Tim Tebow(!) wants you to choose Michigan, Devin. Go blue!
December 8th, 2010 at 1:42 AM ^
Never seen anyone catch the ball away from his body so naturally. Would love to see him catching passes in Michigan Stadium next year.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:46 AM ^
Get yourself Blue big boy! We want you here.
I'm in Carlsbad, CA and you need to be in Ann Arbor, enrolled in school soon.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:51 AM ^
I graduated from Torrey Pines back in '02. I'm glad to see there are other North County San Diego people on Mgoblog.
And yes, the future Devin-to-Devin match-ups are endless! Our helmets have wings!!!
December 8th, 2010 at 1:53 AM ^
Devin reads this blog, eh? Let's hope he hasn't stumbled across any meltdowns on the subject of something that rhymes with "poaching mange."
Go Blue, Devin!
EDIT: Also, I don't know anything about the level of competition or how to judge things like technique or route running, but holy balls that's an impressive highlight film. When you score literally every time you touch the ball, that's good, right?
December 8th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
Kid seems pretty sick... I like his ability to run after the catch and seems to have good hands/body control. Hope he goes blue.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
The only thing wrong with the video is the guys stiff-armed to the ground were not wearing a Buckeye uniform
December 8th, 2010 at 9:00 AM ^
Soon hopefully it will be a player in a Buckeye uniform.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
Can't see the highlights (iPhone) but I'm sure he'd look great in the winged helmet. Go Blue!
December 8th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
Holy shit he's fast. He NEEDS to come to michigan!
December 8th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
Come to Ann Arbor Devin!!!!!
December 8th, 2010 at 1:47 AM ^
We lose our top 3 outside WRs after next year (Stonum, Hemingway, Odoms) and Je'Ron Stokes only has one year of eligibility after next year. It's obvious how dynamic RichRod's offense is with true playmakers both in the slot and outside - both Stonum and Hemingway are over 500 yards this year.
IMO, one of the keys to keeping this offense in the top-10 nationally is the presence of playmakers on the outside.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:51 AM ^
me of David Terrel. David was great after the catch especially after catching the quick hitch route.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:34 AM ^
I hope he is anywhere near what Terrel was, pre Chicago Bears days.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:50 AM ^
Very good hands and catching ability...a true receiver
December 8th, 2010 at 1:52 AM ^
It is like his hands are magnets...the ball just seems to stick to them. I love the sportman handing of the ball to the ref after the touchdown...speaks of good character
December 8th, 2010 at 1:55 AM ^
This kid's a beast! Hope to see you in the winged helmet next year, Devin!
December 8th, 2010 at 2:00 AM ^
I'm not sure at all how this translate into football speed (i.e. is this a fast time for a high schooler?) but he seems like a burner. It seemed like every highlight was a streaks play with him just flat outrunning guys. Hope he's running those fly patterns for us soon.
December 8th, 2010 at 6:40 AM ^
denard is a legit 4.3
avery walls (whose also D1 bound in track) runs a 4.4 flat
4.9 speed is good, but nothing spectacular, which in this video means he has a supernatural burst, and amazing vision across the field.
December 8th, 2010 at 7:03 AM ^
He runs a 4.49, not a 4.9
December 8th, 2010 at 9:23 AM ^
4.9? Why the heck wasn't I recruited as a receiver out of high school than!? I knew I had what it took for the big time.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:33 AM ^
I'd guess around a 4.5, like his time says Not a complete burner but definitely faster than his competition now. Good speed overall obviously. Really liked his natural catching ability, extremely smooth. Fantastic route runner as well. Love this kid.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:01 AM ^
Always catches with the hands. Devin also seems much faster in this 2nd video
December 8th, 2010 at 2:03 AM ^
Just catches the ball so flawlessly, great hands.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:05 AM ^
Great highlights. Yes, we do need that type of beasting here in Ann Arbor.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:10 AM ^
Where does he sign?
December 8th, 2010 at 2:22 AM ^
I just had visions of sugar plums and roses!
