|3 hours 45 min ago||Hey, it's almost 5 am on my fucking birthday||
and I still can't sleep, I'm so pissed off.
I don't agree with some of the late game decisions and Spike not calling a TO before throwing the ball away was particularly brutal - but there is no way I would have suggested the team could even be competitive if you had told me that on top of the three early departures, Caris and Walton would go down for the year.
This is a year where nothing has broken right. Our OOC competition has almost uniformly had very up and down years - these are the things you look for that often tell you if it's a good momentum or bad momentum season. Even last year when Stanford started ripping off wins, you could see that everything was breaking right all around us.
|5 hours 10 min ago||Because these are almost literally textbook young team losses||
everyone expects young teams to lose in precisely this sort of excruciating fashion.
You can blame who you want to blame, but in searching for the theme, it's more reasonable to look to the thing that has been true about young college basketball teams since I started watching the game 30 plus years ago - young teams struggle to close. "Crazy things" seem to happen to them regularly. I think literally every recognized college basketball expert would agre with this.
|5 hours 21 min ago||What madness has you applying lessons from the Ellerbe/Amaker||
years to our basketball present?
This is not a "brief high."
Everything is different and it's sad that you don't see that those years have literally nothing to do with our generally excellent present.
|6 hours 14 min ago||See, what you don't see in Dawkins||
tells me a lot about what you don't know about the game.
I expect Dawkins will be at least 2nd team all BIG before he's finished. Maybe 3rd team if the competition is that fierce.
|6 hours 26 min ago||Thank you for that BB reference||
that image is the first thing I've seen that appropriately captures my mood of disbelief and curse the gods level of disappointment.
You gave away the money, lol
|7 hours 18 min ago||Much more mad at our team||
but I agree about those calls. Those guys looked clueless and looked totally ready to pony up for the home crowd. Weak.
|7 hours 20 min ago||"Beilein is overrated"||
|7 hours 21 min ago||Young teams can't close games||
everyone who knows anything about college basketball knows this.
First you lose close, then you win close, then you win big,
It sucks that we're on a reset, but when you lose 5 guys early entry in two years and you don't recruit like all but about three teams in the country who can deal with that like it's nothing, you're on a reset.
No one gets a pass, but youth is far more the reason for late game collapses than bad coaching. Particularly when you have a guy who is universally recognized as a great coach. With that said, I cannot understand how no one can draw up a fucking inbounds play.
|7 hours 30 min ago||So you seriously don't understand that if you're not Duke or UK||
and you lose 5 players early entry in two years and your two best players are out for the year you're going to suck? Okay then, lol.
This is not a matter of a rebuild. This is a matter of an off year. All programs have them. Heck, even Kentucky had one.
Even fucking Duke had one, and Coach K just happened to have back problems that year.
|8 hours 32 min ago||My chest feels fucking tight||
that's my fucking snow flake.
Fuck this universe.
|8 hours 36 min ago||Don't you get that this happens to young teams ALL THE TIME?||
How the fuck do you think NW lost every last one of those games in a row?
Because this shit happens to young teams.
I hate it, this sucked, I hate that we didn't call timeout and instead turned the ball over, I wanted us to foul on the 3, that we can't diagram a fucking inbounds play is maddening, but saying "whether we're playing backup freshmen or 5th year seniors," as though you can just breeze over that - that's horse shit.
|8 hours 40 min ago||How the fuck am I supposed to sleep tonight?||
It's my birthday in 8 minutes. Fuck you, world.
|8 hours 41 min ago||It really is amazing, right?||
Some of the shit people say. He fucked up horribly by having Nik win the POY in the Big Ten. Holy fucking shit.
|8 hours 43 min ago||Or what you call "young team losses"||
this is the shit that happens when you have multiple kids on the floor who weren't supposed to even see action.
