+1 Informative.
+1 Post midnight means it's a new day.
It's not UTL but this is the best situation. They have no excuse right now when they will be a primetime* game. I think they come out and win big and look like the team we saw the first two weeks.
*According to ESPN
The players seem to be more focused when the game is at night instead of noon if you know what I mean.
/s
Why be sarcastic about it? At this point, we have no reason to believe that's not the case.
Hey, I was like that too in college.
As a young man your instinct to mate causes your hunting drive to be more active as day turns to night, making you more focused and energetic.
I just made that up. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Don't let facts get in the way of a good theory.
Good, based on today, I might need more time to build up a buzz.
I suggest Bloody Mary's. The tomato juice and celery provide food so you don't have to stop for meals.
but i hear all the cool kids use pickles instead.
Gameday will be in Fargo, North Dakota and the primetime ABC game is 3-0 Michigan at 0-2 uconn.
That just says it all about next week in college football.
Crush them and get to the bye week. And when I mean crush, I wanna see them just blow uconn off the field. From what I hear, there should be a lot of Michigan people there. Michigan has a lot to prove next week.
so that's two... also my niece and her boyfriend, so now that's four - we'll make enough noise to sound like eight, although we're not sitting with them, so that reduces the effect
Shark . . . jumped.
first of all, games in fargo north dakota are what college football is all about. do we really need to see birmingham, or baton rouge, or palo alto again? if there isn't a marquee game (and there isn't), why NOT go somewhere off the beaten path?
second, and more specifically, they love their football there. it's a marquee fcs program, and their building totally rocks. check it out: http://youtu.be/nIqTcbDq088
(sorry, don't know how to imbed)
Over / Under on Gardner turnovers?
Extra credit for pick 6's
0 and I'm taking the under.
I demand flawless football.
So does Hoke, yet M has the leader in interceptions thrown...again.... for the second straight year... have fun in Vegas
Oh no the interceptions leader in all of 3 games played this season! In which Michigan won all of them, I might add.
Oh no! M just beat a 38 point underdog by 4. All is well. No, really... all is well... I might add...
Can you not?
You mean the qb leads the team in interceptions? Who'd have imagined?
Well shucks Brodie, I guess it's plum alright to lead the nation in interceptions then. Thanks for the logic son.
3.5
Hope we perform well and are awake next week.
Is it going to be a split regional coverage with ESPN? The ESPN game schedule also lists Kansas St.-Texas at 8PM on ABC, and I'll probably get that. Don't see anything on ESPN yet though.
Does it matter? M sucks now. didn't you know?
Love your avatar. Maybe it should be called Mgo-inverted New Mexico missing a tetris piece?
Can you not tell that it's a bomb? I don't know where you are seeing a Tetris piece, that clearly looks just like a bomb. Better shut down the city.
Blue hairs. Blue hairs everywhere.
We aren't as good as we looked last week and we aren't as bad as we looked yesterday.
Where do you live? I live in College Station. I hope I can find the game.
New Mexico. Checking out the DirecTV guide, ABC already lists KSU/Texas, and ESPN is Auburn/LSU. ESPN2 and ESPNU currently have games TBA, but they start at 5PM (7PM Eastern) and other games are already scheduled for 8:15 (10:15 Eastern).
I hope we're not left out in the cold (Yukon pun). I'm coming to New Mexico tomorrow and will be in Santa Fe all week for a conference. Good to know there are fellow Wolverines out there.
I live in Austin and have time Warner. I'm worried the game won't be playing anywhere here with UT playing at the same time. Not familiar with directv. Will a bar that has directv get the game here? And do abc prime time games show on espn3?
Same here. I live in Texas, and would prefer to not watch the damn Longhorns.
there is so much longhorn schadenfreude to be had this year.
Got so sick (when I lived there) of that hook 'em ghey hand signal they are so fond of using...
Would relish at their big baby crocodile tears
Agreed!!
Big mistake UConn you have awoken the dragon. We kick butt at night.
Just no Brent and Kirk, please.
we need to do is find the guy on the team with the hottest girlfriend - put her in a tight shirt and make the camera man focus on her. Then ol Musberger will lose his shit again and just talk about her the entire time.
crap... was hoping for a noon game TV coverage wise. If they split ABC, I'm pretty sure we'll get Texas/KSU in Arizona. Fukk it my girlfriend is out of town next weekend, I'll just find a bar if we don't get it here on ABC/ESPN. Might wake up in a strange place but whatever...
take over UConn's stadium and run them out of the building early. OSU must have had 70% or more of the seats, it looked and sounded like a home game for them.
A night game may be better than a noon start, but if the emotion and focus isn't there it could get ugly. I figure we drop to 15 or lower in the polls after today's game.
I think we'll take over that stadium if seast are available. Not quite like OSU can, but a healthy 1/3 of the stadium will probably be maize
70% might be a little generous but the OSU contingent was well represented. I'm sure we will have a good showing for UConn though with so many M grads out east. In fact, here in NYC the alumni association has planned for a massive transport of alums from the city to the game.
