|14 weeks 4 days ago||I guess I would disagree a bit||
Mitch did have position at times, but beilein talked about this during the season. He said guys needed to be comfortable on the block for them to work the ball through them. He indicated Mitch wasn't there yet. I think beilein would certainly work the ball through the post if he had the option. He may not recruit it, but he would use it. There were times they isolated Nik on the block when they were guarding him with small quick's.

as I am, I would still say March Madness is a bigger event. But definitely top 4 with the derby, super bowl.
1986 Masters still the best for me. Cemented my interest in golf - amazing Sunday round by Jack. Nothing like that image of him raising his putter as another birdie drops.
I will be pulling for Ernie and Phil. Perfect golf year for me is Ernie winning the Masters to add a green jacket he deserves and Phil winning the US Open.

We have 6'10 bruiser on bench hurt. That is a game Mitch was built for. They were awesome though. Real bummer.
|16 weeks 4 days ago||B1G needs||
a national champion. Too many good teams the last few years with no title. Have to get one at some point to validate. Better be us - don't like the alternatives much right now.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||They are good||
but not awesome like they were with Ashley. THey have struggled to score without him. They don't scare me like they did after watching the December game at Crisler.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Barkley needs to stick||
with the NBA. Had enough of these guys. Still can't figure out how Kenny Smith got his gig. And for Anthony to say we are better without McGary???? WTF ? come on.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Exactly what i||
thought last weekend. If you don't let them score off turnovers they don't have enough otherwise.
|16 weeks 5 days ago||no shit||
I really thought we would run UT tonight and didn't like the last 2 minutes
|16 weeks 5 days ago||And florida||
|16 weeks 5 days ago||Neither scares me||
Call me crazy, but I still don't think either are that good. I have watched a lot of basketball the last couple weeks; the teams that scare me most r sparty and wiscy.
|18 weeks 2 days ago||They damn near||
beat Louisville last year in the final four. I understand they haven't beaten anyone this year, but I think everyone is selling them short. They are a very good team - maybe not a number one seed, but certainly a team nobody should want to play. People ought to be careful what they wish for.
|18 weeks 2 days ago||If I remember correctly||
Dawson and Valentine spent most of the first half on the bench as well with foul trouble.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||Wow.||
I was there for it. Seems like so long ago. And the future seemed so bright at the time.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||15 and 12 here||
But my 12 twelve year old's community basketball team lost 2 tough games tonight so their coach is hitting the jack and coke. Beilein I am not, or I need to recruit better....
|21 weeks 3 days ago||How many have you been to?||
I have only been to 3 - the Brez and Ohio's arena - whatever they call it. I went to OSU game last year at OSU and it was louder in there than our game with sparty today. I don't know how consistent their crowd it for hoops, but I would have to think the buckeyes are up there. 24k compared to 13 as well, not to mention 10,000 more savages than we have. The bottom line is crowd fervor comes and goes with success; I sure remember Indiana's crowd representing well when they struggled for several year. I would have to think Assembly is at or very near the top of the list for that reason.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||I agree with||
GRBlueFan on this one. I have been to almost every game this season. Yes, it was crazy today. But we don't have the consistency. The students have been consistent - I commend them. But you need the rest to make it a raucous environment. Take Wisconsin last week - the team comes out flat and got nothing from the crowd. First half was lame. The crowd has come a long way in the last 3 years, but I wouldn't rank us as one of the 3 or 4 toughest arenas in the big ten. However, we are now one of the toughest teams to play in the Big Ten, which contributes to our sterling home record. Huge strides, but a ways to go.
|22 weeks 3 days ago||If I'd said||
We would be 10-3 going into sparty before the season everyone would have taken it. Yes, bad start today but give wiscy some credit. They are a good team, came out hot and had an answer for everything. There will be lulls in the season and if ours is going 2-3 in a tough 5 game stretch then I can live with that. This team has gotten a lot out of what we have.

last year. 4 of us that split my season tix here. We wore gear and parked in one of the lots - it was a Sunday afternoon game which may have helped. We had no trouble at all. We did have great seats - 1/2 court a few rows behind Clark Kellogg. So we were with the older alumni type and they talked with us and were as nice as buckeyes can be. I am sure other parts of the arena would be worse. I think basketball is a much different environment. I will say they have a lot of fun with wolverine fans on the big screen. They mock us during just about every tv timeout. There is definitely a savagery we don't have - when we went down 20 or whatever it was in the first half, I thought the lid was going to blow off the building. Had burke's 3 dropped at the end.....would have been so nice.
|23 weeks 3 days ago||I think on UM hoops||
they have shown our defensive numbers aren't far off last year. We have always made up for the lack of stingy defense with low turnovers, low foul numbers and an efficient offense. Yesterday turnovers, especially at the beginning of the 2nd half, and lack of transition defense was a killer(which we did in Ann Arbor). The defense certainly can be better, but it is not going to limit where we want to go. Yesterday Iowa had a clear victory in the EFFORT department. I am not going to get bent out of shape about a road loss to a good team. It was a stinker; we had one last year at sparty and we move on. That being said I expect another loss Tuesday at OSU before we right the ship.
|25 weeks 4 days ago||With you there||
Just said that to the wife tonight. I think we all agree we want him as long as we can keep him coaching.
|25 weeks 4 days ago||6 final fours||
In 15 years is hard to compete with. That being said, I personally would take beilein every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
|25 weeks 4 days ago||Yes it was||
That was play of game in my opinion
|25 weeks 6 days ago||The key is||
Beilein. We were talking about it on the ride home from the game. Normally your coach has some strengths and some weaknesses, but Beilein has the whole package. X's and O's - got that. Player development - definitely got that. Manage the game - got it. Recruit - got it. Represents the team and university in public/media - got it. And on top of all this he recruits good kids that represent the U well and don't get in trouble. I am sure he will retire here; we won't let him get away, but I dread the day he calls it quits. Awesome coach.
|26 weeks 1 day ago||Regardless of what||
Happens tomorrow, I think we match up really well with with state without Payne. We can play with them either way, but without him I like how it sets up. They will be better Saturday but they don't scare me at all.
|27 weeks 8 hours ago||I totally agree||
That the game is changing. Why wouldn't you take the ball to the hoop? Defenders can't touch and can't draw a charge. I am surprised - we are taking more 3's per game. Thought for sure that # would be lower. Couple of googles leads me to believe all of college hoops is shooting more three's. Never would have guessed.
|28 weeks 3 days ago||Understandable but inexcusable.||
He cost them a shot to get a huge road win. Can't do that. Every coach who goes in there knows what to expect. Awful display and if I were one of his players I would be very disappointed.
|28 weeks 3 days ago||Yeah I would plus||
That too if I could. They have no tourney success at all, so they can play brawl ball all year, come in 2nd and then exit before the sweet sixteen. They don't bother me much for that reason.

Joe Nathan. Period.

There must be hundreds of "would have been a great piston" posts on the site and I will still start upvoting every one of them. I believe you will only be shaking your fist at joe for 3-4 more months.
