New development - Rutgers is going bowling

The Gator Bowl had an opening and Schiano's boys were ready!

So where are the RU players right now?  Were they staying in New Jersey, on bowl standby status?

If they've gone home to their families, that's going to be a mess.

If their players have gone home, aside from any transportation issues, from a Covid standpoint Rutgers is going to have to scramble to get these guys tested before they all come back together.  What are the odds that they, too, won't have infected players?

And then there's just the matter that their season has been over since November 27 and it's now nearly Christmas.  It will be interesting to see where they will be from a physical and motivational standpoint.

I doubt Rutger would have accepted the invite if they had any questions about getting the team back together.  Motivationally, they'll be happy as larks they get to play - they'll be fired up and ready to go.  Physically, and from a game plan/management standpoint, it's going to be pretty questionable.

But good for them for being ready, and willing, to step into the fire for a payday!

This is the time to pull for a Rutger football win.  I mean, they are rep'ing the B1G...

Rutgers just learned yesterday afternoon that they might be able to go to the bowl.  I'm not sure the Big Ten even allows teams to decline bowl bids, but even if so, they didn't have much time to gauge their players' sentiment.

I'll be shocked if this game is competitive.  A 5-7 RU team that hasn't practiced in a month (and who knows how many seniors will show up?) has to play a 10-3 Wake Forest team that's been at it the whole time.

It's sort of funny that the reason they are going bowling is because of a higher APR score than the other 5-7 teams.  Remember kids - school is cool!

This is fuckn awesome for the B1G but why not Illinois ? Illini got a better resume.

But I like this. These games mean something. Next team up + let’s go!

Seems likely that Rutgers will be very rusty.  Besides the $, Rutgers also gets to say it went bowling in 2021 and they get a few more practices, which will help 2022 prep.  Not to mention, the players get a free trip.

In short, lots of reasons, besides just $, that this is good for Rutgers football.
