I wish there was a way to…

I wish there was a way to see who started a post before opening it.  I’d avoid all of your posts.

Also good job continually lifting information from the VB.

You need to stop making…

You need to stop making posts every time you read something on the Edge of the Internet.  In fact, continually doing this should be ban worthy. You think you’re breaking news but you’re not.

1) Reporting casual and unsubstantiated posts there weren’t intended to be broadcast is nothing more than rumor mongering. No mainstream sources have backed any of this up.

2) They have asked people not to cross reference and post on other boards, yet you’ve continued to do so.  There is a reason your other post got taken down.

For those there, are there…

For those there, are there any pop up merchandise stores downtown? Wanted to buy some gear before heading to game.

Anyone know what sections…

Anyone know what sections the two bands will be in? Saw a pair but on a seat view site, saw pics of that section often having the band.  Didn’t want to be stuck behind them.

Also anyone familiar with what the Bullpen sections that say standing for the most of the game is likely?

I’m pretty sure the NCAA…

I’m pretty sure the NCAA leaks are a violation of their own rules.  I don’t think they like the fact that Jim put out his own statement and clearly have an axe to grind with him.

If we had a stronger AD with a spine, we would have been pushing back and controlling the narrative. But Warde is a useless stooge…

Any must have WI beers?  I’ve had some Central Waters stuff and thought they were solid.  New Glarus sounds like a must do.  Anything else must haves or whales?  Was looking online and through Untappd.

Yes, thanks!

New to these.  What is the difference between the MgoPodcast, MgoRadio and WTKA Roundtable?  All of them show up on my Podcast feed and it seems like all feature Brian and someone else.  Curious to know the difference.

As a former DC at Michigan,

As a former DC at Michigan, he'll always be a Michigan man.  Though his legacy in college football will always be as the Dawgfather.

Gary Payton isn't a HOFer?

Gary Payton isn't a HOFer?  Really?  That's one of the worst examples you could think of.  He was a slam dunk HOF under any metric.

I agree with everything you

I agree with everything you said.  However, I think he makes it.  Why?

Because I think the threshold to make it into the Basketball HOF is incredibly low.  Guys like Mullen and King (and dare I say Dumars, sorry Pistons fans) were very, very good players.  But they probably weren't great players or elite players and I think they wouldn't get in if we were talking about the standards of the Baseball or Pro Football HOF.

But you have smaller rosters (and thus less players that played over the years), but are still inducting at least the same number of players per year (if not more) than football and are certainly inducting many more players per year than baseball.

As good as he was, and as much as I love(d) CWebb, it's hard not to look at his pro career and think he could have been so much more.

Well there are plenty of

Well there are plenty of tickets available if you look at the spreadsheet. I myself am selling 4 (got other tickets elsewhere in the stadium) and just looking to get back what I spent on dynamic pricing.

I posted in the spreadsheet, but feel free to email if interested: [email protected]

How does the alumni tix work?  I could of sworn that I went to the local alumni website and they have a sign up in spring but they said that it didn't include the ND or OSU games.  Felt it kind of defeated the point.

Didn't he have a major pec injury that caused him to miss the entire season?

Used to love the show when it started and the first couple of years. I still watched it, but it sould have ended a few years ago.

Kind of indicative about our attention spans these days. Hard to make it so long through a show so long w/o getting bored and distinterested with it.

NIT Rule

This is a NIT rule.  MSG sells alcohol almost every other college bball game (Cuse, St. Johns, & Big East tournament).  If you had gone to the UM game at Barclays in Brooklyn you could have had as much beer as you wanted.

FWIW I got an email two days

FWIW I got an email two days ago from the MSG email list serve that said limited nubmer of tickets were just released.  I'd check ticketmaster first.

I don't think any of your

I don't think any of your questions were unfair or anything (outside of the sheer number of questions!).

You have to understand that a lot of these things are unknown.  Media access has been very restrictive under Hoke, in contrast to the RR days. Therefore, we don't know all the answers about our guys now.  The joke was that UM football was known as "the Fort" under Lloyd Carr due to the limited information being leaked out, and many think Hoke has gotten back to that.

