So This Puts Us in the Citrus Bowl vs. Florida?

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

MSU has a lot of experience losing in the Final Four, so it'll be nice to see the football team take their turn. So as I see it, this means:

- MSU in the National Semifinal vs. Clemson or Alabama (once again - you've got one job, Saban)

- OSU in the Rose Bowl vs. Stanford

- Iowa in some other New Year's Six bowl

- Michigan vs. Florida (or maybe LSU) in the Citrus Bowl

Am I right?

I was so hoping the corn eaters would steal it from them. The whiskey binge continues. Please someone defeat these guys before they win it all. First year OSU, second year MSU win the playoffs? Please if there is a god I beg of the, no. Please. No.

Sparty vs. Bama would be a lot closer than we would like to admit, or see for that matter, and they very could well beat Clemson. It's going to be an interesting playoffs, I could see any of the 4 winning it.

You can't have a weak secondary and expect to win the national championship, and Sparty's secondory certainly isn't strong.  They won't be able to run on Alabama and their secondary will get lit up by Clemson and Oklahoma.  Not saying Sparty has zero chance, just saying it doesn't look good for them.

Alabama hasn't looked that good in the past two weeks, they have to give Henry the ball 40+ times to win because Coker and the passing attack is uninspiring. Clemson is still Clemson until they truly show otherwise in my opinion, and Oklahoma lost to freaking Texas... None of these teams are world beaters which means anyone could win. State would be my 4th pick to win it all but I won't be surprised no matter who wins.

We let it get this way with RR and Hoke. If we had a solid team from 2008 to 2015 then they lose a few more games like 2008 or 2009 to us and they would have had an extra loss on the schedule.

The program momentum would have been lower that's for sure.  People talk shit about their classes but they stole LJ Scott from Urban.  Malik from us.  They have 3 wrs in the top 250 coming in next class and will most likely add Corley as the 4th.  Their DL class of 14/15 are among the best. They are getting real high * talent at top of their classes now because results lead to players wanting to be part of it.

Our lame ass dip (thanks Ed Martin) stoked the seeds of this nearly a decade ago.

Now its going to be a much more difficult process to stop them as they have the coaching acumen and are now going to get more NFL type athletes right out of HS.  The Big 10E is going to be a war until Dantonio exits in 5-6 years.  None of these 3 programs is going away and every year is going to be determined by these head to head matchups among the 3.

So in my eight years as a student in Ann Arbor, we have amassed...

-A losing Big Ten record (30-34 or .469)
-The single worst season in the history of Michigan football (my first year)
-Three seasons with 5 wins or less
-One win against OSU (1-7)
-One win against State (1-7)
-One single bowl victory (chance for two)
-One single 10+ win season (chance for two)
-No conference championships
-No division titles
-Three coaches
-We haven't won an outright conference championship since I was in middle school.
-We have beat OSU one time since I was in middle school.

Maybe when I get the fuck out of here, y'all can have nice things.

I wonder if this means that, if I go back and become a student again, we can get the success of the 1990s back since I was a student during that decade. Actually, to further test the theory, is there anyone else who was a student during the 1990s that would care to help me out? I think together we might even be able to bring back the hockey dominance too.

Dantonio is a good coach but has been given a decade to build a team.

They also turn 3 starts into NFL talent by feeding them horse hormones, its no secret.

Harbuagh had them beat in his first year with a team just learning what it takes to win.  Just wait until we have an O-line and a running game.  Their time is done, they lose Cook, their line, and the tide is about to turn.

13 people think Dantonio is a better coach than Harbaugh. Are people that stupid? One has a super bowl appearance and three nfc title games. I assume Mark is also better than belichick and Jesus.

I live in Portland, and I still run into Sparties chirping. Have one that lives down the street. Another couple of them work at a sandwich shop in my neighborhood. Don't go in there much anymore. Problem is, anyone who spent any time in Michigan before moving out here has now become HUGE Sparty fans the past few years. Used to be you would never see that stupid logo and now I see it everywhere. In freaking Oregon. Can't wait until they are shitty again and all the hats and bumper stickers disappear

I'm in PDX too. Just got home from Farrar's show at Aladdin w/one of my old Sparty friends. Last night he sent me an obnoxious drunken text re "why hasn't M ever made it to the BIG championship game?" Plus smack talk.

During State's down years he'd never watch the game w/me, and now that we're down its all smack, even tho I'm in the habit of sending him other Sparty relatives a short "nice win Sparty" text when they beat us or other important games. And offering to watch games w/him, even expecting a drubbing. (I was at M stadium for M/MSU this year...)

Expecting Sparty to stay classy is like expecting Trump to say something intelligent.

Sparty has a great coach, great program, but no class. None. I've long since given up hope of expecting more.
