I'm still interested in what Maurice Hurst might someday do, in addition to Mone and Pallante. We have a few large young gentleman who could eat runs after Pip/Henry graduate.
|3 days 12 hours ago||Erik Swensen||
Just needs a shallow hulled ship to sail up from Illinois in.

Another new OSU troll in the front page game thread who goes by Urban_Warfare. Besides trolling, he's stealing the name of one of our decent Buckeye friends who posts respectfully and thoughtfully.

Grass is always greener...

Illinois' AD hired Beckman, however, and probably will stick with him a little longer than an inherited guy. Plus, Beckman pulled Wes Lunt back from OSU, so they'll want to see what he does with him. Unless there's a relative big-timer ready to come to IL (HA!), I think he gets another year or two.
|4 days 17 hours ago||To be clear||
...CalPoppy is a reasonable guy. My reply was to someone who went bye-bye, so I guess I'm not the only one who found the original post trolling. And that guy was full-on James Spader smarmy.

I haven't really followed your O-line recruiting. How is Urbz doing in that regard?
|5 days 6 hours ago||Yeah...||
Just looking for a dialogue by saying that feeling "happy" or optimistic spells doom for the fanbase and team. Nope, no trolling. Not inflammatory or anything.

Nice English, bud. Go read you're dictionary.
|5 days 9 hours ago||Ummm.||
You forgot to call people like me pussies. You're off your game, man.
|5 days 10 hours ago||No, you're not being a dick.||
No, you're not being a dick. Your point is well-taken, and there a lot of others on the board tonight who agree. I'm taking more of a long game point of view (we're going to be good!) probably due to having sat through some rough seasons years ago while young guys get experience. But your disappointment is shared by the seniors who were actually on the field today. They don't care about next year. So your reaction fits theirs.
|5 days 10 hours ago||Thanks for the laugh. Been a||
Thanks for the laugh. Been a long time since I got challenged to a bar fight, and here I am in my living room. Kind of incogruous.
Oh wait...that's probably a little hard for you. How about..."Fuck you, man. You wanna go, just give your purse to your boyfriend and step outside." That better?
|5 days 10 hours ago||Know what...||
I'm going to seriously answer your question. I'll think Hoke is not the guy when the recruits of 2012 and 2013 completely flame out as juniors and seniors. Not before.
Pardon my patience.
Also, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but nobody who matters gives a shit about what I think...and they don't care what you think either.

True Blue Grit has been a solid and respectful contributor for a long time and certainly doesn't deserve this kind of nonsense. If you disagree with him, say so and explain yourself respectfully. He deserves no less.

Not sure what you did in the past to lose a million points, because in the here and now, this is a beautiful sentiment.
|5 days 11 hours ago||I'll probably get torn a new||
I'll probably get torn a new asshole shortly, but...
This team is short on expereince on both side of the ball. REALLY short. That's been our biggest issue all year. The trajectory is up as a result as we return a huge percentage of starters/two deep.
Thanks, though, for recognizing that there were frustrations coming from Not Al Borges during the season.

Erik Swensen--may B1G DL someday pray, "Save us from the fury of the Northman."
|1 week 4 days ago||Thanks, BB||
This is positive news that is appreciated.

I thought about Stanford's OC but wonder if he'd prefer to stay there.
I also did search for threads with actual names but could only find one that was 95% jokes. The only serious answers I saw were Minny's and Missouri's OCs. So that's why I asked. I was curious about specific options.
|1 week 4 days ago||Serious question||
If Borges is fired, then who replaces him? I'm not serious enough a fan to be able to rattle off hot OCs' names. Also, I assume a new OC would have to be able to work with the players in place and in the pipeline (in other words, not a spread guy). So, to the 5000 people who want Al gone, who do you like in his place?

RR players like Junior Hemmingway, Mary Huyge, Kevin Koger, Daryl Stonum, Ryan Van Bergan, Mike Nartin, David Molk, Kenny Demens, Troy Woolfolk...hell, even Will Heininger did OK.
Yes, a lot of key guys were from Rich, no doubt. But a lot were recruited by Lloyd, too.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Good god||
I really hope my sarcasm meter needs adjusting, or are we next stooping to accusations that he's parking too close to the line and not replacing the toilet paper after using the last few squares?

Don't you have 7th grade B-team basketball practice or something to take care of?
|3 weeks 3 days ago||And there was this nugget||
And there was this nugget from Miss State player K.J. Wright after THAT bowl game:
"I knew from watching film they were real predictable with what they were doing. I just looked at the formation and before the ball was snapped, Chris (White) and I knew what they were doing."
I'm not football-smart enough to give an answer to our issues, but there's evidence that no one scheme is the be all/end all.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||It's all in how you prepare||
It's all in how you prepare it, junior. Also, remember that all senses dull as you age (particularly true for hearing if you were stoned in the 5th row of the 1977 Flint IMA Rush show and other such endeavors), so we want highly flavorful stuff so we can, you know, taste it.

...everyone! Between the fart section of this thread and the entire faux Drew/Valenti threads, I've had more fun on Mgo since....well, it's been awhile. To show my appreciation, I'm clicking on the ad at the top of the page and signing up for CPA courses at Elmhurst College.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||Can't pinpoint a moment...||
...but it occurred to me that I don't laugh very much anymore. Afterall, it's just football from the ol' alma mater. Yes, I take it too seriously, but it's still supposed to be fun and a diversion from what's really important. So, on the blog, I miss stuff like J.Hackney and Watersdemos that didn't really have a lot to do with football but were interesting and/or funny. Or Blueseoul's breakdowns that were hilarious, even when I was too much of a football dummy to understand the nuance.
That was a longwinded way of saying it's just too goddamn serious these days and the negativity ruins things for me.

Huyge is a marine engineer. I have no clue how he handled the workload of starting offensive lineman and engineering.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Thanks, Ron!||
I love that I can come here and get insightful analysis from someone who truly knows the game. Your effort's appreciated.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||I believe his "falling all||
I believe his "falling all over themselves praising him" line was in reference to HOKE'S relationships with former players, which is a valid point. Obviously, Pelini has his issues and this line was meant to show some contrast, but wasn't stated as clearly as it could be.
