Richardson Tweet
97.1 was reporting TRich sent out a tweet saying something to the effect that if he didn't start next year(not likely) he was not coming.
I'm not a twitter guy so I don't know and I was shocked that I could not find a thread here so was the radio making stuff up? It seemed to get a lot of play on the radio.
Anybody know the real story?
Seems like a silly stance so I don't think it's a big deal, I guess I'm just more intrigued now because we didn't have a thread here.

I pulled a thread about this yesterday, but I guess if 97.1 is reporting it, we may as well discuss it.
Richardson tweeted (essentially) that he wanted to start, and that if they start talking about a redshirt, "it's a wrap." He then followed up a few minutes ago with this:

I'm glad that you pulled the thread. When it was originally tweeted he was obviously misunderstood. I still feel bad about posting it because he seems like a good kid with a sincere desire to be a great Wolverine.
Unfortunately for him, the rest of the world is not as level headed as most on this blog.

HAHAHA Terry Richardson's punctuation and sentence structure is mostly almost as bad as mine.

When people used to say "text messaging is destroying the English language," I scoffed. With Twitter, now I understand where they were coming from... and they may be right. #GetOffMyLawn

I hate twitter for this very reason. I actually heard today that the dept of education is considering removing cursive writing from grade school curriculum and I was about ready to turn my back on the world.
December 22nd, 2011 at 5:46 AM ^
but cursive is retarded, why on Earth would you want that to still be taught?
December 22nd, 2011 at 8:35 AM ^
The hardest part about the GRE is the paragraph they make you write in cursive before you begin the test. I'm glad that part wasn't timed.
December 22nd, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you are either in high school or an engineer. Other than that there's really no excuse for that. It's part of the English language and has been around for hundreds of years. Do you want your kids to have to use a translator to read a letter from their grandmother?

Well I mean there is a 140 character limit. I can't send a whole lot on my BB.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:10 PM ^
Based on what I think I'm reading, I hope he brings the attitude. As long as he's respectful, I think it's more of a fire (the good internal motivation kind) than anything else.
Now that it is out there, he's gonna have to back it up with hard work and perseverance. Either he makes the field because he carries that through practice every week, or he doesn't. If he does, it's all good because that means we've got a solid guy out there. If he doesn't, then he's got something to continue to work towards.
He's all Blue. Can't wait for him and the rest of the 2012 studs to get here. (And I'm looking at you, too, Diamond, Wright, Reeves and the as of yet unknown top 10 guy who will be the big surprise.)

After checking the board 3 times I went to the moderator action area and didn't see it there either so I was a little confused and even more intrigued that 97.1 may have completely jacked things up.
Unless he's going to div 3 that is a ridiculous statement so I didn't think it meant much. Apparently he cleared it up and it's all done. Good.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
I believe it was called "T Rich getting chippy" or something like that. It was a fair topic before, but something I would prefer to keep off the board unless it became a thing.
December 22nd, 2011 at 10:18 AM ^
Is reason to keep it OFF the board.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
to do S & C - I suspect he will have either a new-found attitude when he hits the practice field, or we will have a kick-ass DB who has proved his resolve and is going to earn a starting spot.
And yes, get the whole story, not just the single tweet. I think we should use twitter to black-ball people. After all, if they plan to be Michigan Men, they should be able to convey all of their thoughts in 140 characters.

Its very difficult to ascertain tone from tweets and other internet posts. This is a lesson learned daily on this very blog. He's a high school kid and I don't really think his social media musings really need to be analyzed. This was reinforced by his own claim that his Twitter is not for blogs. All in all this was an overly thought out post thats just trying to say, come on cut the kid some slack and let him be a high schooler.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
I saw this tweet last night as well. I didn't post anything because in the greater scheme of things I looked at it like a high school kid being a high school kid. I don't have any inside info other than I too saw the tweet. Only time will tell if this comes to fruition or not. Hopefully he works hard this winter and spring and shows up in the summer to dominate.

This is why we shouldn't stalk high school kids. Do you know how many things I said without thinking when I was 17 years old? Thank God we didn't have twitter and facebook back then.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
I don't even follow the kid on twitter and I saw it. It was re-tweeted by someone else and it really caught my eye. He certainly does have people stalking him for sure, but I'm not one of them. The biggest problem with twitter is the same thing that makes it a wonderful social tool - the degrees of separation are a lot closer than you would think they really are.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
I don't know anything about twitter. I only use it as a tool to entertain me while I'm pooping.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:48 PM ^
You don't have to stalk someone to see something that they post on twitter. Once it is out there, anyone can grab it. The same thing that makes it great, makes it a nightmare. It isn't all that difficult to follow. Jim Gaffigan can re-tweet something that Courtney Love said two minutes ago. Information is spread at the speed of stupid.

