Reed to portal
This transfer is Warde's fault!
March 19th, 2024 at 11:42 AM ^
So we just won’t have a team next year?
March 19th, 2024 at 11:45 AM ^
Fab Five 2.0 needed.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:36 PM ^
More like Fab 10
March 19th, 2024 at 11:48 AM ^
Positive spin to coaching candidates: They'll have a clean slate to start with!
March 19th, 2024 at 12:32 PM ^
And low expectations.
March 19th, 2024 at 11:55 AM ^
We'll have 5 freshmen, 5 grad transfers, 5 walk-ons, and maybe Tschetter. Hopefully more than 5 wins, but we'd do well to win 5 conference games.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:37 PM ^
There's a mustachioed and goggle wearing "young man" from LA named Jimmy LeBron, and a new mustachioed and goggle wearing recruit from Iowa named Clark Cait, and also this phenom from Michigan wearing goggles and heavy application of just for men touch of gray named Howard Juan. The three of them are all being touted as NBA ready one-and-dones, but should help out the transition for Coach Novak's first season
Did we have one this year?
March 19th, 2024 at 11:43 AM ^
Thank you for trying Reed; best of luck wherever you end up.
The good news is that another scholarship is available for a player willing to come here and help fix the mess left behind.
March 19th, 2024 at 11:47 AM ^
I don't think there was going to be a shortage of those...
March 19th, 2024 at 11:49 AM ^
Ha, exactly. "Scholarship crunch" is preeeeeeeetty low on the list of problems.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:06 PM ^
We officially were bringing in 3 high school recruits over a 2 season span? We just lost one of them in GW3. Who are the adults in the room that were advising Juwan that this was the correct move? So many failures at so many levels including a previous head coach letting Juwan possibly go into next season with 4-5 scholarships unfilled? There was a zero % chance he was getting 10 wins + if he stayed and these transfers stayed with him.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:20 PM ^
To be fair, there were a couple transfers and recruits we could not bring in that was out of Juwan's control. There were a couple years under JB, that we were short a couple scholarships (or he added a flyer at the last minute).
March 19th, 2024 at 12:38 PM ^
He brought in 1 high school recruit last season. 1.
Bad luck be damned this incoming class should be 5 kids. All this shit happened last summer.
Spike being one of those that worked out quite nicely.
Are scholarship limits even an issue? Brian brought this up re football. I assume, but I don't know, that like in football NIL has made scholarship limits all but meaningless in basketball. Just sign as many guys as you want and give NIL cash, instead of scholarships, to those "over the limit."
NIL for basketball? What's that?!
March 19th, 2024 at 11:52 AM ^
Just trying to find the positives, which are far more limited than the number of scholarships.
March 19th, 2024 at 11:52 AM ^
Idk if I’d call it a mess now that everyone has left, it’s more an empty room. I hope tarris turns off the lights on his way out. Gotta save on those utility bills!
March 19th, 2024 at 11:48 AM ^
Minutes! We've got minutes! Anybody want minutes? Minutes here!
March 19th, 2024 at 11:58 AM ^
MgrowOld reporting for duty sir.
Pro's: Michigan man, 6'4', once dunked a ball in a intramural game over Curtis Greer
Con's: 64 years old, bad knees & one fake hip, havent played competitive basketball in almost 30 years, was a back-up in high school. Cant shoot, cant jump, cant really run
When do I start?
March 19th, 2024 at 12:01 PM ^
"When do I start?"
Tomorrow?
March 19th, 2024 at 12:02 PM ^
You can stand in one place without playing defense or hustling for rebounds. Come to think of it, you would have started on this year's team.
Jett part 2
March 19th, 2024 at 12:08 PM ^
Currently you are our only swing man on the roster. Suit up!
March 19th, 2024 at 12:12 PM ^
Be careful - you might be the 9th man with that type of talk.
Do credits from the 1950s transfer tho???
Any coaching experience?
So you were able to dunk in the 70s but couldn’t start on your HS team? Wow.
