By now I'm sure you have all just witnessed the greatest american SyFy classic ever, SharkNado. What are your reactions? Thoughts? I for one think this was the greatest movie ever.
...also what are you drinkin' tonight?
Wait, this aired tonight??? I watched a trailer for this earlier today... So upset that I missed it.
It's on again at 1am...a friend told me.
God bless friends.
I don't want to spoil things for you but...
Dual-wielding chainsaw slicing flying sharks in half.
My favorite part is that when you shoot a shark out of the tornado with a pistol, it dies and falls out.
In every actor shot it's sunny with clear skies and shadows.
Is SyFy going to re-air Sharknado in the future? I have to see this piece of crap.
I like going to kickass torrents for all things TV. Here's the most popular torrent for Sharknado:
I just saw a shark attempt to climb a 75 foot wire. Remarkable, considering not only does the shark NOT have arms but it also gave no regard for the lack of water to breath in. Shark-1 Physics-0.
Slow clap. As a resident MGoMeteorologist, I will confirm that every bit of this movie is 100% scientifically accurate.
The DVR was busy recording that tonight, if it's as good as Sharktopus then color me excited.
Fast forward through anything involving people without sharks (or dinosaurs or monsters).
Though you would miss the best part where our comely heroine paraphrases Quint from Jaws.
Beverly Hills emergency management services are second to none!
Did not realize you could jump into a shark's mouth with a chainsaw and come out alive. Will save that tidbit of knowledge for the next time I encounter a shark.
spoiler alert, but he doesn't just save himself
Yes that was hilarious. Of all the flying sharks the exact one that gulped helicopter girl (without a tooth mark on her) was the same one Ian found at the end of the movie. Ian also escaped withouth a tooth mark on him. Remarkable! :)
While I think actors are overpaid in a general sense movies like this (and the one right after which I started watching by default) make me appreciate how good the real actors are. And also figure after the top 100 actors in Hollywood is there that much of a drop off to the next level (i.e. people in these movies?) It would be like going from a NFL player to a HS JV - I mean where are the people in between (the junior college or community college equivalents of actors). I literally laughed at some of the death scenes in Sharknado due to the reactions - i.e. after helicopter girl was swallowed the reaction of the helicopter guy "nooOoOoOoo" was so hilariously over the top bad I was almost crying with laughter.
I'd say there are more than 100 good actors in Hollywood. Unless you mean the actors that people know the names of. Then maybe. I'd say (just my opinion), that the actors in between the good actors (ie. character actors & bankable stars) and some of the shitty actors here would be some of the actors in the CSI or NCIS shows or most of the actors on the CW. They're not terrible to watch and work in those shows but not really the greatest actors ever. Also bankable stars aren't necessarily good actors. I have no clue why Kevin James or Adam Sandler movies do well. They just do.
But then again, some of the acting in movies like Sharknado sucks because the actors give no shits. John Heard is a pretty decent actor. He clearly gave no shits in Sharknado.
and Adam Sandler movies do well because there is no risk involved. With the exception of Funny People, you do not gain or lose anything by watching any of their movies, there is no emotional investment of any kind. They are mildly amusing and completely inoffensive. Many times people go to the movie because they want a break from everything that means anything, and that is exactly what actors like James and Sandler give them.
As for Sharknado, I think actors often are contractually bound to do movies through the maize of studios and production companies that wind their way through Hollywood. Other times I think many do movies like this because they prefer them to doing bit roles in other marginally better movies. Other times I think they may do them because they find them to be utterly hilarious just like us. And then there is Ian Zerring, I am pretty sure he did Sharknado because be badly needed the money.
I turned on the last 20 minutes.....and it was glorious!!!!
Two-Headed Shark update:
Two chicks went topless into the water and started making out and the two-headed shark came in and ate them.
For those who missed this glorious scene, a NSFW link to show you this cinematic masterpiece.
With one or two heads.
I've never been so disappointed to see breasts.
...1 hour into the movie and Carmen Electra is still alive!
I don't know if you guys saw Pirahnaconda last year, but it was pretty awesome too.
When does Bearicane come out?
I'm waiting for Earthsnake.
Good to know that a small pipe bomb will stop a tornado
A guy about to fight said SharkNado with a large hammer told me the small pipe bomb would "equalize" it.
However 2 Headed Shark has highly succeed my expectations.
