If I'm not mistaken, it

If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't derive from the Yip actually. The Yip was due to a player on the other team being named Yip, thus when he was handling the puck there were Yips being yelled. This comes, I believe, from an opposing coach who would make that noise during the power play on the breakout to signal a certain breakout from their zone. The students, upon hearing that noise (I want to say against Miami Ohio), proceeded to make it in an obnoxious cheer that is fun to do.

That's just what I think the story is, but I don't know. I can tell you I have had season tickets since 1996, and the cheer started about 3 or 4 years ago, and it is definitly not from the Yip.

There are some ridiculous

There are some ridiculous courses around Ann Arbor, but the Monster course at Hudson Mills is by far the craziest. The Monster hole is the longest hole I have ever heard of (like 1038 feet ). That shit is CRAZY.

And to anyone who has never tried playing disc golf, its easy and awesome. Why pay hundreds for golf clubs and pay for tee times when you can outfit yourself in top of the line discing gear for like 40 bucks (less for not as sweet stuff). Do yourself a favor, try it

I'm sorry, but the preeminent

I'm sorry, but the preeminent dynasty in American sports? They have won 4 out of 11. That isn't a dynasty, especially when two of those came at the very start of that period. They are a good team, but not a dynasty at all.

If you want a dynasty look at the Patriots. What they have done is far more impressive than what the Wings have done.

Dallas didn't actually pick

Dallas didn't actually pick today, so they performed the worst talent acquisition wise

Rhett Bomar is by far the

Rhett Bomar is by far the best Senior QB in the draft. He just isn't getting the MSM media attention because he is from a small school. You may remember him from getting kicked off of Oklahoma a few years ago. He is going to be a 2nd round pick, maybe early 3rd.

They are showing the games

They are showing the games that average fans want to watch. Looking at the marquee and seeing Crosby is better than Blues vs. Wings any day. The league actually is doing it right. Market the stars, bring in the crowds, then move to mass appeal.

Actually, these mock drafts

Actually, these mock drafts are pretty accurate not in specific picks, but in the areas of where people will go. Sure Taylor may not go to the Jags, but McShay feels that he is a fourth round talent, and that the Jags might be looking for a DT in that round. Look at them like a tourney bracket (albeit with over 200 games to pick), not a firm prediction of every pick.

Actually most pro-style

Actually most pro-style offenses would love to have him. He was a big time recruit with NFL size and a cannon arm. Not to mention that it is not hard to offer a kid one of 85 spots on your roster if he meets these criteria. Worst-case scenario for the tea is he transfers in and takes up a scholarship for 2 years (letting him go before his 5th year). It is actually a good situation for them, he can sit for a year and learn the offense and then play for two years.

Its not a bad thing. There

Its not a bad thing. There is a basic rule in the NFL, if you don't have a franchise quarterback you don't pass on a franchise quarterback. If he is smart, he will follow this rule and then use his other first round pick to get a guy to protect his new investment (a stud LT). Combined with Cherilus from last year the O-Line will be better and there will be a competent QB to run the offense.

Minus the safety...

Minus the safety...

Actually what froze Stevie

Actually what froze Stevie Brown on that play was a pump fake towards the outside reciever who was standing there like he was running a bubble screen. Stevie went to cover the pass and Coner took off. It wasn't a great play by any means for Stevie, but he was probably figuring that Cone would not run since he is slow so he covered the more likely option in his mind.

You used to see that stuff in the NFL too when Vick was playing, he would throw a pump fake 5 yards past the line of scrimmage and NFL linebackers would jump to block the pass.

I don't blame Stevie on that one, and if it was someone other than him people would probably just let it go.

Warren was in a cast sitting

Warren was in a cast sitting in a chair according to the radio guys. He was on the sideline though. And for the D-Line, both Martin and Van Bergen didn't play, so that is two starters missing.

We could hold out hope for a Brazilian game. If you have ever watched the World Cup, you know that Brazilian games bring out all of the babes. They are the hottest nation on Earth. Maybe we could get Brazil vs. Sweden. That way you can have your tan brunettes and your glowing blondes.

It may not be all of ELPD,

It may not be all of ELPD, but only a few officers. I know that at my small school, there is one officer who has single-handedly arrested 5 people I know on individual occasions and harassed many more of them. He circles through the college areas, but makes his living circling the big freshman dorm stopping tons of kids. I think some officers can be Steven Segal fans that want to be like their idol, but like Super Unknown said, there can be fine cops as well.

Bummer man. I like the Ann Arbor news. They had a cool sports section and there wasn't much cooler than being mentioned in the Prep Report. I am going to be one who will truly miss them.

Now the question becomes what will happen with that building downtown? Maybe more room for google?

Yes. Once we agree on a contract, which will happen in the next week. Then it becomes official, but at this point it is only a proposed game, as UM hasn't actually officially accepted.

I would like to see ND, or

I would like to see ND, or maybe Minnesota. Potentially BC too, because that would be a matchup of epic proportions. The other team should be in the top 10 consistently, so as to make it a good game.

