Between this and the YouTube TV thing, 2021 really is the year for Cable Subscribers to thump their chests for unsound reasons.

If I’m this guy, I get my name legally changed to Jame Skratch. It sounds cooler and the kids from grade school can’t call him crotch any longer.

Beat me by a bit...I never miss a chance to post this gem, though. It's all about the journey
...in the weight room....

I deleted yours a minute ago even though that was one great OP title, ya sicko!

Rutger loses to Maryland, yet goes to the Gator Bowl > Pinstripe Bowl.
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:22 PM ^
The Red Knights are scurrying to jump on flights from Newark or LaGuardia or even Trenton to play in FL.
Who the hell wants to spend a week in winter in the Bronx?
December 23rd, 2021 at 8:18 AM ^
Apparently, they made it in because they had the highest APR among 5-7 teams. So...good job Rutger!
December 23rd, 2021 at 8:50 AM ^
Good for Rutgers and good luck in the gator bowl
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:28 PM ^
Harbaugh had it planned all along. It's why he let them stay so close.
December 23rd, 2021 at 9:25 AM ^
Someone pointed out that this is the most prestigious bowl game in program history. Which is pretty funny, but if you look at the list absolutely true

Not quite #cannonintheD but a nice reward for the Knights in Scarlet.

Their fans are beyond ecstatic!!!
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:14 PM ^
Um, I'm pretty sure those are oompa loompas.
December 23rd, 2021 at 5:40 AM ^
outstanding pad level
December 23rd, 2021 at 10:03 AM ^
Is being an Oompa mutually exclusive from being a Rutger fan? I think perhaps one can be both simultaneously (and often is).
December 23rd, 2021 at 10:37 AM ^
As my Christmas wish from the Board, I beg of you... more pictures of "Rutgers Fan" (i.e. New Jersey guidos/The Situation and his ilk/Overpumped Jersey Shore steroid jockeys). Never fails to crack me up.
December 22nd, 2021 at 9:28 PM ^
Well, it's more money for the B1G!
December 23rd, 2021 at 9:01 AM ^
Congratulations to Rutger on their hard- earned and well-deserved bowl invitation.

Now watch Rutgers win the game. I wouldn't be all that surprised. Wake Forest has done well this season offensively but their defense sucks. I think Rutgers can hook and jab them to death and make defensive stops when needed.
December 22nd, 2021 at 9:29 PM ^
So where are the RU players right now? Were they staying in New Jersey, on bowl standby status?
If they've gone home to their families, that's going to be a mess.
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:11 PM ^
“Hey Isaih, how’s your vacation been going? Enjoying your time with the family? Hope you haven’t eaten too many Christmas cookies ‘cause Santa just gave our team a big surprise!”
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:54 PM ^
The whole team is basically either from Jersey or Tampa, so no problems there. Except for Korsak; if he’s gone back to Australia, they’re down an MVP.
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:21 AM ^
If their players have gone home, aside from any transportation issues, from a Covid standpoint Rutgers is going to have to scramble to get these guys tested before they all come back together. What are the odds that they, too, won't have infected players?
And then there's just the matter that their season has been over since November 27 and it's now nearly Christmas. It will be interesting to see where they will be from a physical and motivational standpoint.
December 23rd, 2021 at 8:23 AM ^
I doubt Rutger would have accepted the invite if they had any questions about getting the team back together. Motivationally, they'll be happy as larks they get to play - they'll be fired up and ready to go. Physically, and from a game plan/management standpoint, it's going to be pretty questionable.
But good for them for being ready, and willing, to step into the fire for a payday!
This is the time to pull for a Rutger football win. I mean, they are rep'ing the B1G...
::I just vomited in mouth::
December 23rd, 2021 at 11:14 AM ^
Rutgers just learned yesterday afternoon that they might be able to go to the bowl. I'm not sure the Big Ten even allows teams to decline bowl bids, but even if so, they didn't have much time to gauge their players' sentiment.
I'll be shocked if this game is competitive. A 5-7 RU team that hasn't practiced in a month (and who knows how many seniors will show up?) has to play a 10-3 Wake Forest team that's been at it the whole time.
December 23rd, 2021 at 9:54 AM ^
Again, this repeated misnomer that teams need or are testing their healthy players. This is not the olympics. No team is testing, individual players /coaches around the country are reacting to symptoms by getting tested.
December 23rd, 2021 at 11:47 AM ^
So a couple dozen Texas A&M players got tested on their own volition? Same for the Georgia guys that tested positive? Somehow I find this doubtful.
December 23rd, 2021 at 3:20 PM ^
Maybe different testing rules if you aren't vaccinated? Neither Texas A&M nor Georgia required their students to be vaccinated like Michigan did.
December 22nd, 2021 at 9:30 PM ^
lol Rutgers hasn't even practiced in a month.
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:01 PM ^
Would anyone notice if they had?
December 23rd, 2021 at 10:14 AM ^
LOL. You slay Ukraine, er, I mean me, Vlad.

Poor Indiana, only Big Ten East team not going bowling
December 22nd, 2021 at 11:30 PM ^
...yet. Patience, my friend. Patience.

It's like a script out of Hollywood!
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:19 PM ^
Or Camden or East Orange and therefore not that great of a script.
December 22nd, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
It's sort of funny that the reason they are going bowling is because of a higher APR score than the other 5-7 teams. Remember kids - school is cool!
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:02 PM ^
Ahhhhh APR. got it. That is fair and a great reward for those kids.
December 22nd, 2021 at 9:59 PM ^
Go, Big Ten!
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:01 PM ^
This is fuckn awesome for the B1G but why not Illinois ? Illini got a better resume.
But I like this. These games mean something. Next team up + let’s go!
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:12 AM ^
It's not a done deal. It's only if they go based on APR. Illinois is petitioning to go and the Jaguars owner is an alum of the school. I dislike Schiano, so I won't shed a tear for them if Illinois gets picked over them. Plus I'd love to see our "rivals" go bowling.
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:12 PM ^
Rutgers. The Bishop Sycamore of college football.
What? Get ready in a couple of days? Sure, count us in if there's a paycheck!
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:22 PM ^
Hope that isn’t the case because if so, Bishop Sycamore played us tougher than 3/4 of our schedule this year…
December 22nd, 2021 at 10:58 PM ^
Bishop Sycamore played us WAAYYYY tougher than OSU
December 22nd, 2021 at 11:26 PM ^
Rutgers: College football's most available team!
December 23rd, 2021 at 2:10 PM ^
Seems likely that Rutgers will be very rusty. Besides the $, Rutgers also gets to say it went bowling in 2021 and they get a few more practices, which will help 2022 prep. Not to mention, the players get a free trip.
In short, lots of reasons, besides just $, that this is good for Rutgers football.