FWIW, we didn't take RR way from you guys. He turned the Bama job down the year before, so if anything, we should have lamented that you didn't take him away from us.

He is.  It's really just the height thing that was holding him back.  If he was 4 inches taller he'd be a surefire first round pick and probably a top 10 pick.  I bet he'd be taken before Tannehill.

True, but he was pretty

True, but he was pretty awesome at NC State before that. Some people (myself included) thought coming into last season that he was the best QB in the league, before he even played a Big 10 game.

You're misinformed

Flynn wasn't paid a ridiculous amount of money. He signed a 3 year, $19.5 million contract.  That's not particularly high for a starting QB, but I think less than half of that is guaranteed. He's only owed $2 million for this season.

Ask Arizona if Carroll is doing it right. They did the same thing, signing the hot backup (Kolb) but threw tons of money at him.  Carroll signed Flynn to a manageable contract and then had him compete for the job.  If he sucks and he doesn't pan out, it's okay.  Flynn's contract is easily swallowable by Seattle. Kolb's is not.  A good calculated risk by Pete.

Have you watched the NFL the

Have you watched the NFL the last 6 years? TJ is a decent backup. That's all.

I disagree with most of the

I disagree with most of the comments here.  I don't think it's ever appropriate for a coach to put his hands on a player in such a manner. The fact that he's a guy and she a women makes it worst. Please don't justify his behavior.

Have to disagree with you on

Have to disagree with you on your characterization of NYC alums.  We've had really good turnout for a lot of events.  In particular the coach series talk and the Desmond talk were completely packed and filled to the brim.

I personally didn't know of the event until earlier this week.  I'm not sure I'd characterize the publicizing of the event as all that great.  I'm sure an email or two were sent out, but I remember hearing about the Hoke/Desmond events well in advance.

I think there are a couple of factors that could explain the turnout:

- It wasn't as well publicized as other events have been. Like I said, I didn't know about it until Monday. It's possible that I just didn't read the emails sent out.

- Not sure where they had it this year, but the location the last time I went (at Brother Jimmy's) I thought was difficult for this event.  Brian had his powerpoint and it was difficult seeing in the cramped backroom that everyone was in.

- A lot of the alums in NY are older and aren't familiar with MgoBlog or either or those guys. Yeah, obviously there are tons of new alums (just go to Prof. Thoms on a game Saturday), but a lot of the alums aren't recent grads.  While myself and a lot of my friends are obsessed with all things Michigan, the majority of people I went to school with have no idea what Mgoblog is.

- The year I did go see Brian speak, he was going over his presentation and then having a Q&A.  While I enjoyed myself, I remember being a bit disappointed in that I already new everything he was saying and his responses from reading the blog.

It is unfortunate that it wasn't better attended. Seems as though Brian and Tom were gracious enough to visit and it would have been great if more people had come out. I would have stopped by myself, if my schedule had permitted.  However, it's a bit unfair to rush to judgment on this for the aforementioned reasons.

Uphill battle. None of the

Uphill battle. None of the Euro guys outside Timmy Howard are playing. Mostly MLS guys/guys playing in the Americas.

Still pops up on campus now and then

Yeah, he's definitely still a huge M fan.  He was in town for the UM-Ohio game in 2005.  Got a chance to meet him and chat with him at Ricks that weekend.  He seemed pretty cool and was pretty approachable.  I thought it was cool that he was just chilling there and nobody was really bothering him.

Maybe it hasn't always been

Maybe it hasn't always been the rule, but Chris Fowler said it last year (or the year before) that that's the rule.  Sounds like what they're doing going forward.

They're not going to Baton

They're not going to Baton Rouge twice, b/c they don't go to the same place more than once in a season. That's already been established.

They're not doing 3 M games this year.  Same with 3 MSU games too.

standard conversation

Fan 1: scUM sucks, you didn't even go there. Walmart wolverine!

Fan 2: Yes, I did.

Fan 1: Okay, you can say whatever you want then.

Fan 2: Shut up.  I asked for blue cheese on my burger, not any of this processed crap.

Fan 1: Yes, sir.

Thabeet, not Darko

Boom or bust project. Not really a reach as he was projected as high as 5th. But this guy is def a polarizing pick.