This requires a significant restructuring of the day's agenda. Never expected 8PM.
We get a blowout in primetime and today will be forgotten.
Well not completely forgotten. You're not taking into account the thousands of DVR'd copies in Spartan households across the state.
If that's how they want to spend their time they can knock themselves out with it.
Stupid night games. Some people plan shit months in advance thinking there's no way UCONN will be a game at night and then this happens!!!!
Even with the TBA, wasn't there always an assumption that there was a more than likely chance this would be a night game? It's not like this was an out-of-the-blue proposition.
You're probably right but I never expected it. UConn for whatever reason does play a lot of home night games.
Next week must be a really good week for football...
but I guess the suits are thinking that an upset would play well at 8.
I believe it was the AAC who had the final say in gametime. After we looked so weak they are probably hoping to get their new conference a better rep and want as many eyeballs to see it as possible.
an opponent in a primetime game. Though, I doubt that will happen again after today.
Devin Robinson back under center like last week.
Our offense is Devin Robinson. His throwing motion has improved considerably, although he still throws lots of INTs.
I like it. Should provide a good atmosphere for the team to do some damage and get today's bad taste out of their mouths. I'm looking forward to watching us dominate under the lights.
They will be itching to get out there and clean up this stinky mess from this week. Look forward to seeing some Michigan football next weekend. ...
Stinky bullshit goddamn mess of a shitty game
My frat is having a huge tailgate here and any Mgousers are invited. I'll post more info around here soon.
Good to know. My husband and I were originally planning to drive over with some breakfast and go to the game. Now we have ton of time with nowhere to go. Glad to hear of Michigan tailgates.
you have piqued my interest
There was a link posted in August that stated UConn was going to be adding another 2,000 seats to an end zone just to accommodate Michigan fans for this game. I think we'll be well represented.
They were installed last week.
This will be just what the doctor ordered. Get away, travel team only, bad team, night game, disappointing performance...I think (errr hope) we have a focus that we haven't seen all year.
There was no focus for ND and CMU?
We have been a crappy road team for years.
Well, time to change that. A crappy UConn team gives us a chance to put that in the right direction.
With that, the 8 PM slate for next weekend looks like this:
- Michigan vs. UConn, ABC
- Missouri vs. Indiana, BTN
- Kansas State vs. Texas ABC (so, it's a regional broadcast, it seems)
- UTSA vs. UTEP, network to be announced (I bet it is ESPN3)
- Hawaii vs. Nevada (actually an 8:05 PM start, no network yet)
ESPN has Auburn vs. LSU at 7:45 PM , so they will be otherwise engaged over there.
ABC put Michigan - UConn on prime-time TV...So the suits decided that the New York audience would be biggest they could get Saturday night.
This is the same reason that the B1G expanded to Maryland / New Jersey.
Just saying.
Can't wait for this onee. I hope the weather is nice
Coach will have them so damn fired up after yesterdays crap fest it will be over by 8:30.
Let's not go down that road of thinking again.
wife works all day, I would've recorded it now I can watch it live with the little ones in bed.
ABC: Kansas State at Texas OR Michigan at Connecticut, 8pm (Regional coverage)
ESPN: Auburn at LSU, 7:45
ESPN2: Colorado State at Alabama, 7pm
ESPNU: SMU at Texas A&M, 7pm
So parts of the country will need to watch the Michigan game on ESPN3 or on the WatchESPN App or whatever. It doesn't look like ABC has released its coverage map yet.
And Michigan vs UConn is not on there either yet but they have a bunch of 7 and 8 PM games on there so I'm lost. I'm not sure why Texas gets a primetime slot when they have their own channel with ESPN so I think it might be Michigan on primetime.
The Michigan game will definitely be on ESPN3, they probably just haven't updated their listings, and you can also get it on the Watch ESPN app.
The Kansas State-Texas game really is on ABC if you are anywhere in Big XII country, and I'm curious to see how much of the rest of the country as well. I'm guessing Florida/Georgia and California get the Michigan game, but you can't be sure until ABC releases their map.
I'm in Florida and when I went to the ABC.com site it shows Texas but it didnt ask for me for my location...
It shows Kansas State-Texas for me, too, and I'm in SE Michigan, so that's obviously not updated yet either.
I figure that we will see some meltdowns on this board in a couple of days once the maps are released and it dawns on people that some of them will not be able to watch a game on regular TV for the first time in 5 years or so (I think there was a game in 2008 with the same split regional telecast issue).
I'll plan on watching and tailgating. @ home. Should catch the regional coverage.
I was gonna start a thread asking about it, but that seemed kinda needy. Thanks so much! I can't wait. I got a luxery box for the game so if any MgoBloggers are gonna be there give me a shout if you wanna meet up. Gonna tailgate and stay overnight in E. Hartford.
Will be visiting and attending game with my son-in-law (a UCONN Grad) and my grand son. Where's the tailgate?
