Now now people.  Before the hate train gets-a-rollin'.  The dude suffered what appeared to be some pretty bad facial burns, which really sucks for him.  I dislike him just as much as anyone else, but if we could refrain from mocking his injuries, that'd be best.

(If you want to mock his commentary though, I say go for it)

Just saying that's what happened to me! Same alcohol and that mark on his cheek is IDENTICAL to mine. I put Neosporin on it, and it scabbed. It shrunk in size and lessened in redness and it was gone in about 6 months. I'm no doctor, but I can't imagine humans are so different that he would get different results for something so similar to what happened to me.

I just wonder if Ty Law would remember it. I was also a manager on the football team in 1994, so he might. It was a really stupid thing to do obviously, but hey that's college...

Those burns don't look too bad to me, I work in a kitchen as a cook, mostly grill and fryer, so I'll admit I'm used to it, but right now I've got three burns on my hands that are worse than those, and I have to go back and work with those burned hands over hot stoves every night and just deal with the pain until they heal.  The burns I have now are not the worst burns I've ever had, those ones faded away, and so will the ones I have now.

It just kinda bugs me that of course they're gonna make a big deal out of this, his lawyer is all over it lawyerspeaking the shit out of the situation, the restaurant has to stop serving it this way and they're probably gonna get sued, I don't think deserves compensation at all.

I guess the fact that I hate Valenti might effect my opinion, but whatever.

Not because of any anti-Valenti schadenfruede, but because I'm a very curious person and have never seen someone react to a steak induced flame injury. Does one get to skip out on the bill if this happens? Did he try and douse the fire with his drink? How did the waiter react? Is there protocol at the restaurant for this?

They prepare the steak tableside by tossing 151 rum on a hot platter?

I'd recommend skipping dessert.  Probably involves gunfire and smoke grenades.

I mean, did their insurance company ever ask "do you ever pour flammable liquids on hot surfaces in the middle of the goddamn restaurant?"

The "oh, I'm sorry, usually I'm slightly farther away before INITIATING THE INDOOR FIREBALL" defense is a notoriously weak one.

There's no way a guy gets burned like that unless the waiter got wayyy to close to him, or he moved toward the flame.  Either way, sucks for him.

That said, I haven't bothered with 97.1 since 105.1 came on the scene.  There's much more sports content (less "know what I hate about lunch meat" and whatnot).  105.1 is also a MUCH more positive station.  Everything at 97.1 is "your" ("Your" Lions suck; "Your" Tigers made a bad trade); whereas 105.1 is a "we" station.  105.1 might also be slightly skewed toward Michigan rather than strongly anti-Michigan.  Even the MSU-rep on 105.1 (Rico Sparty) does a really nice job as a host/personality.  Sports without constant negativity?  Yes please.

Yeah, nobody deserves to be burned this badly, at least not for being an ass on tha radio.  That said, I do find it humorous that the injury happened while ordering a Flaming Tomahawk steak, which is the most Shock Jock food name I could think of.