Those were some of the best highlights I have seen in a long time... I see the number 1 in this guys future.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:23 AM ^
He's definitely legit. Great hands, good size, GREAT body control on the jump ball and he is deceptively fast for his size. He would be a very good pickup for Michigan.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:28 AM ^
Maybe I'm getting old, but that music is tough to stomach :) Devin is a hell of a player though.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:30 AM ^
Pretty impressive champ. Hope to see you in a winged helmet next year.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:36 AM ^
the kids good, the kids good.. Now hopefully he wants to play like that in front of the biggest audience there is, streaking down the field with maize wings on his head! Go Blue!
December 8th, 2010 at 2:37 AM ^
December 8th, 2010 at 2:40 AM ^
we are going to (hopefully) have so many D's starting on offense the next few years.. i love it
December 8th, 2010 at 2:43 AM ^
Devin throws the ball to Devin, Devin catches the ball and runs down the sideline for a touchdown! Devin runs down the field to celebrate with Devin, as Devin jumps in the air to chest bump Devin.
December 8th, 2010 at 5:50 AM ^
Devin, Devin, and Dee
December 8th, 2010 at 6:45 AM ^
Denard, Devin and Dee is version 1.0
December 8th, 2010 at 2:52 AM ^
The only perscription is more cowbell!
Nice highlights...
December 8th, 2010 at 3:04 AM ^
IIRC he is something like the #27 receiver according to one site and like 150 something according to another. I find it really difficult to believe there are 26 better WR's in the country let alone 150 some. I'm not saying he's the best but man, I really can't see many others having a better combination of Devin's talents. The way he catches with his hands and high points the ball, his yac, his SPEED, his stiff arm, etc. His tape looked an awful lot like Braylonfest.
The truth is that I'm not even saying this because I want to stroke his ego or sway him to go Blue but I found those highlights impressive as hell. He looks like the kind of player can make plays that make you say "why don't we just throw it to him every time?" As dangerous as the offense is now and will be next year, having a kid like Devin... man, it's almost too scary to think about.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:39 AM ^
When I seen his junior film I couldn't belive how low he was rated as a receiver. Seeing these highlights shows me he has even put in some work since then. His speed is good but thats not why hes getting open.. he runs grat routes..look how open he gets and how easily he does it. The D's are constantly rolling coverage his way but he kills them so effortlessly. I would bet the recruiting websites are holding that 4.49 40 against him pretty hard. But there are a bunch of receivers in the Hall that ran that speed so w/e.The tools are all there with this kid, I think h just needs to keep putting in the work and he will get to wherever he wants t be. Would love to see you go Blue Devin, I think you could do some special things with the weapons this offense would already have around you.
December 8th, 2010 at 3:09 AM ^
The stiff arm on the first highlight was all I needed to convince me we need this talent, now! He's like a Steve Breaston-Braylon Edwards hybrid. This kid was born to fly, so lets dawn him with the winged helmet

Here are some of Devin's stats. I'm not sure if they are updated or accurate.

It would be awesome if Devin came to play in AA. Also I like to see kids from So Cal play for Michigan.

Always like to see a guy outrun the entire defense. Looks like he's got good hands too. Could use an outside WR like this in the upcoming class.

I only had time for the first highlight, but two guys stiff-armed, and then outrunning everyone? Impressive.

I read the news earlier today that verbal commit WR Conway was going to have to go the JUCO route. We all know what usually happens to kids that want to play at Michigan, but have to go the JUCO route - they rarely make it on campus.
Now I see that WR Lucien has high interest in Michigan! The class of 2011 sure seems to have a good group of WRs! What a great couple highlight tapes I've watched already on Devin. Hopefully there will be a highlight tape for Michigan WR Devin Lucien's All American season in 2014 or 2015! Would be awesome to have another Heisman winner from the WR position!
Looking forward to a number of "Hello:xxx" posts to read before Christmas! GO BLUE!!

Devin, buddy.....how do you feel about dreads?