I would hate to see the Wings

I would hate to see the Wings there for a few reasons.

First, the Michigan part of the game would be overshadowed and it would become an outdoor Wings game with an accompanying Michigan game. I would hate to see the Big House covered in red jerseys.

Second, that would make for a really long ordeal. One game in sub-freezing weather is ok, two games is about 6 hours outside in the freezing cold.

Third, some of the Wings fans will only go to their team's game, so if we play first there will not be a full crowd for a while, maybe into the third period. That would suck because our boys deserve to play in front of the full 108,000. And if it is second, there will be early leavers.

Fourth, I just hate the Wings and seeing their fans try to look like they know about Michigan hockey to their even dumber Wings fan friend "Hagelin is from Finland. He is really good, but not as big as I would like to see." I never want to hear one of those fake-hockey-loving fuckers talk about MY team. We have enough fans thank you, I don't need posers from the suburbs of Detroit

Fifth, I don't trust non-college hockey fans to appreciate our team. They may go "Oh Michigan is good, but its not NHL hockey" which is true, but that is only because college hockey is better and more pure than that NHL drivel.

Finally, not really a point but I would tailgate for this thing all day. We need to make this an event that lasts a day, not just the 3 hours in the Big House.

As someone who cleaned the

As someone who cleaned the stadium in High School, I can say that those papers were the devil. I don't care how much info was in them, they got left behind by everyone and then the morning dew would turn them into a god damn layer of wet paper that had to be raked up. You have never been truly frustrated until you spend your Sunday morning (like 8) raking wet newspapers off of concrete.

I think Miller's biggest

I think Miller's biggest impact will not be him telling kids how awesome it is at Michigan, since that is what they get at every school, but in that he can befriend the kids. I think these kids are the same as normal high school seniors, and it would comfort them to know that at Michigan, they already have a buddy there who is really excited to go there.

The Shegos chant goes WAY

The Shegos chant goes WAY back. I remember it being common in my first full season in Yost, the 1996 season. Back then I always thought Shegos did a very good job (I think there was only the one at this point, but I was young). I also thought that there were 3 Shegosi. One who was the father and his two sons. The father worked until like '99 or so and then his sons have worked since, with some overlap.

I do distinctly remember watching a MSU-Michigan game where there was a line brawl. I don't know what year it was but I remember that you could hear the play on the ice and Shegos was talkinig to Turco telling him not to cross center ice ("Get back Marty" "Its not worth it Marty" "Dont do it Marty"). I dont know what this really has to do with anything, but I just thought it was relevent.

I don't think its at a level where we can complain. He is a Sophomore and is 10th in the Big Ten. Sure it could be better, but he fills the stat sheet in other areas to make up for it. Rebounds, steals, points, assists. He does it all

Agreed. I think that this is actually a BIG source of the hate going on. While all of these things are all good to do, it does not require peopole to mention it like 12 times in a thread where it doesn't. It may be easier just to ignore posts that don't meet your standards, as opposed to bitching about them.

Not trying to piss you off though.

What? That OSU game from 2006

What? That OSU game from 2006 was 39-42. That was not a defensive struggle. That game was two true heavyweights slugging it out, and the offenses took control that game. Had we played at home that year wee would have won. But don't blame that on the coaching, because that was just how the cards played out in that game. I can't think of any moment during it where I thought that a different call would have changed things considerably. If anything, Crable's hit on Troy Smith hurt us the most, as it kept their scoring drive alive.

Dude, was this worth a new post?

And that isn't the only reason as everyone tried to tell you in the last post. Think about it. The city has street lights and adding lights is not really that expensive if there needed to be more. A more accurate reason that "public safety" might be a concern is that a night game entails an entire DAY of pregaming, which would lead to sloshed students everywhere.

Also dude, if you are going to quote something, source it. I can say random shit in quotes too.

And BTW, you have very quickly put yourself into the unenviable role of most hated poster. Stop rubbing people the wrong way. And keep in mind man, your opinion is only an opinion, not a fact.

From the looks of things we don't need moderators. We already have crusaders who rule this board with an iron fist, repramanding everyone who does something that they think is "against the rules".

And the best part is that when one complains, there are like 5 crusaders that complain about the same thing.

Dude, imagine for a second

Dude, imagine for a second that you are attending a small college. You are on the basketball team there, but that doesn't mean much. You aren't revered like Manny Harris or even David Lee. You are just another face in the crowd. But your Junior year, your team is not bad. Sure you get beat by people, but in conference you actually do pretty well. You make a miraculous run through your conference tourney. All of a sudden, you are on the biggest stage of your life, playing UConn in the 1st round, against future NBA players. This is a dream come true for thier families too, as it proves to them that all of the driving and supporting that they did over the years finally paid off.

This is a very shallow examination of how the tourney changes LIVES. When you see a mother or father crying while watching thier son take the court in March (and you can bet that Dad has told all of his friends) you walk up to them and tell them that htere is no chance of a win, and that the team should have a bye rather than play on national tv.

While the games may seem one-sided, there will be a team that wins as a 16 seed. And when they do, you will look like quite the ass Distik.
