How long on mgoblog?

Submitted by shorts on

I'm just curious how long all of us have been regular readers/commenters/posters.

Personally, I became addicted to mgoblog near the end of 2005 (might have been right after the regular season ended, can't remember for sure). It was right about the time when the coaching rumor mill started swirling and everyone was wondering if Ron English would be leaving or if Jim Hermmann would be fired, etc.

I used to post as shorts TCAUP '08, now I'm just plain old shorts. How long have you guys all been regulars, and what got you hooked?

I started reading around the time of the Lloyd retirement announcement.

I became a daily reader with the Tyrelle Pryor business.

I enjoy the recruiting information, the in depth play by play breakdowns, and the writing quality/humor Brian brings.

I started reading mgoblog early in the 2006 season.  Regular reader, irregular commenter/poster.  I got hooked by the in-depth analysis (UFRs!).  I stumbled upon it in the first place looking for shirtless Tebow pics.

I started reading about a year ago.  A college buddy and I were on our way home from Vegas and he was telling me how awesome MGoBlog was, and I told him blogs were garbage.  I checked it out just because I'm a big UM fan, and I when I found out it wasn't garbage afterall, I was totally hooked.  My name is Dustin, and I'm an MGoBlog addict.

AHHHH that feels so good to finally say outloud!

I believe I was searching for information on the injury to Manningham back in 2006 and came across the blog.  A friend of mine had called me with the rumor and I was frantically looking to find any nugget of information.  I've been hooked since.

I used to be just TX Wolverine but due to a glitch in the way I signed up, I'm now ATX Wolverine.

I quit posting for a while this summer, right before the blog transition, primarily due to the increase in "noise" now things are slightly better.  Stumbled upon this site through IBFC!!! so Vijay is responsible for my procrastination at school these past 3 years!!

The first post that i read was the good old "recruiting philosophy"!! Whatever happened to that turd sandwich Emfinger?

I started reading right around the time that Lloyd was expected to announce his retirement. I've been hooked ever since and read every day. Keep up the great work Brian.

But what is really impressive to me is the community explosion that ensued with the new site. Diaries, message boards, I didn't think these would catch on so quickly.

It was around about the middle of the 2006 season, I think -- actually, I think the way I stumbled across MGoBlog was from a link from The House That Rock Built, because it was hosting the MP3 of that huge rant that Valenti on 1270 AM had after MSU lost to Notre Dame (and I probably listened to it at least 100 times).

last week before the MSU / ND game.  I never heard it before and went straight to their website to listen.  Unbelievable Rant!!!  Has to rank up there with all the greats: "practice" , "playoffs", "I'm a man", "This is div. 1 football".

Oh yeah: Fall 2007

I think I read irregularly before that, but 2005 is when I started reading compulsively. I didn't comment regularly until towards the end of the 2007 season though.

since 2005.  I think there were 3 other Michigan blogs then.  Brian has 27 of them linked now, and I'd be willing to bet the success of MGoBlog was an inspiration to probably 20 of those.

I had to look back to see what I could remember...I definitely was here on and off during 2005, but became addicted in 2006.  Loved the UFR, but my favorite has always been the previews (desperate need to win level, etc etc.).  I pretty much checked for UFR and Previews then.  Then came the coaching search, which raised the addiction to an unhealthy level, and the new site design, which has the potential to ruin me.

I started reading this year, during the voting for the banner, just before the switch to the new site. I spend the majority of my downtime at work on this website. In addition to Brian, there are a lot of people who post on this board that really know their shit...I live and work near the Ohio line so if it wasn't for this site, I'd have to listen to a bunch of buckeyes talk about how great they are. So thank you, Brian..

I was all out of crack cocaine and went looking for something equally addicting.

Only posted on Haloscan a couple of times but did read it frequently.  One question: Anyone else wonder what happened to the kid that used to make up those peculiar & baffling stories? (I guess it didn't have to be a "kid"...)