I wouldn't worry that he'd be the next Darko, but considering their both 7 foot projects w limited offensive game and from UConn, I think a Thabeet comparison is apropos.

Agree with this. Some guy are

Agree with this. Some guy are definitely busts (Boisture), while others who have gotten significant playing experience haven't shown anything in extended time (Heaps, Bolden).  But guys like Bell aren't fair to judge because he was stuck behind a very good QB in Jones for so many years.  He still has time.  Same with a guy like Montana.  He probably committed thinking he was the heir apparent to Jake Locker.  No one knew Keith Price was going to be a stud. Since Price is only one class year ahead of Montana, Montana wouldn't play until he was a Sr.  So not really fair to judge him either.

This is not RCMB.  We don't need to make a post anytime our in-state rival scores a commitment.

Iowa just got a commitment the other day.  Maybe you should make a post about that too.

You're reading into and

You're reading into and taking this stuff way too seriously. Who cares what OSU or Ohio U fans say? If Brady Hoke wants to have fun with it, he's more than entitled to do whatever he wants.

Two things

First off, D'Antoni's teams don't play defense. Nash is not a paricularly great defender. Part of that is because he tries to have his player's conserve their efforts on the defensive side.

Second, Lin is not a great shooter. He finishes well but his outside shooting is suspect. Over the last few weeks, he's been averaging around 37% on his FG pct.

Pac- 12 is 1-1. Play in game

Pac- 12 is 1-1. Play in game counts, and they lost to USF.

Watch the ESPN 60 on Rumeal

Watch the ESPN 60 on Rumeal Robinson. He's a POS human being.

That tattoo screams "Walmart

That tattoo screams "Walmart Wolverine".  It's your body, so you're obviously entitled to do whatever you want.  But getting a tattoo of a school that you're a fan of is kind of stupid IMO.  I have multiple degrees from UM and I would never get a tattoo of Michigan on my body.  If one of my friends or classmates did, I'd probably make fun of them.

I feel the same about people tattooing their Greek letters and stuff as well.

A tattoo is a permanent reminder of a temporary impulse.

How great a team is, is

How great a team is, is defined on what they do in March.

It was a smart play by the

It was a smart play by the Giants. The time was more important than the yardage at that point.  I'd be surprised if they didn't do it on purpose.

You could even put it on Brady that he should have thrown it away quickly so they didn't lose so much time on the play.

Perhaps, but..

I think your argument is different if you're talking about the Pats or the Giants.  If I'm Eli, I'm feeling a little more confident than Brady would knowing his defense could hold the other team.

The flaw in saying the Pats

The flaw in saying the Pats should have let them score once they got to the 18 is twofold.  1)  A 35 yard field goal is not a gimme (see the Ravens).  There were people at the SB party I was at, that were screaming for the Giants to start taking knees when they hit the 30.  Really?  You want to have Tynes try a 47 yard kick, when you can easily scoop up some more yards, possible get a few first downs to run down the clock as well.  You can't assume they'll make a 35 yard field goal.  If the NYG got within the 13 (and thus it was less than a 30 yard field goal), I think I'd let them score.  2) The biggest flaw in saying, oh the Pats should have let them score is assuming that the Giants try and score.  The Giants could run down to the one and take at the one.  They could then take 3 knees, or a couple knees and then try to score a TD on 3rd down.  Regardless, they'd be little time left on the clock even after they called their TOs.

Your reasoning is full of

Your reasoning is full of flaws.  If you want to coach like Mark Richt, that's fine, but the Giants made the right call. No way you should settle for a 35 yard field goal.  As the Ravens can attest, you can miss it, plus other things can go wrong like a fumbled snap (see Tony Romo), or it could be blocked.  The Giants played it perfectly and Coughlin made the right calls.

Your second guessing of Coughlin is ludicrous.

And just because Belichek instructs his team to let the Giants score, doesn't mean that NYG takes the touchdown.  People have suggested letting them score from the 18.  If I'm Ahmad Bradshaw, I run down and take a knee at the 1.  In fact, if you have any beef yesterday, it could be that Bradshaw didn't take a knee at the 1.  That would be a stronger argument than anything else.

This is the best suggestiion by far.