I tend to disagree with Coach B on all his late game principles (how many times do you need to get fucking savaged by a 3?) and the failure to draw up successful inbound plays is ABSURD, but to find the common theme as Coach B being on the sideline as opposed to the common theme being a team of 1st and 2nd year players on the court is to miss the point badly.
|8 hours 46 min ago||HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT IT'S FUCKING "LEVERT"||
holy fucking shit we've got some mensites around here.
Caris Fucking LeVert.
|8 hours 49 min ago||This is all accurate||
the people talking about firing Beilein, well, it's just laughable - too stupid to really even merit response, and shit is going to happen with a young team, but holy shit was that ridiculous. That took some serious fucking skills to blow that one.
|8 hours 57 min ago||That sounds about right for you||
you're watching Kentucky.
Man, this was depressing, but you are the worst fucking sports fan on Earth. Fucking lame.
|9 hours 2 min ago||This game just ripped my heart out and stomped it||
reanimated it, ripped it to shreds and fired the remains out of a cannon.
And fucking horse fucking shit Time Warner kept freezing during this fucking abomination.
I thought we wouldn't win going into the game, but to lose this way, JFC.
I don't even think it was the problem tonight, but we always start into our inbounds play too soon, which ruins the cuts.
And FOR FUCK'S SAKE call that fucking timeout if you're not certain there, and then foul the fucking guy before he drains a three.
My dog is having a fucking seizure. Thanks, world.
|1 day 22 hours ago||So||
paying 9.95 a month (or less with the deals they frequently run) is the dividing line. As opposed to most everyone else here who comes to this very site to obsessively discuss the same details.
Seriously, shut the fuck up, you faux moralizing twat bag.
|2 days 9 hours ago||Guy actually has an excellent, 3rd party verified track record||
I'd actually think about signing up if I could gamble legally online and if I could get past the hang up that - personally - I still don't have a good handle on betting mma events. Only sport I've ever lost money gambling on.
|2 days 13 hours ago||How do you think Purdue will be?||
I see they dropped their big early games, with the exception of T A&M - they seem to always be a tough out - any different this season?
|2 days 13 hours ago||"Leaving Value in Original Site's Reporting"||
Yes, and I think I land on the side of this site perhaps fudging a bit too much on that question.
Less really hewing to that principle, a little more what you see in this from Brian's "meta-premium information policy": "So what's the policy around here? Hell if I know, really."
Would you explain, as well, what Brian meant by: "I think it's actually worse for us legally to pull certain threads for counterintuitive DMCA reasons."
I didn't mean to suggest there was no moderation, but it sure sounds like a statement that an excess of moderator's discretion can lose you the Harbor - a key part of the DMCA Harbor is plausible deniability or just realistic deniability - you either don't moderate at all, or you make it clear that you can't catch everything, at least immediately.
If everything had to pass, for example, through your vetting process before getting posted, iirc that would boot you outside of the safe harbor.
But perhaps I misunderstood what was being said. Can you clarify the above for me?
|2 days 13 hours ago||Ha ha, very good one||
|2 days 14 hours ago||Lined either off her glove or her pitching hand||
the announcers kept insisting glove hand, but on my stream I couldn't tell.
She tried two practice pitches, but yanked them both pretty badly into the righty batter's box and I think Hutch thought better of it.
She may have just been shaken up - the ball that got her was stung pretty hard.
|2 days 14 hours ago||Oh, they were absolutely terrible - but perfectly genial||
one of them calls runs "points" and I'm laughing at the idea that one of them is the "color commentator," as neither seems to know much about the game, but they seemed like nice guys.
|2 days 14 hours ago||Betsa led the team out of the dugout||
and looked in good spirits during handshakes, so hopefully that's a good sign.
I do miss having a flamethrower - seems like the last one we had was Ritter - but Michigan certainly teed off on ASU's flamethrower when she came in.
|2 days 14 hours ago||Does Ramirez have Romo's range?||
Romo had great range over there - just wondering if we lose anything there.
