It was all downhill after Ringo (sorry George). |
| 3 days 12 hours ago | they may recruit nationally |
but MSU recruits from Ohio may never have a game in their home state, compared to guaranteed games in the ol' state every other year for Michigan recruits. And just last Saturday, saw a little kid proudly wearing his UTL #16 jersey at a restaurant here in Ohio...

| 1 week 1 day ago | So, basically, |
the AD's don't care about the fans in the stands. That's the cold, hard reality. It's a media event, a vacation event, an money grab for the gold blazers, a road trip for team/cheerleaders/band/hangerson. Not sure if 2 empty stadiums for the semi's in 6 years will even convince them to change to home fields. Unless people stop tuning in to watch it. |

Purdue was behind until 1999 and finally pulled ahead in 2010. National championships for the Maroons in Football in 1905 and 1913 (National Championship Foundation and Parke H. Davis, a retroactively awarded championship), plus 1938 Men's Gymnastics. And who helped Parke H. Davis win his own retroactively awarded championship by transferring to play for him for only one crucial game? Answer at the link. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | So today's top 3 |
is Hart, Martin, Molk. But I'll probably come back to this thread in a day or two, or by the time the voting happens, and I'll think up a different group of 3 as there are so many good choices. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | It's all because an SUV was ahead of |
me with a USC alumni license plate holder yesterday at the grocery store. I should've gotten my Michigan license plate holder-ed car ahead of her and all would have been right in the world. Good luck, Ty. Still don't like USC and their stupid song they play over and over (bad Rose Bowl memories). |
| 1 week 2 days ago | technically, he's entering his |
3rd year of starting at QB (Denard started one game as a freshman, but it was as a running back). He played in all 12 games, but wasn't the starting or even primary QB in any of them. Maybe not enough to break the parallel universe, but I'll try. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | So the Leaders aren't, and the |
Legends are not leaving one with this wimpy resolution. Put the playoffs in the higher ranking teams' stadiums, and leave the bowls for consolation prizes for those not in the playoffs. *That* preserves the bowls for what they are - primarily advertisements for the sponsors and hometowns of the bowls. And, if the B1G and Pac12 winners are not in the top 4 teams, then the Rose Bowl remains what it is, the meeting of the champions of those two conferences. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | To add supporting data |
although it might have been mid-football season when I compiled these numbers: Football: Men's Basketball: So I think the message is that the NCAA has no pattern to playoff rules for # of AQ's vs at-large bids (from this sample at least), unless there is some written or unwritten rule that I haven't found yet in googling for it.
