Saw it opening night where they also screened the live Colbert interview with Jon and Maziar afterward. I really enjoyed it, I thought it was a good movie, not great. A well acted character study. I think people wanted it to more political and biting than it was, but there is a lot of "ha that's a Jon Stewart thing" that does pop up. I know that some people didn't think it wasn't LOL funny enough, but I went with my husband and a friend who often goes to TDS tapings with us, and we cracked up quite a bit. It's subtle humor and it's there for sure. I'm not entirely sure what people were complaining about.
It has some problems for sure, but coming from a guy who has spent the last few years behind a fake newsdesk on Comedy Central and not in the script writing/directing world? It's a promising and worth watching debut.
I wouldn't say what Honnold does is easy by any means. In what world is free soloing a 5.13b easy? Or doing a solo of El Sendero Luminoso? It's not the Dawn Wall for sure but come on. Unless you're Chris Sharma or Adam Ondra, it's ludicrous to be looking down at climbs like that.
Well I was saying that Honnold has more in common to Caldwell and Jorgeson than the French guy does to the two of them. Not saying that Honnold and French Spiderman don't have anything in common. But Honnold is known for his (repeated) ascents in Yosemite (both free solo and free climbing) and he has partnered up with Caldwell and Jorgeson in the past for other climbs (ie. Fitz Roy last February). The free solos that Honnold does do are probably easier, but at the same time, that must mean his climbing level must be a lot higher to be able to do them without roope. IIRC, Honnold's climbed up to 5.14c, but don't quote me on that.
Of the free soloers out there, Alex Honnold is probably the one I'd compare to them. Not French spiderman. Urban climbing is definitely loads different from rock. I think Alex was at the top waiting for them which is a nice show of solidarity.
This could have been filmed with the last mean tweets segment, where they had Brady read the one where it said it looks like he'd be the type who'd bathe in hot dog water.
Recruits. Hoke knew how to recruit and was able to do well on the recruiting trail. Because of that, Harbaugh is going to have an easy as fuck time doing what he needs to do.
If you were fired from a job you love, would you call the person that everyone believes would be the person best to fill the job you were fired from? Unless Hoke was given a position within the AD, I don't see it happening. He wouldn't call the Harbaughs and say don't let Jim take the job, but also would not call him to beg for him to take the job. Quite honestly, Hoke probably needs to take a step back and re-evaluate his own life. He just lost the job he was building his career up for.

I think Hoke could do well if he fired some of his assitant coaches who've been with him since Ball State. Funk is not developing the O-line. I don't know why Michigan's OL with 5 star recruits is at the same level as PSU who couldn't really recruit due to scholarship issues.
I suspect Hoke is still coaching the d-line more than a normal head coach should be and is covering for Mark Smith for some reason just like he did in Ball State (there was an article written by a former Ball State player(?) who basically said that Hoke was basically their DC for the last two years at Ball State because the previous 4 years of Smith at DC were awful).
The fact that Hoke can't make the coaching changes due to loyalty and friendship probably means he's not going to be the right coach at a school like Michigan. However, if he did I think Michigan would have had a chance. I think it's similar to the Beilein situation where once he cleaned house, there was a huge shift in what the team was able to do. I do think it's too late for him to do it due to the anger of the fans and the tumult of the season.

Yeah, I noticed that outside. It was weird. After the game, it seemed like everyone was wearing Michigan clothing too, and this was still inside the stadium. It's like UConn fans were cheering for UConn during the game, but wearing Michigan clothing for before and after.

Backcountry camping in the Adirondacks (upstate NY). A lot of bear sightings this summer. A girl got in a fight with a bear a few days ago and was lucky enough to get out alive.
As a wife of one month, I'm confused about these "wife day" threads. Am I supposed to be making my husband do stuff because Michigan's not playing? We're just going backpacking for the weekend. But I guess I'll make him carry the bear canister in honor of wife day or whatever. That thing is heavy.
There's an anti-twerking policy? That's pretty funny. Were students just randomly twerking in the middle of lecture or lab to even have that policy exist?
To be fair, most fans are ignorant dumbasses. Ie. half the presser questions and a lot of comments on this site.. What coach is going to agree with the fans and basically say, "Sorry that our sucking is making you panic. We'll make changes and be better after the bye." It was a diplomatic answer. And we are entitled to our own opinions.
Why don't you give an example of what exactly you deem to be extremely disrespectful? Aside from not giving away schemes or throwing players under the bus what exactly is the cause of your butthurt?
Well, I think the problem is they have asked the questions your way as well or some way like it. The answer to the first one is "yadda yadda Toussaint production yadda yadda" and the second one he'd give some general platitudes to a few players. A smart guy can make any answer generic coach speak.
Definitely seemed to be a 40-60 split. A lot of the blue in the crowd was for Michigan as well. A lot of people saying "Go Blue" to each other walking around the stadium. Aside from one UConn fan telling my husband "Michigan sucks", their fans seemed alright. The people working the concession stands were really nice and seemed genuinely excited for what was going on. Then again, my section was mainly a Michigan section so we didn't really have any big UConn fans with us during the game. We ended up tailgating in some weird small parking lot across the street from the INSANELY HUGE Michigan tailgate across from the stadium. It was pretty chill. After the game it was a bit hairy and we had to rush out of there, but that was more a domestic issue going on there.
I was in a pretty big Michigan section (241) and couldn't get people to start Hail to the Victors after the first TD. I realized then that the crowd would be super quiet since that was early in the game and the shock hadn't really occurred yet.
My husband and I did manage to get a few families around us to join in the chanting for "Go Blue" and "defense" and making noise for kickoff and when UConn was in 3rd down situations. Those people seemed to get more and more into the game because of that. But for the most part, Michigan fans were looking at us like we were crazy.
It was nice to see the Michigan crowds closer to the field behind the endzone really trying to start things up though. If anyone in those sections are upset that no one was joining in with your cheering, I just want to let you know that we saw you in the back and tried to start it in our section as well.
The Michigan crowds definitely got a lot louder during the 4th quarter though. There was a palpable shift in the atmosphere of the crowd.
It was an ugly embarrassing win, but it was one of the best live football experiences I've had in awhile. So a special thanks to those people that sat around the crazy Asian girl and her husband in just cheering for Michigan. It was my husbands first live Michigan football game and you guys helped make it special.
One thing I found to be weird was that the band would be playing and then they'd pipe in RAWK music over it. Stadium was small enough to hear the band all the way across the field, and it was just weird.
So the "no longer than 90mm" rule for camera lenses means that I can bring a DSLR that can get up to 89mm with no worries of someone going "sorry not allowed"?
UConn website has a seating chart. The side with the press box is the side that should have Michigan's bench. Between gates A and B. Unless the benches are on the same side.
They specifically said no cameras with lenses >90mm. So ANY DSLR (ie 5dmkii) as long as the lens is <90mm is acceptable? I tried calling to ask but spent forever in their maze of automated telephone assistance.

If we were to get a hotel on Main Street about a mile (~30 min walk) from the stadium, how safe is it to walk to it after the game?
Is the Aircraft club also only open 4 hours prior to gametime? Or can we get there sooner?
Just double checking logistics. There's a lot on their website about parking passes, but they also have a section for gameday parking without passes. I assume most of you lot will be parking or tailgating in this area here?
