If only Bill Self could coach as well as he can "recruit".... but since he never will be able to, I expect more disappointing seasons in Lawrence ahead.

Aren't they getting Okafor as well?
We'll see how Coach K does with these two... but I don't know, it seems like he hasn't adjusted that well to this 1-and-done era. Lot of disappointing seasons lately, albeit sandwiched around one great one. But with all the talent they get year in and year out, you would think they would at least be in the Elite 8 every year, not bowing out in the first round two out of three years.
The upside though is that every time Duke loses, an angel gets its wings.

I actually have met Neil a few times*, really great guy. This is a great show because (in my opinion) he has the personality and charisma to make these topics down to earth and fun for a mainstream audience. I'm recording them for my boys, they love it so far.
*I worked for his sister for a long time - she is also a "rock star" in her field (Corporate Investor Relations). Really accomplished family.

I read a lot of threads and articles on this site, but don't often feel compelled to post anything. But this article commands a response...
Great article and a great summation of his career. I hope he reads it and knows how much we all appreciate what he's accomplished while at Michigan.
Congratulations, Jordan. And thank you.

I live about 20 minutes south of Atlanta...
It's not the weather that has everything paralyzed, it is our complete lack of any sort of capacity to deal with it. Our game plan is basically wait until everything melts and goes away.
And the biggest problem (aside from the fact that everyone got on the roads at the same time and we have no salt / sand trucks or plows and it is hilly) is that everything iced over almost immediately.
But yeah, the average southern driver has no ability to deal with this even without the ice.

#1 in my heart....

I don't give a crap about rankings. The only thing that matters is how you do in the tournament come March. The better they play now, the better seed they get but they still have to win 6 in a row.

I definitely think the Nuss was on his own and not a figurehead.
|14 weeks 3 days ago||I think at the very least we'll be more consistent||
That was the most frustrating thing about Borges... one game we would be incredibly amazing on offense with a well-thought out game-plan and then the next week we would have nothing with no adjustments. If we had OSU Borges all season long, I definitely think we would have won a few more games.
So maybe the Nuss isn't OSU Borges, but at least he won't be Penn St / Iowa / Nebraska Borges and that has to be a good thing, right?
|14 weeks 3 days ago||I still can't believe that||
I still can't believe that Saban would prefer Kiffin over this guy. By all accounts they are both good coordinators and recruiters, but Nuss seems to come without all the baggage that Kiffin brings.
Perhaps Saban is losing his touch. It wasn't his offense that kept him out of the championship game... his defense against Auburn was atrocious (actually, their defense against any team with a pulse was pretty bad - A&M put up 42 points on them, Auburn 34, and OU 45), as was their special teams.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||And Foles, who is from||
And Foles, who is from Austin.
Part of the problem was Mack's penchant for locking down the entire class during their junior year, so he never had room for any late bloomers... but yeah, his real downfall was his inability to get a decent QB after Colt. Which is just insane when you think of all the QB talent from the state of TX.
Instead of all those guys mentioned, he took Gilbert, Ash and Colt's brother.
And that's why his tenure has ended on a sour note.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||So, here's what an average||
So, here's what an average day looked like at the upstate NY camp (it was in the Adirondacks near Lake George).
Kids meet at the flagpole and go off to various activities broken out by age groups -- activities included tennis, crafts, waterfront, archery, etc.
Afternoon activities for the kids
Then late afternoon would be porch parties where people would gather at each other's cabins for wine / beer, etc. - sort of like a camping tailgate
Evening activities which often included lectures from UM professors
Also, throughout lots of card playing and competitive events (family olympics) plus it was close to a couple of golf courses and there was world-class tennis instruction.
The upstate NY camp was at a girls camp (it was held only 1 week during the summer after the girls camp had shut down) and was very nice -- lots of buidings spread around that were generally broken into 3 or 4 individual but adjoining cabins. Generally each family has their own cabin but some larger families had more than one (and this was actually a very good crackdown they did making sure that each cabin had at least one UM alum).
My info may be a bit dated, but that's pretty much how I remember it. Really great place, the kids got to run around and do lots of activities with other kids their ages and the adults got free time all day to do whatever they wanted - with tons of amenities and options to choose from.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||I went from the age of 2 -||
I went from the age of 2 - 18. One of the best memories of my childhood. Note that there actually are (or at least were) several camps - the one in Michigan, one in upstate NY, and I believe there was even one in Europe though not sure if it is still around.
I have actually been considering taking my family as an alum myself, definitely worth it especially if you have younger kids because they will keep them busy all day long with supervised activities.

Think of him as their Steven Ross. He is a MAJOR donor, has owned an NFL team, and the UT business school is named after him.
He may be a self-inflated windbag and completely wrong on this, but he is not a no one when it comes to UT internal politics.

My wife had cancer as well back when we were first dating. She had colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver and lungs. The doctors at Houston medical center were amazing but only gave her 10% chance to make it. Lo and behold, she beat it and ended up having two kids, which the doctors thought would never be possible. Twelve years later and she is still going strong. So I'm with you - F-ck cancer and it can be beat. If you ask her how she did it she'll tell you that it was a combination of great doctors / medicine and never feeling like a victim. So many other people during treatments would feel like victims and feel sorry for themselves and we're very negative; my wife a always kept a positive mental attitude and always believed she would beat it. I really believe that helped.

The folks over at KSU believe we took their Sugar Bowl spot a few years back and are still mad about it... so I'm guessing they are going to be plenty motivated.

All of those games listed above hurt... as did the infamous Webber time-out. That one left me stunned for days.

Man was that a good time. I also saw Earthquake! in the Natural Caverns, went to the Deliverance sleepover in the woods, saw Big Lebowski in a bowling alley, etc.
There is no better place to watch -- and experience -- a movie than at the Alamo Drafthouse. The owner is friends with Quentin Tarantino and he used to come by to preview his movies there and hang out for hours. Same with Robert Rodriquez.
I really miss living in Austin...

Yep, that was as clean a block as can be. But the calls in this game were so crazy and erratic. Still, find it hard to believe they called a foul on that one.

I on the other hand am drunk.
However, we did lose. As much as it sucks to admit, we lost. Life goes on. We had our chances but missed foul shots and loose defense, etc. It totally sucks, but there is nothing we can do about it. I love this team for the fact that they even got this far.
That is all.

The fact that Matt Damon actually went along with that, pure win.
