NYJ trade a fourth round pick to Denver. I Wonder what Tebow will think of Rex Ryan's foul mouth.
I refreshed right before posting and saw two Sean Payton threads so I went ahead and posted. Then I opened those threads and both also mention Tebow...
Seems like a bad match culture-wise. As a New Yorker, I don't see New York falling in love with Tebow and the whole religious thing as much as a lot of other places would. Time will tell.
My Jets fan friend is pretty upset.
They need God just like anyone else. Seriously though, if Tebow's message can get through to the UF faithful, maybe he can get some traction in the Big Apple. Maybe being the keyword.
This isn't the place to talk about people needing religion in their lives.
That had as much to do with him being a local boy and an amazing player as it did his religious nature honestly. If he wasn't Tim Tebow superstar heisman winner and record breaker from less then 100 miles away, but Tim Tebow second string quarterback from New Jersey nobody would have given a shit down there.
... for a Pats fan like myself
They only gave up a fourth round pick. If it doesn't work out then they haven't lost much.
I thought one of Jeremy Lin's big things was his faith? They took to him pretty well. Anyone will support a winner so if he wins they'll love him. If not, they won't but the main reason will be losing.
That barely played at all in NY. They liked him because they went on a winning streak and NY fans love to promote a rookie on a hot streak as the BEST PLAYER EVER. Sometimes they're right (Henrik Lundqvist) other times they're wrong (Joba Chamberlain).
They liked him because he was winning. New Yorkers could give a flying fuck about what you believe. I am a big fan of that.
They don't seem to mind Jeremy Lin.
Don't think they will mind the "religious thing" as long as he preforms and wins. If he doesn't, people will attack, like it happens everywhere.
it's great for the Jets and Tebow, that he won't get as many crazy "fans" who are simply fans because of his religion. The screaming for Tebow to start will be less than if he went to the South.
If you take out the religion and the hype, basically the Jets are just getting a 2nd string QB who can't throw. We'd be more excited about Manning and the sibling rivalry.
I love how MGoBlog informed me of both Peyton Manning going to Denver and now Tebow to the Jets first. Who needs ESPN?
I couldn't have said it better myself
I wonder what all sports talk/highlight shows will be going on about for the next 1,000 consecutive hours.
Oh great. Take everything Tebow coverage related now, and multiply it by 1,000,000,000,000 and that's what we're in for
I wonder if Greenberg is gnashing his teeth. I'm just confused at how this makes sense for the jets. Really? Sanchez and Tebow?
Dont forget they just signed Drew "HEISMAN" Stanton to be their QB2.
Looks like Tebow will have to wait to return home. I sorta feel sorry for him. He is playing just well enough at QB that nobody is moving him to TE/H-back, where he could be an all-pro, but he isn't a good fit for either of the typical NFL offenses (WCO or traditional), and probably wouldn't run the New England hybrid very well, either.
The Jets had to do something to divert attention from their crosstown rivals; I guess they just did it.
The Jets are used to having unconventional QBs. They could potentially use him in a fashion similar to how they used Brad Smith a couple years ago. Minus the kick returns, of course.
And by "unconventional" you mean "terrible," right?
Jeremy Kerley did that quite well for us last year, and even though he's a young wide receiver I think he throws more accurately than Tebow.
I hope they aren't counting on Tebow to help right the ship in their locker room. I know he supposedly circled the wagons in Denver but there have been a lot of Broncos that have bad mouthed him since they got Manning. I wonder if Tebow had any choice in the matter.
I think he would have been a better fit in NE Florida. But, they already have two QBs. Good luck in NYC Tim.
This is going to end in flames and many people getting fired.
I think it may end with Rex Ryan struck by lightning at a press conference. Seriously though, I will be interested to learn who came up with the idea within the organization. We shouldn't have to wait long to find out if it WASN'T Ryan's idea.
I think Tebow would have been a better fit for a team with an entrenched starter at QB. Sanchez wasn't much better than Tebow was last year, arguably even a little worse. This looks like a QB controversy waiting to happen.
Of course, they could just turn him into a Crash Jensen type utility back.
Competition breeds success.
Tebow is very cap friendly for the next few years so bring him in and let him push Mark Sanchez for all he is worth. Tebow is a much better 2nd option at QB than Drew "3rd preseason game all star" Stanton. I'll bet that Tebow starts more games for the Jets over the next 3 years than Mark Sanchez does.
Now he can sit and learn under the tutelage of the great Mark Sanchez. I can't think of any other team with a better QB mentor for him to learn from.
He can learn from the talented Drew Stanton haha
In all seriousness though, how pissed is Stanton being the third stringer again.
The best second round pick Matt Millen ever made. Period.
No that's calvin Johnson
Third string QB in the NFL is the best job in the world.
Drew Stanton was the most popular 3rd string QB in the NFL when he was with the Lions.
this makes sense in the way things make no sense at all.
best of luck to tebow, but in my opinion, that trade is a disaster waiting to happen.
its not like tebow and rex ryan have conflicting personalities or anything like that.....
What does this mean for Drew Stanton??
Wait, what do you mean no one cares about Drew Stanton?
Except the Pats smashed the Broncos in the playoffs
at all the people who claim that anything involving Tebow was a "football move". Dude is NOT a legit NFL QB. I love the Ryan family (thanks for '85 Buddy!) but HATE the Jets/media love/Tebow Love/Blah that this will include. I hope it all blows up.
Or I hope they say "We don't have a QB on our roster who can throw very well, screw it, let's run the single wing". Or they try something different. That could be fun to watch from a football perspective.
because he is paid by an NFL team to play QB. Not to mention the fact that he won a playoff game at QB with an extremely "legit" perfromance. So that's just a fact. Now, is a good NFL QB? That is entirely debateable and remains to be seen. I'd say no he isn't. But I wouldn't count him out from being one in the future.
What's better than 1 bad QB? 2 bad QBs!
A 4th and a 6th for Tebow and a 7th sounds about right!
As a Jets fan I am very sad right now
When Timmy T does the Tebow do you think he will have to wash the feet of Fatboy Ryan on bended knee?
That Kate Upton video would be good right about now...