I read this thread because I thought "Richardson Tweet" was going to commit.
That would be one of the most internet-ready names EVAH.

NO MORE HIGH SCHOOL TWITTER FOLLOWING!!!
December 21st, 2011 at 9:45 PM ^
please Trich become the sweet midget corner we thought BooBoo was going to be, enough W/ the tweets everyone freaks out over.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:49 PM ^
I've said it before and I'll say it again I wish T-Rich would give up on the tweeting.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:50 PM ^
And trying to decipher what high school kids are trying to convey, using said social media network, sucks even more. No disrespect, and my opinion probably sucks as well to many, but I just don't love the concept of following teenagers and latching on to their words. When something controversial is tweeted (I hate myself for even typing that word), and this happens frequently enough, a drama filled soap opera begins in discussing said tweet; nobody wins.
December 21st, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
"Stupid as stupid does." Why keep posting his tweets?
December 21st, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
This was a good post. Keep it up.

We need a rule against mixing recruits' Tweets with Mgoblog unless you're Ace or someone.

same thread got deleted yesterday.

Maybe someone can make him aware of the last Cass Technician DB who went a bit "head strong". And dare I say Big Will has some huge shoes to fill next yr. So perhaps the Technician alumns should tone it down just a bit...eh? On the field guys...ON the field.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Or shut up. This is not little boy football. There are hundreds of young men playing this game that are as good or better than TR. Making demands like this are foolish, if in fact he made them. I am tired of these high school kids who are big fish in little ponds talking like they are college All Americans. Come and play and if you can cut it I'll listen.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
its pretty immature, but its to be expected from someone his age. a kid like this takes a look at all the offers he's gotten (alabama, lsu, oklahoma, usc, michigan, just to name a few), and wonders how he wouldn't get playing time. he'll learn pretty quick that mattison's going to make him earn every minute that he's out on the field, no matter how good he thinks he is.
but like i said, though, its a level of immaturity thats almost to be expected. i have no doubt that he'll be a great addition to our secondary.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:06 PM ^
The kid clarified what he meant and backed off the "wrap" part. Let him be. He's under a good coach at Cass Tech and by the time he leaves Michigan he will be both a player and person the University can be proud of.
December 21st, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
Whatever. He'll have to make his first tackle against a kid who's not going to lay down for him then reality will hit him either good or bad. What kid doesn't come in to college picturing themselves as a first game starter? Especially these days.
December 22nd, 2011 at 12:02 AM ^
I don't know if he's going to start, but I could definitely see him get some playing time if he works hard the next six months to put on a little bit of weight. Mattison does like to use some Nickel packages, so Richardson could be deployed as a ballhawking nickel back. I think it's unlikely that he becomes a starting corner right away with Floyd and Countess on it with several other experienced players ahead of him.
Terry may be confident or even arrogant and I liked that, but he's going to have to earn his spot. There's a lot to learn as far as defense at the college level. He won't be able to rely as heavily on his instincts.
I think he'll be a good one though.
December 22nd, 2011 at 6:16 AM ^
....but I sort of like the idea of having another Wolverine that's got some fire in their attitude, and as long as said fire is used to benefit the school and team and directed at our opponents, I can grow to like this kid. He just has to pass the "Point Test",I would imagine, and get playing time so he can back up the fire with data.
December 22nd, 2011 at 9:58 AM ^
I'm glad he cleared things up, and if his explanation is the truth then I love it. I like that his goal is to start from Day 1. Show us something TRich, nothing wrong with confidence.
December 22nd, 2011 at 10:34 AM ^
then they shouldn't tweet, fergodsakes. These kids don't understand what the word "social" means in "social media." Twitter and FB are public forums; it is literally impossible to prevent what you're writing and posting from making it into the outside world, and it's ridiculous to expect that the outside world won't pay attention. It's like putting up a huge billboard on your front porch and then getting irritated when people comment about what's on the billboard. If you don't want people to misinterpret your tweet, then don't fucking tweet. It's that simple.
