Michigan crap you got today

Submitted by jeag on
As I opened a pair of Walmart Wolverine pajama bottoms this morning, I realized just how much Michigan memorabilia I receive every Christmas. Apparently, if you're not my mom, dad, or brother, and you want to give me a gift worth between five and forty dollars, the first thing you think is, "Hey, I think that guy really likes Michigan sports, or something!" They are correct, of course. And the gifts that result are more thoughtful than ornaments or dancing Santas. HOWEVA, they're getting out of hand. I own all of these items: -Set of four M tumblers -Two M shot glasses -One cracked M beer mug (apparently not dishwasher safe) -M bottle opener that plays the Victors (cool at first, but by beer three you need a quieter method) -Three different M coffee mugs -One M travel coffee mug -Michiganopoly (unopened) -Michigan Football Heroes playing cards (fun, but incapable of counting Euchre points) -Michigan Football Memories DVD (unopened) -M Alumni license plate holder (unused) -M rear-window sticker -M bumper sticker (unused) -M key ring -Three M baseball caps (I don't wear baseball caps) -Three M hoodies (I wear two) -Approximately ten presentable M T-shirts (I wear about three of these) -Approximately fifteen ugly M T-shirts from Walmart, Sam's Club, Meijer, or Ann Arbor street vendors (unworn) -M polo shirt -Aforementioned M pajama pants (Zubaz?) -Michigan Stadium poster (featuring the Halo!) -Winged helmet poster -Three M Starting Lineup guys (Woodson, Howard, Harbaugh) -Bo-autographed mini football I can't be a beautiful and unique snowflake in this regard. So what kind of Michigan stuff did you get this year, and is it cool or is it crap?

I bought it for myself last week at Costco. It's like a giant scrapbook and comes in a case. There's a ton that makes it book-like and it's very informative, but it's way more than a book. On various pages there are pockets that hold stuff like postcards of programs from the 20s and pages with flaps and replica tickets, old newspaper cartoons and even a replica ticket order card from the 1965 season. Oh, and a super sexy picture of Mike Hart to boot. It's pretty much the best book ever.

For the first time ever, absolutely nothing!! Last year's largesse: DVD of 1969, 1997, and 2003 Ohio State games; Nutcracker decked out in Meechigan gear; Michigan magnet that plays fightsong; Michigan wine bottle sleeve. I gave many Michigan-related presents: workout gear, calendar with vintage programs, tailgating paraphenalia

No Michigan stuff this Christmas, but last Christmas I got a set of M drink coasters and a Michigan scoreboard wall clock. I absolutely loved the clock, it's probably one of the neatest gifts I've gotten lately.

one of the adidas long sleeve T's, the nice fleece with the M in the middle, and a light jacket. I got my mom the Michigan snuggie, and my dad is now the proud owner of maize and blue golf balls and tees.

I got this: http://mgoblueshop.com/main_detail.cfm?nProductID=29792&sAuxTitle=Women… Anddd maize & blue M knee socks and a reversible M beanie that has "MICHIGAN" on one side and WOLVERINES on the other. And Angelique Chengelis' book, 100 things Michigan Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die. PS, it bothers me that I could not underline the above book title. Edit: one of my cousins (an MSU alum) got me a bunch of Columbia stuff including this: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3425829&CAWE… He said buying it killed him a little inside. It's fleece-lined and awesome, I'm so ready for late October/November games! 3

MGoJen- Pictures are pretty easy, start with the basics (no size scaling or you tube videos) Here is how you embed an image (also check ShockFX's handy HTML tips) The above code in red is an image tag, simply cut and paste this bit of HTML code EXACTLY as you see it anywhere in your message. Next, remove everything within the quotation marks. Now, add the web address for an image (in your case, the address for the shirt picture) between the quotation marks. No spaces. Your shirt image address is this: http://mgoblueshop.com/images/products/large/74_29792.jpg Now I'll paste it inside the quotes and see if it shows up when I submit my message. (preview doesn't seem to work for me anymore, maybe Safari-related) Here it is: Now, you have to use an image that lives online somewhere. Either from another site, or one of your own pictures that you've uploaded to a personal web space or image account service like flickr. Any image address you put in between those quote marks in that line of code should show up for you. Hope this helps, MC, HH, or whatever floats your boat.

An M leather coat, white polo(like the one rich wears all the time), a car window decal and a towel. Oh, and if it is Michigan apparel or Michigan anything and I don't have it, I WANT IT!

