about the Yankees for big games, but last week when they played the Red Sox, tix on Stubhub were selling for $13, which is unheard of for such a big rivalry (even if they're both not making the playoffs).
This is sports wide problem.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||EXACTLY. That's the problem...||
"There's definitely more of the "admire him as a person" than the "he's a X's and O's guru" type of views, but just the same, it's not like people don't respect him."
EXACTLY. That's the problem, they're talking about him the way women talk about guys they would never actually date. That's what people are saying about Hoke, he's a "nice guy" but if you'd ask any of them if they'd hire him for their program, it'd be a loud HELL NO.
"Admire him as a person" is the equivalent of saying that the UM program has a "nice personality". We're not going to reach the top with nice guys who arent good coaches.

|1 year 12 weeks ago||CRAP!||
I just found out I'm going to be in Chicago this weekend and wanted to head down and get some last minute tickets.
Anyone want to split a pair so that I'm not the sole UM'er in a sea of domers?