JNAS - Just Not A Shooter
I barely even played driveway basketball and, being a bit ambidextrous, never was even sure which hand I should be shooting with. But I'm not quite as old as mgrowold (my back and knees are working hard to catch up) so sign me up.
Yeah, I'm in as well.
And I got some serious skills - I'm perfect in the layup line, can dribble between my legs if no one is within 3 feet of me, and can dish out the hard foul. They don't call me Johnny Blood for nothing.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:32 PM ^
MeanJoe reporting
Mean. Aggressive on the court. A "slasher". Can literally hang on the rim once I get there. Sticks on defenders by latching on to their legs. Goes hard in the paint.
Is a Chlamydia riddled Koala. Bites. Can't jump. Very small. Poor floor spacing. Can't hold a basketball. "Hard in the paint" doesn't mean what you think. Locker room cancer.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:34 PM ^
Minutes? Hell, we can promise them hours or days, if they want.
What we can't promise is that we'll have four other guys on the court at the same time.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:42 PM ^
This is by far the best comment in the thread. I have but one upvote to give.
VaBlue reporting for duty. (heh heh, I said doody...)
I'll sign up for the PG position - I'll be like X and Dug, in that I'm short. Shorter than they were, but hey - so long as I've got MGrowOldtimer filling the post and a slashing Koala Bear in the role of Barkley, we should be okay.
I did not play in high school, but I did in 7th and 8th grade. Considering the team we just witnessed, I'm confident in my ability to compete.
Sounds like your intangibles are off the charts 1VaBlue1. A heady player that brings your lunch pail every day. Literally, a lunch pail. Filled with subs, wet wipes, ibuprofen, Werther's original, and a back up Life Alert for MGrowOld.
March 19th, 2024 at 11:48 AM ^
I will just assume everyone is gone unless they state they are coming back. In all honesty I would be completely fine with 13 new guys. They would most likely win win more than 8 games.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:02 PM ^
At this point I’m not sure they’re going to have 13. We might end up with 9-10. It might look like an episode of The White Shadow.

Whoever is left, please turn the lights off when you leave
March 19th, 2024 at 11:55 AM ^
Good luck ✌️
March 19th, 2024 at 11:57 AM ^
While the recent news regarding MBB players sucks, there should be some optimism. We are at the absolute low point in program history. I like Tarris and certainly wish him the best , but I also like the idea of cleaning house and starting totally fresh. We will suck next year too but a rebuild in basketball can happen very quickly with the right coach(es) in place. I'm cautiously excited for this next chapter.
March 19th, 2024 at 11:57 AM ^
Appreciate Reed's efforts the past couple of years. Really cannot blame anyone from jumping for this already sunken ship
March 19th, 2024 at 11:58 AM ^
Seems like we had the option to be a terrible team with Howard as the coach next year, but maybe keep a couple of guys, or be a terrible team next year with someone else as a coach and lose additional players. Neither is great, but the second choice is better for the long term as long as we get the correct new coach.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:10 PM ^
I think of the future direction of the program and one leads to another arrow down at seasons end. No thanks, lets purge it all now and work our way back up. Our future rests in the hands of Warde Manual. God help us.
March 19th, 2024 at 11:59 AM ^
Team is going to be unrecognizable next year, but that's not a bad thing necessarily.
Assuming the hire is a current CBB coach given the portal, would assume he brings a few guys with him. Maybe a recruit or 2 as well. Still going to be a bad team next year again.
March 19th, 2024 at 12:14 PM ^
would assume he brings a few guys with him.
You apparently are not familiar with our admissions department...
It's bad for my 10 year old son, he loved Dug and Reed. Young fans need some consistency, I don't even know if he wants to make our annual trip to AA to watch basketball next year if he doesn't know anyone on the roster and his favorite players have left. I don't even have the heart to tell him, this stuff does matter, just not to us adults who are locked in passionate Michigan fans. Thanks God for last football season and watching every game with my son and Dad!