My parents gave me a picture frame designed to look like a Michigan hoodie. The weird part was that the sample picture was clearly pregame at the Horseshoe. The field markings were photoshopped out and the endzones say "GAMEDAY" but there is a band with butt-ugly uniforms spelling out a certain state in script. Ugh.

My parents got me like a 2 ft section of the original California redwood bench seating from the stadium that they tore out with the old metal benches. From section 39, has the #23 faintly painted on it. Badass.

I got a very nice Michigan hoodie, some Michigan sweatpants (that are really nice), and a DVD of Michigan football history.

My sister got me a bundle of NY Times headlines of Michigan football's greatest moments. A little confused why they were selling NY Times and not the News or Freep at Henry Ford, but hey, at least there is a sweet pic of Lloyd being carried off the field. Merry Christmas and Go Blue!

I thought this would be the first year since high school that I wouldn't receive anything M related, until my mom busted out a 2010 M calendar that plays the victors when you push a button.

3 Michigan shirts (All a size too big) Michigan Lounge Pants (My 3rd pair now...) Some Nice Michigan slippers A Michigan cutting board A musical Michigan pizza cutter (Plays fight song when pressure is applied to the blade. Kinda lame, as it only plays the second half of the chorus, but still better than an ordinary pizza cutter)

So, I graduated Michigan in 2006. This entire time, I swore up and down that I never received my diploma in the mail. In fact, I had dreams that I got a phone call from the registrar's office saying I was one class shy of graduating. Anyway, I found my diploma randomly around my house. My girlfriend ordered me a case for it and it also came with a Michigan bear, which I then gave to my one and a half year-old brother. My Step-dad went to ND, but my baby brother LOVES this bear. In fact, he chants "Blue" when I say "Go!" Starting the recruiting early....

I always seem to get M trinkets. I have a half dozen of those Fight Song Bottle Openers, an M trash can, countless mugs and beer glasses, stickers, tattoos, etc. The worst is when someone thinks you'll wear something just just because it has a block M on it.....

my bro knows an overseas outfit that sells authentic jerseys with player names and numbers. he purchased me a rose blue michigan jersey, my brother a maize rose jersey and a manny harris maize jersey for my other brother. he bought himself a morris peterson and respert jersey (he is an msu grad) all teams and schools available. they are not adidas but better jerseys in that the materials are better and they are stitched in. cant give away the source....its obviously illegal, but it is an overseas outfit and i want to buy more. i was thinking a georgetown iverson jersey for my next one. (im a fan of jerseys in general) jerseys are cheap to boot...only 40 bucks each, but sh is expensive due to overseas shipping. we could easily sell these jerseys for at least 80 bucks here...were thinking of setting up an operation but dont want to get dinged by the law. anyway they are tight as hell i will keep you all updated.

Two significant Michigan items of note today. I go to school at The University of Dayton, which is about an hour west of Columbus. When the now famous "Worst State Ever" t-shirt was unveiled, I showed it to my dad, and we both had a chuckle. Never did I to expect to open it up this morning. Needless to say, I will be wearing upon my return to Ohio to irritate two of my Ohioan roommates. The other item I am looking forward to is a book entitled 100 Things Michigan Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die. I am anxiously awaiting reading it.

Its pretty epic, unless you are playing Nertz or speed, or some other fast paced game where you need to see the suit and how many very quickly. I get distracted by the people/facts about them.

- Adidas climalite maize shorts, - Block M magnet - M cufflinks - M rain poncho (hope not to use often) - M bad call brick (hope to use less often than the poncho) - M light switch cover - Long sleeve Michigan t-shirt - 2010 Michigan calendar - 2 Michigan aluminum 1L bottles - M-Den gift card (will use tomorrow when they open) - Michigan themed Christmas Greeting Card - Michigan stadium seat back - Michigan football helmet Christmas ornament - Michigan coat hook - University of Michgan Seal Window decal - and 1 annoying brother-in-law that rips on Rodriguez just to piss me off, whom I proceeded to tell he is an outsider for not being "all-in" and thanked him for spending money to support MY school. My favorite: the shorts. Least favorite: the brother in-law.

When the kids were younger, the wife would do a great job of selecting M "stuff" for me and I would do the same for her. As the kids reached high school, they wanted to get their own gifts for us (with their own money - YEAH). So this year, I received a Michigan Hammer with a handle that approximates a football. My wife received a set of salt-n-peper shakers that look like jerseys that she exclaimed "these are so ugly", which than became our mantra for the day. Every present opened became the ugliest one every opened. Thank goodness for M paraphenalia - we've been getting it for over 20 years and hope to get these "tacky" to "amazing" gifts for another 20+ years.
