Taking in a high school football game tonight, hopefully not punching out my bandwagon-jumping Sparty cousin at my Dad's party tomorrow, and trying to still be kind of sober for the Halloween party my girlfriend and I have after that. Items 2 and 3 are gonna be tough.

GO BLUE! BEAT STATE!

Yeah, it's hard. I can remind my other Sparty friends that I was always pretty cool about this game back when Michigan owned MSU, but it's difficult to do that with someone who started watching in 2012 and apparently applies retroactive fandom back to 2008 and not a minute before. "Yeah! Five out of six! Gonna be six out of seven this year!"

Yeah? So you remember 2008, or hell, 2011, pretty well do ya, fuckface?

Best part of your reply, by the way, is I can hear it spoken in Walter Sobchak's voice. Thanks!

It's Tailgate Day at my office! I must say, I outdid myself this year with the decorations. My office looks fantastic, and I made a delicious cinnamon-swirl pumpkin bread using my block M cake pan. It's going to be a great Friday! And tomorrow we are trekking to E. Lansing for the game. Go Blue!

I've an embarrassing admission: I can't recall the last game I had a chance to watch in this rivalry. I guess it was the Gholston helmet twist game. For a long string of games, like most of the past decade, circumstances have had me far from a tv or even cell service on the day of the M-Staee game. Maybe this has all been my fault. I promise to be glued to the tube tomorrow. GO BLUE!

I know the feeling, I was there once! Whether it was deployment, training exercise, or just drill weekend after I went to the reserves, I was in military uniform for some kind of duty or another on the date of EVERY Michigan-MSU game from 2001 to 2007. That's the Clockgate game and the entirety of the six-game win streak. I did get to watch some of the game most of those years, but I wasn't able to really enjoy it the way a person who has the weekend completely to themselves gets to. Glad I could, starting in 2008...just in time for State to start kicking ass...ugh.

Happy Friday! Having the day off work is nice. Judging by the light traffic into metro Detroit this morning, lots of folks will be having a nice day as well.

Half day of work today. Tomorrow, I'm catching the game with another alum for the first time in years. On top of that, it's supposed to be 90 down here, he's got a pool and a TV in the cabana. Nothing bad can come of this, right? Beer, pool, the game . . .

Hopefully Blue shuts those Spartans up.

Maybe tomorrow is the date that 10 years from now people will look back at as the day that Brady Hoke and the Wolverines turned things around to become one of the most successful teams of the past decade.

Just found out that because of a production scheduling issue, I'll end up being at work until about midnight tonight helping with a new product and process.

I will do my best to keep channeling my hate across the lake toward East Lansing.

I have a day full of client meetings, my partner left for Tokyo for the next week, and I got a call that the City I am putting an event on tonight requires additional insurance despite the Council telling me otherwise.

At least I get to look forward to football...

tomorrow I will be on the sidelines as Eastern Michigan takes on those folks from Northern Illinois.  I hope to see my Eagles/Hurons victorious.  It's a home game, so I should be able to catch most of Sparty getting theirs.

And remember this, 70 years ago tomorrow, a group of destroyers, destroyer escorts and escort carriers weren't given a chance as they faced some of the baddest ships the Japanese had to offer.  They took a beating but they put up enough of a fight that the Japanse withdrew...