I must disagree, The last 15-20 minutes of it made up for the rest of it.
Tara Reid has not aged gently.
Are not that old.
She looks like the reanimated corpse of a stripper.
Does Ian know where Brian Austin Green was 9 months before he was born? Just sayin'
Coming up next on SyFy... Sharknado!
Wow...I thought I was the only asshole watching this crap. I love this blog.
I thought I was the only person in Twitterverse who had no idea what SharkNado is.
Turns out, I'm the only person on MGoBlog, too. Smh.
But it sounds awesome.
I ran across an interview with the writer of "Sharknado" actually - (HERE) for the full piece.
The best part, I thought...
"How are the sharks cognizant enough to keep biting people while they're flying through the air?
If you were a shark and you found yourself flying through the air, wouldn’t you keep biting? I think you’d be pretty pissed about being plucked out of your nice familiar ocean where you’re king of the predators, and you’d probably take it out on whoever got in your way. Honestly, I don’t understand why people are so perplexed by this concept. The logic is undeniable."
That dude needs to do his research.
How can u argue with that logic?
And I just lost a 20 year bet that Ian Ziering's career would outlast Jason Priestley's.
Not that it isn't already "too bad", because that's what makes it hilarious, but when does it become them trying too hard to make it too bad. Honestly, if they try to top SharkNado, well, then, I hate to say it, but then they'll have officially jumped the shark.
Terrible sci-fi movies are one of my favorite pasttimes. Haven't seen this one yet, but it'll be hard pressed to top Megashark vs Giant Octopus, Megapiranha or Scratch. Just a few of my favs.
The wife and I were staying up to watch all the beautiful awesomeness right up until the scene where the brunette girl gives an account of the motivation for her hatred of sharks. After realizing the horror of losing her grandfather and all his friends to a shark attack when she was 7, and with her being the only survivor, sadly it occurred to us that the drama was overtaking the action. Dissapointed, we headed to bed, hungry for more flying sharks, only to find out this morning that they saved the best for last and that we missed all the chainsaw action. Fells like I turned the set off just before Henne to Manningham.
I slept in, does Los Angeles still exist?
But iOS packing WOW fans can get a code at IGN for a free Order and Chaos app(normally $6.99)
Edit: now I see why. Game has been under DDOS attack, cannot even log in.
Why on EARTH is this subject popular? I did, however, research the movie on IMDb only to see Ian Zeiring in it. I actually know Ian's wife, Erin, as she used to live here in Cleveland. She was dating my wife's brother for a year or so and then moved to California where she met Ian. Erin is such a nice girl.
EDIT: Cool story, bro. (?)
I have it DVR'd and will be watching it sometime this weekend. Hopefully its as good as MegaShark vs. Giant Octopus. That was a classic of cinema.
some serious hops. Before he goes completely into the sharks mouth, his trajectory is still upward and his feet are already level with the top of the fence.
My favorite part is when Ian Zeiring's character dumped about 1/2 gallon of gas into the pool, threw some matches on it and it exploded.
I hope there is a sequel.
I heard that there is already one in the works
What the title said.
It's times like this that I miss the old voting system.
That is cinema platinum.
I had that on my Netflix Instant Queue for about 6 months, but never got around to watching it. Then my wife made me delete it because she was tired of scrolling past the cover art every time we wanted to watch something.
Lines like "Help me ,Bobby, the shitman's got me!" really make this movie shine.
But I need to ask a stupid question, never having seen nor even heard of this movie before. Why don't they just wait for the sharks to hit land and, you know, flop around and die? That's pretty much my survival game plan for this scenario. I'll hang up and listen.
"If you were a shark and you found yourself flying through the air, wouldn’t you keep biting?"
The quote could have ended here and I would've known all I needed to know about this guy
Ended up watching the end of this in my hotel room last night, I could not believe what I was watching. It was either one of the worst things ever made or the best thing ever.
Hate the Sharks largely become of their Dominance over Detroit Red Wings but this was funny.
It's like Deep Blue Sea meets Birdemic. I can die happy, now.
and SoCo. Needless to say at the time I thought it was spectacular
Because so many people are tweeting about it there's an encore presentation Thursday at 7 pm.
I read that, despite the rampant Twitter outpour, the ratings for Sharknado were still pretty mediocre. :(
that doesn't get mediocre ratings?
