FWIW: Tressel seen with UCLA AD..
It's only a rumor on yardbarker, but the vest has been spotted in LA hanging with Guerrero the UCLA AD. Good time to open up a TAT parlor in LA.

It's not going to happen, the UCLA Chancellor doesn't give two shits about sports but he will care if a hire like Tressel was made. FWIW Bruins Nation is pretty convinced that Jim More Jr. is going to get the job and to sum up their feelings on the matter....They aren't happy.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:49 PM ^
I have heard of Jim Mora Jr though.
"BCS playoffs? BCS playoffs?"
December 6th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
Wasn't that Jim Mora Sr.?
December 6th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
Like father, like son at the college level.
December 6th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
Playoffs?
December 6th, 2011 at 7:32 PM ^
"Who said anything about playoffs?"
December 6th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Did you know that Jim Mora, Jr. really is NOT a Jr?
December 7th, 2011 at 8:41 AM ^
Srsly, what? I am a "Jr." and it kinda bugs me when the sufix is mis-used. You know, just a little. Did people just put Jr. on to distinguish?
December 7th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Just to distingish from his dad.
But he's not an actual Jr. You have license to be offended.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
No one in the UCLA administration is going to sanction a move that has even a whiff of academic sacrifice or ethical compromise.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:25 PM ^
Used car dealership wouldn't be a bad investment, either.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
What about fundraising events?
December 6th, 2011 at 6:27 PM ^
I think we'll be seeing a lot of these. NCAA issues aside, Tressel was a guy who made the jump from D-II to a top D-I program without much difficulty. He's the kind of guy you'd interview to ask about your candidates. Get his feelings for who looks like they could do what he did. If I was an AD and hiring I'd definitely at least call him to chat or fly him out for a round of golf and a few beers. You get other takes as well of course.

Tressel drinks wine coolers.
December 6th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
Free rounds of golf? Count me in!
Sincerely,
TP

I can tell you that a friend of mine saw tressel meeting with arizona's AD in Tucson a month ago. Obviously he didn't end up with that job, and was not a candidate. But if you're doing a coaching search, might as well get an outside opinion on how you are viewed, etc.
December 6th, 2011 at 7:03 PM ^
Interesting...so he advises Arizona to hire RR and then is seen with the AD of UCLA. If I were a conspiracy theorist...
December 6th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
I can already picture him rockin' a baby blue sweatervest.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
That actually looks pretty damn good. The blue vest styles way better than the red one.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
You shut your dirty mouth.
December 6th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
December 6th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
I think he's out there to consult on the UCLA opening.
Vest would bring the ice water UCLA recent hires have been missing sine Donahue left the sidelines. WIth cheatin pete gone,a good hire could make the difference for UCLA.
December 6th, 2011 at 9:44 PM ^
I hope they get this hire right. One problem they will likely run into is a lack of funds to hire decent coordinators with. Michigan football blows away UCLA but I do miss tailgaiting on the golfcourse in November...wearing shorts.
December 6th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
Isn't UCLA currently undergoing a fundraising campaign for their program?
December 7th, 2011 at 8:43 AM ^
But I'm back in A2 now so I have no idea. I'll hit up some friends out there to find out. When I asked who was on their short list for coach the answer I received was "anyone." It seems their tired of mediocrity and getting mopped up by USC. Sadly, I don't see much changing anytime soon besides the name on the coach' office door. Hopefully I'm wrong since USC is the west coast version of Ohio.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
Tressel will not be getting any job until the NCAA thing is settled and not until progams know if a show-cause penalty will be levied on him. Which it most likely will.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
He'll soon be on the Bruce Pearl-Kelvin Sampson plan. They'll all next be getting NCAA jobs about the same time, which isn't any time soon.
December 6th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
Why? UCLA hired Neuheisel, didn't they?
December 6th, 2011 at 6:31 PM ^
I expected a SportsPickle link.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
The tattoo parlor selection in the Los Angeles area is phenomenal, albeit pricey. Tressel may simply be looking to expand his franchise.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
To beat a bunch of cheaters you have to hire a .........
December 6th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
Brady Hoke.
If that's not the answer it should be.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
but I don't think anyone will entertain the thought of hiring him as a head coach until all the dust settles.
December 6th, 2011 at 6:53 PM ^
They hired Rick Neuheisel, so I wouldn't be suprised.
December 6th, 2011 at 7:32 PM ^
Rick needs coached up by Hoke.
December 6th, 2011 at 7:05 PM ^
after Muschamp is fired. Bank it.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
Only if Bollman and Weis are co-offensive coordinators.
December 6th, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
"WalrusBall And The Walrus", I think this act could tour well.
December 6th, 2011 at 10:09 PM ^
as well, as he looks good in shorts and has a rapport with Bollman:
December 7th, 2011 at 3:07 AM ^
seriously, that's funny
December 6th, 2011 at 8:00 PM ^
Tressel is pitching a reality TV show on the Pac-12 network to UCLA. "LA Ink"
Wait, hasn't that been done?
December 6th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
December 6th, 2011 at 9:40 PM ^
(albeit a pretty distant second)
I shudder at even the thought of vest ending up there. Jim Moron Jr looks like a coup compared to that wanker. The clueless AD 'Chianti' Dan Guerrero would be so sycophantically all over Tress...doubt he even knows he's 'retired'...
Yes, he can coach, but...
December 6th, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
great fit.
December 7th, 2011 at 9:47 AM ^
Wow, weasle to UCLA? He will give that snake at oregon some competition in the recruiting wars. UCLA might get some of the gansters from Calif that now go to oregon.