We will be in the parking lot outside the stadium around 4pm. I'm not yet sure what time we can get into our suite yet, but I cam come on here and post specifics on where we park if you want when we arrive on Saturday afternoon. I am also staying in the Hampton Inn in E. Hartford that evening and probably meeting up there before the game.
Hope this is just an early error but in South Carolina directv shows the Kansas State Texas game on ABC and no mention of Michigan. Would be a shame if this is the first game I miss in 8 years on TV since I moved down here.
North and South Carolina will get the Michigan game I hope,GO BLUE!!!
Over under for ABC showing the last Akron play? I say 15
Thank god I'll be at the game and won't have to relive that.
kind of looking forward to watching a game at home in the man cave lol. will be all the better as my couch now sits underneath a football i got signed by future wolverine all star deshawn hand at the utl game. hopefully that thing is good luck!
After hearing Lewan's comments as well as Hoke's post game speech I think we will come out strong next week and just dominate. We are better than we played against ND, and the team was still coming off that win which lead to the piss poor performance yesterday.
Hubby and I were going to drive over from Albany (less than two hours door-to-door) but late start makes it almost impossible. Even if game is over by 11 ( and given all the stoppages in play/tv ads/halftime reports, etc., that's not at all a guarantee), after getting to the car, fighting traffic, and getting back on road, we won't be home until around 2 AM, at the earliest. A noon start would have been ideal for us. In our college days, that wouldn't have slowed us down at all, but then again, in our college days we would have lived on campus :).
I know this is the way things work now, and money/tv rule everything, but unless it's something truly special like UTL (or the equivalent) playing games at night makes life considerably more difficult for anyone who lives any distance from the venue. And waiting until a week or less to announce the time just compounds the problem. We've run into this with other sports, too....we have often talked about driving to NYC or Boston to see a Mets or Red Sox game (an easy day trip for a day game) but have been reluctant to buy tix because even though the game has been scheduled for months for the afternoon, there's always a chance that Fox will pick up the game for a late afternoon start, or even worse, ESPN will pick it up for an 8:00 start on Sunday. No ticket refund, and if we still want to attend, we either have to add a hotel
room, if we can find one, arrive home at 3-4 AM on a work night, or eat the cost of the tickets if we can't sell them/give them away. I assume we're the leisure market the leagues/NCAA/ is targeting (two career,
no children at home, lots of leisure time, money to spend) but we don't like to waste/needlessly spend
money, and we don't live closer than 2-3 hours to a major pro/college sports venue. Also, our lives are
complicated enough that we need to know the game time more than a week in advance; unfortunately, we
don't have the luxury of sleeping in until noon the next day.
All of this fooling around/switching the schedule for TV is madness. If TV must be involved, let the
networks/leagues/teams/schools pick the games/matchups they want prior to the schedules being announced and stick to it. I'm not a fool, I know it will never happen, but I do think one of the reasons UTLs I and II were so successful is that the Michigan AD had time to plan to make them, to borrow a phrase, "wow" events. The time/TV coverage wasn't just put together 5-6 days ahead.
Just sleep in on Saturday. Drive the two hours. Watch the game. Drive two hours home and recover on Sunday. You should even give yourself a couple hours for tailgating. Don't let these suits stop you from having a great time. I drove to Purdue and back in the same day. I also did Penn St in 28 hours with an eight hour tailgate before the game (slept in the car, I don't recommend trying that).
Go to the game and have a great time.
really wants you to go to the game. Can you just say you will, and we can all move on?
LOL. Helle, I'll do my best! You can stop posting now ;) ....I'll try to talk my husband into it. He was actually very enthused about it (and he's not a Michigan alum) but when he heard the time he immediately said, "Forget it!" Going to get in touch with the local alumni association and see if they have a bus or van going or there are any carpool options.

Almost everything in sports seems to be driven by television dollars.
Definitely nice having the night game. We saw how the sluggish atmosphere affected the team. I am expecting much more focus this week and a healthy margin of victory. We are certainly the more talented team, just need to play like it.
There will probably be more Michigan fans in CT than there were in the stadium yesterday! /s

Living in CT I do root for UConn EXCEPT when they play Michigan. I bought UConn season tickets to make sure I am at the game. Went to the UConn game last night; the are poorly coached and don't have a ton of talent. It looks like others took the same approach as me since I saw at least 10 others wearing Michigan gear like me. We were told we are a week early . . . Given how poorly UConn is playing, I expect a lot of locals to take the $$ from our fans than goto the game. I have 2 UConn grads on my team at work. I asked them if they wanted tickets. They said no, why pay to watch UConn get crushed. I think we get over 1/3 of the stadium.
Also, the UM Spirit Club of Hartford is also planning a tailgate. The info should be up on the Alumni Association page. Hope to see a bunch of Maize and Blue next week!
we should get the MICHIGAN GAME here i hope,GO BLUE!!! We won a CLASSIC letdown game yesterday,i'll take it.
Have to fly to Frankfurt at 6, was really hoping to catch the game at the airport beforehand :(
