So This Puts Us in the Citrus Bowl vs. Florida?
MSU has a lot of experience losing in the Final Four, so it'll be nice to see the football team take their turn. So as I see it, this means:
- MSU in the National Semifinal vs. Clemson or Alabama (once again - you've got one job, Saban)
- OSU in the Rose Bowl vs. Stanford
- Iowa in some other New Year's Six bowl
- Michigan vs. Florida (or maybe LSU) in the Citrus Bowl

Oh, I can already see it. Clemson either stays #1 while State slides in at #4, or Clemson somehow drops due to the close finish while State leapfrogs Oklahoma for not playing. I swear it's gotta be one or the other, a scenario where State plays Alabama or Oklahoma in the semifinal is just cosmically locked out because of course it is, why wouldn't it be this season. They'll blast Clemson and then come in with a head of steam and pull off a stunner against the Sooners or Tide.

I think Rudock can score on them with 3 weeks prep. Not light the world up, but he can get a couple of TDs and a turnover get us field position for a 3rd TD.

Prediction: We win our bowl game on New Year's Day. Sparty loses whoever they play in the CFP. We happy, they not. Funny thing about football.

Look at my thought above.
If we go 10-3 and beat Florida by 3 scores (which is possible because they can't score on anyone).
And Bama takes MSU behind the woodshed (which is possible because you can't run on Bama)
Sure they made the play, they had the better year, but I'd feel good about it. I can't brag and say we had the better year. But it would be nice.
Neither team would've won a national championship so fuck it...go beat an SEC team and root for Bama to beat the breaks off Sparty. Then pray Bama loses in the NC game.

Sure, I'd rather see OU or Clemson win than see Bama win, but I don't give a fuck.
Nothing else exists except those fuckers losing. If that can somehow, some way happen, i'll actually get to enjoy some games. I sure as hell won't be asking for any additional favors, I can tell you that.

God, I hope. I've been thinking about such a scenario. The end of the 2012 season gives me hope. It's not a perfect parallel, that year Michigan was coming off a "decent" 8-4 with tight losses to good teams while State had a pretty bad season but squeaked into a bowl, whereas this year Michigan had a "Nice job but please, future, get here" 9-3 season while MSU is headed to the Playoff.
The point is where they were during and after the bowl season; that year Michigan headed to Florida to play in a moderately high-profile New Year's Day bowl against an SEC foe and lost a heartbreaker, while MSU went to the who-gives-a-shit Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl against a down-year TCU some random weeknight the week after Christmas. They would switch from Andrew Maxwell to Connor Cook in that game, and he would earn the first of his countless, trademark, "Just find a way" comeback wins. They had the momentum going into 2013, Michigan kinda just remained in Hoke cruise control that offseason before reality reared its ugly head that fall. The difference between the paths taken by the two programs from that bowl season was stark. Momentum. Gotta get some, now. And MSU somehow catching a beatdown on New Year's Day would be helpful, too.

Projections I'm seeing have No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 4 Oklahoma, and No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 3 MSU. I like that.
And they all seem to have us in the Citrus vs. Florida. I like that, too. Very winnable game.
OSU is pissed they missed out on the Final Four, so they won't show up vs. Stanford. MSU will get jail-sexed by Alabama.
We end the season with a win. OSU and MSU end the season with losses. All is well heading into 2016.
