MSU bumper sticker
I am driving around Metro Detroit the other day and I see a bumper sticker that is all green and white and it says "MSU is THE University of Michigan" (emphasis on THE like OSU does). If it wasn't green and white I would not have known what to make of it and even then I was like WTF?
While on pointless subjects to help bridge the time until Saturday, did anyone else notice the brief frame shot of Vincent Smith on the 4th and 1 in the 3rd quarter? He lines up to the right of Denard and looks straight at the NW linebackers and makes both hands into guns and pulls the trigger. Then they ran straight at him and picked up the first down, I loved it.
Go Blue!

I didn't see that. Vinny is the man.

Didn't see it either, but that sounds awesome.

I'm re-watching the game right now and I've noticed it a few times. He does it right before he gets set. He did it on the 4th and 1 in the second quarter, the next play after that and then the first play in the 3rd quarter. I would imagine he does it every play but we just don't see it because the camera doesn't show the offense until after they are set.

Anyone have a direct link to the play or a way to see it online?

..big thanks to @mgovideo (Boyz n da Pahokee) for making me this gif yesterday.

I saw that and figured it had something to do with the play - some type of line audible. But to think he just eyeballed the guy and did the double fingers is great. Of course, nothing will beat this.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:28 AM ^
It's just a small portion of MSU fans who are trying to one-up Michigan and embarrassing themselves in the process.
And yeah I saw that bit with Smith, kinda fun to see we have a little swagger
October 12th, 2011 at 10:56 AM ^
I think what they meant to say was, "MSU wishes they were the University of Michigan."
October 12th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
Sorry, I'm compulsively down voting any overused/overrated memes and any uses of "swagger". I actually agree with your post... Aside from the use of the s word.
October 12th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Seconded. "Swag" is even worse.
October 12th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
I'm out of the loop. When did swag change from "stuff we all get" to shortened swagger? My wife watches So You Think You Can Dance and they are always saying so and so has swag and I think wtf?
October 12th, 2011 at 2:23 PM ^
I don't know. The old old meaning of swag was literally, a bag of stolen clothes. So maybe it's cool to have swag because you're wearing clothes that you stole and are therefore a badass with swag?
Or maybe there's a new french-language thing in the hip hop community where it's cool to just not pronounce the last few letters of a word.
October 12th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
It's a hip-hop world son, keep up or get out of the way.
Swag/ swagger is overrated, maybe we should all switch over to using moxy. That was popular last season.

Someone please provide clip now. And as far as the bumper sticker, that's bush league. What do we expect from Sparty though.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:39 AM ^
a Michigan fan with anything equivalent. :/
It's a bumper sticker meant to get under the skin of Michigan fans. From your reponse, it appears that they have successfully attained that goal.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
No, it made me scratch my head and then laugh b/c it doesn't really make sense. Trust me I am not worked up about it, just getting worked up about this game and the fact that this week is creeping by.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:43 AM ^
I mean, technically we do have the "Harvard is the Michigan of the East" meme around campus (see: T-shirts sold at various shops on State street)
October 12th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
Actually I believe that came from JFK.
October 12th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
Yes, this. That's an actual quote from an actual president. Not just some made up tripe.
Also, space bitches. #Apollo'd.
October 12th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
I can easily imagine him calling Michigan "the Harvard of the West." It's a lot harder to imagine him putting down his alma mater.

I see no hyperbole whatsoever. Go Blue

It's not under my skin as much as it's like, huh? Kind of like Jim Lachey calling Michigan State just Michigan during their game with Ohio, like Hoke's "Ohio". It's trying to be innovative and fresh but ends up just being a big fail.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:39 AM ^
"My daughter is a 25k a year blowjob machine at Michigan State University"
October 12th, 2011 at 11:05 AM ^
Something like that would almost make me go to MSU. But then the thought of my dick falling off would stop me.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
but I used to be married into a family of Sparties who had season tix. One year the game was in EL, and I saw MSU students with shirts that said "Wolverines Fuck Squirrels". It's stupid yet kinda funny.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:43 AM ^
That sounds almost surreal. I thought Wolverines actually ate squirrels but whatever. I wont go where my mind is going to though.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:48 AM ^
Wolverines f#%k whatever the hell they want! That is pretty funny though.
I think I heard somewhere that the wolverine is the only known animal to attack a grizzly bear. Anyone know if this is true?
October 12th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
I'm not sure if attack is the right word but they will sometimes chase grizzlies off kills.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
In my book, if you run towards a grizzly bear and it runs away, you've pretty much kicked its ass. Also, I'm surprised you can run anywhere because you've got balls big as church bells.

2. Shooting/chasing/harrassing in some manner a dude on a buffalo
3. Going in against a Sicilian when death is on the line

Check out Youtube for some videos of it. I'd post some videos, but I'm on my phone.

Holy Sh!t did anyone else know that Wolverines are Denard fast? Remind me to GTFO if I ever see one in the wild...
October 12th, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
I don't get it... Why is that supposed to be funny?
October 12th, 2011 at 11:32 AM ^
Brennen Beyer's tweets about touching squirrels. Of course, touching may mean something different in EL for all we know.
October 12th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
Were those squirrels green and white?
October 12th, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
Eww, that sounds diseased.
October 12th, 2011 at 10:53 AM ^
Texas A&M is also trying to position itself as THE university in Texas. It's pretty blatant in that video that they made for their SEC announcement. The opening line: "First in Texas."
October 12th, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
A&M might have the little brother syndrom worse than Sparty
October 12th, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
Given relatively recent history I thought the world's largest bonfire references in a bit of bad taste.
