My top 5:

1) Freddie Mercury; setting aside range, control, dynamic, tone, etc., what puts him at the top for me is his incredible diversity. I'm not sure anyone else on the planet could have pulled off his catalog.

2) Jeff Buckley

3) Chris Cornell

4) Jackie Wilson

5) Roy Orbison

If you've listened to his

If you've listened to his work on Temple of the Dog and still stand by that, I don't know what to tell ya. Cornell was on another planet.

To be honest I'm not sure

To be honest I'm not sure what being a famous alum has to do with it.  The idea is to hire the best coach, not the most popular one.  And I would argue that Loeffler's coaching credentials at the time were better than Harbaugh's.  By 2002 he'd already strung together a very impressive resume: Griese, Brady and Henson.  Furthermore, success as a player does not guarantee success as a coach.

Well this was in 2002 and

Well this was in 2002 and Harbaugh's only experience was an unpaid gig with Jack at WKU.  It was something like one year removed from his pro career.  Loeffler was pretty clearly the right choice at the time.

I resonded to you earlier in

I resonded to you earlier in one of the many deleted posts, but I'm fairly certain it has something to do with Lloyd passing Harbaugh over for Loeffler back in 2002 and Harbaugh's comments in 2007.

There's something endearing

There's something endearing about a guy taking all his threes from well beyond the NBA line.  Especially whent that guy is 5'11 and has a knack for making them.

Definitely beating Ohio State

Definitely beating Ohio State in 2011, the first UTL is a close second, though.  And if we're talking about our favorite 'moments,' then I might include his initial presser.  I was ready to run through a wall when he started pounding the podium.

Ah yeah, I remember that now.

Ah yeah, I remember that now.  I must have selectively forgotten it.

I honestly don't understand

I honestly don't understand the Shaw hype. He had a few good seasons riding Harbaugh's coat tails, but Stanfords been on a downward trajectory ever since.

And yet there is still a

And yet there is still a team.  There are still players that need direction, recruits that need to be contacted, and assistants that need to be lead.  I won't pretend to know how the football team is run, but I don't think a head coach's responsibilities end when there are no more games on the schedule.

Certainly, so far so good.

Certainly, so far so good.  Let's just hope the second part of this transition is conducted with similar finesse.

Agreed.  Hopefully this means better things for both the University and Coach Hoke.

Good luck, Coach, wherever

Good luck, Coach, wherever you may go.  I'm truly sorry it didn't work out.

I'm not sure that's

I'm not sure that's necessarily true.  I assume somebody has to be in charge of the team if Hoke is fired.  Perhaps they won't be given the 'interim' title, but they'll certainly have all the responsibilities.

Congrats to Coach Rod.  It's