This site has been my homepage since 2005.  I was in law school at UGA and sick of hearing about the Dawgs.  This page was my salvation.

.....I stumbled upon the site during the 2005 season while I was bored one day at my new job......kinda lost sight of the place during the offseason, but in the summer leading up to the 2006 season, I rediscovered the site, became a constant commentator and its been an addiction ever since.

I like Brian's writing, but the various discussions with fellow commentators is what has made it the daily addiction that it is.

Gosh, if UM basketball ever becomes good again, I shudder at how much more time we would all "waste" here.

Sometime between the 2005 and 2006 season. I think I saw on deadspin the story about Cowherd ripping off the Mzone, went to Mzone and saw a link here after a while. Its the first site I open everyday.

Started reading around the early part of 2005 season, and started posting after the Sufjan Stevens "Eleven Swans" Bo Tribute/Pre-2006 OSU game. Best. Post. Ever.

the morning of the App State game.  Didn't have Big Ten network and was looking around mgoblue.com for radio directory. Somehow stumbled in here.

Been a frequent peruser and infrequent poster. My ability to rant and carry-on was hampered severely after Lloyd Carr mercifully drowned himself like a litter of bad kittens.  And my firsthand knowledge of football is limited to what an OLB does in high school to cover the option.

Good to be here, love this site.

 Amen.

I visited for the first time during my Intro to Philosophy class last March.  I was looking for massive info on our wonderful hockey team and i found Yost Built, I think by searching for one of our future recruits that went to school with my younger brother.  I then read all I could on Yost Built, and started checking out the links.  The first time I instantly put it in my bookmarks and checked it pretty much every day since then.  Then, over the summer after the banner voting, I started to check about 10 times a day.

December 2006.  I got hooked on the recruiting posts...I didn't even know UFR existed until a while later.

I'm not really sure.  I know I was reading last fall; if i started before that, I don't think it was too long before that.

And yeah, it's definitely addicting.  But I haven't really gotten into keeping up with all the other new content -- I don't have the patience or attention span to keep up with all the threads and diaries -- so I think my addiction got a bit less severe when the new site came online and the conversation wasn't all in one place anymore.

I might as well join in.

I found this site in the summer of '06.  I started a new job and I had absolutely nothing to do so I concentrated my efforts on learing as much about Michigan Football as possible.  I actually had no idea what a blog was until MGO.  I had heard of them, but they scared me.  MGO changed that.  From then until the site change I only read Brian's posts, I sometimes joined in on the haloscan (as Chris) but it was just such a mess.  Since the format change I try to read EVERYTHING.  Which at times is a practice in insanity.  Wait, no, if you say something is insane then it truly isn't.  Good.

I used to be quite combative. Got a few "Caup, e-mail me..." notes from Brian.  I've been pretty calm and collected lately.

This is easily my favorite spot on the interwebs.

I stumbled upon site looking for some (any) sources of hope. Since that time, I could have learned the skills necessary for a successful career in computers or truck driving in the time I have spent here.

i dont even remember when it was I started reading.  Its actually weird that I cant remember the first post i read.  at first, i was just always confused by what the hell 'unverified voracity' meant until i looked up the word in the dictionary.

I was introduced to the site by an employee of mine about 3 years ago.  I checked the site on and off until the summer of '07, and was checking it daily leading up to the Appalacian State game.

It was in the aftermath of the App. St. game that I became hooked.  After that calamnity, the angst, combined with abundant humor, is what really hooked me on Brian's work and his readership.  I sill think his "surrender" post is his funniest (and is also insightful) ever.

The day after Michigan beat Florida and carried Lloyd out on their shoulders.  Had no idea about blogs.  Started following the off season and couldn't wait for this year.  But boy what an off season to follow.  Now that the season has started it is not as fun as I had hoped.  I want us to win every game and don't like reading the blog after we have lost.

I read Mgoblog about once a week starting in 2005, picking up to several times a day over the past year or so. Never really commented on anything until a few weeks ago.

Lurking just got boring,I guess.
