I am with mgo brother in law in Columbus and we had plump jack Cabernet with dinner and blanton's whiskey after. Still going with the fire.

I was in the first row on the goal line. Wow. We had friends in town from state and they couldn't believe that we sulked and drank all night. Obviously they were used to losing and then partying. Painful.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||That is the issue||
That is the issue this year in my mind. When you have deeper teams you can sit a guy with 2 fouls. It is painful to watch Dakich on the court - I know he is working his tail off but we are playing 4 on 5 on offense and his defense is a problem as well.
They can't afford to sit MAAR and Irvin in a game like that. If you sit the players with 2 fouls, you are AUTOMATICALLY playing minutes with very weak players in the game. That will catch up with you when it is Dakich and lonergan. If you let the players with 2 fouls play, there may be a game when they get into trouble in the second half and you are without them. It may then cost you a game, but guess what, sitting them in the first half has cost us potentially 2-3 games! Had those players been allowed to play, you may take yourself out of a game in the second half, but kept yourself in 2-3 others because they never got into additional trouble.
Benching them in the first half GUARANTEES minutes with weaker players; playing them MAY result in problems in the second half but is never a guarantee and more often than not will work out. Most years I am ok with it, but not this year. We don't have the horses and need to play our best 6-7 guys regardless.

Funny a lot of UCLA guys. My wife pulled out a picture of her with Harbaugh on a plane in 1986 and he has a UCLA hat on.

The miles rumor was true. Friends of ours live in Barton hills and it was confirmed they were looking there.....

that Brian said there was a brief bit of buzz/euphoria Thursday night that then subsided. I friend of mine has a friend who has a BIG donor in the family and knows Ross well. He said Ross' plane was used to get things locked up on Thursday. He didn't say anything about who it was; just said it was getting done and Michigan had hired their coach. Does eerily coincide with all the rumblings.

Buddy of mine watched Malzone recently and said he looked really good and was a beast. Here's hoping......

Mitch did have position at times, but beilein talked about this during the season. He said guys needed to be comfortable on the block for them to work the ball through them. He indicated Mitch wasn't there yet. I think beilein would certainly work the ball through the post if he had the option. He may not recruit it, but he would use it. There were times they isolated Nik on the block when they were guarding him with small quick's.

as I am, I would still say March Madness is a bigger event. But definitely top 4 with the derby, super bowl.
1986 Masters still the best for me. Cemented my interest in golf - amazing Sunday round by Jack. Nothing like that image of him raising his putter as another birdie drops.
I will be pulling for Ernie and Phil. Perfect golf year for me is Ernie winning the Masters to add a green jacket he deserves and Phil winning the US Open.

We have 6'10 bruiser on bench hurt. That is a game Mitch was built for. They were awesome though. Real bummer.

a national champion. Too many good teams the last few years with no title. Have to get one at some point to validate. Better be us - don't like the alternatives much right now.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||They are good||
but not awesome like they were with Ashley. THey have struggled to score without him. They don't scare me like they did after watching the December game at Crisler.

with the NBA. Had enough of these guys. Still can't figure out how Kenny Smith got his gig. And for Anthony to say we are better without McGary???? WTF ? come on.

thought last weekend. If you don't let them score off turnovers they don't have enough otherwise.

I really thought we would run UT tonight and didn't like the last 2 minutes

|1 year 13 weeks ago||Neither scares me||
Call me crazy, but I still don't think either are that good. I have watched a lot of basketball the last couple weeks; the teams that scare me most r sparty and wiscy.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||They damn near||
beat Louisville last year in the final four. I understand they haven't beaten anyone this year, but I think everyone is selling them short. They are a very good team - maybe not a number one seed, but certainly a team nobody should want to play. People ought to be careful what they wish for.
|1 year 15 weeks ago||If I remember correctly||
Dawson and Valentine spent most of the first half on the bench as well with foul trouble.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Wow.||
I was there for it. Seems like so long ago. And the future seemed so bright at the time.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||15 and 12 here||
But my 12 twelve year old's community basketball team lost 2 tough games tonight so their coach is hitting the jack and coke. Beilein I am not, or I need to recruit better....
|1 year 18 weeks ago||How many have you been to?||
I have only been to 3 - the Brez and Ohio's arena - whatever they call it. I went to OSU game last year at OSU and it was louder in there than our game with sparty today. I don't know how consistent their crowd it for hoops, but I would have to think the buckeyes are up there. 24k compared to 13 as well, not to mention 10,000 more savages than we have. The bottom line is crowd fervor comes and goes with success; I sure remember Indiana's crowd representing well when they struggled for several year. I would have to think Assembly is at or very near the top of the list for that reason.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I agree with||
GRBlueFan on this one. I have been to almost every game this season. Yes, it was crazy today. But we don't have the consistency. The students have been consistent - I commend them. But you need the rest to make it a raucous environment. Take Wisconsin last week - the team comes out flat and got nothing from the crowd. First half was lame. The crowd has come a long way in the last 3 years, but I wouldn't rank us as one of the 3 or 4 toughest arenas in the big ten. However, we are now one of the toughest teams to play in the Big Ten, which contributes to our sterling home record. Huge strides, but a ways to go.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||If I'd said||
We would be 10-3 going into sparty before the season everyone would have taken it. Yes, bad start today but give wiscy some credit. They are a good team, came out hot and had an answer for everything. There will be lulls in the season and if ours is going 2-3 in a tough 5 game stretch then I can live with that. This team has gotten a lot out of what we have.

last year. 4 of us that split my season tix here. We wore gear and parked in one of the lots - it was a Sunday afternoon game which may have helped. We had no trouble at all. We did have great seats - 1/2 court a few rows behind Clark Kellogg. So we were with the older alumni type and they talked with us and were as nice as buckeyes can be. I am sure other parts of the arena would be worse. I think basketball is a much different environment. I will say they have a lot of fun with wolverine fans on the big screen. They mock us during just about every tv timeout. There is definitely a savagery we don't have - when we went down 20 or whatever it was in the first half, I thought the lid was going to blow off the building. Had burke's 3 dropped at the end.....would have been so nice.
