Friday POSBANG - Shootin' Blanks Edition

Bye week.

Time to spend the weekend working on that honey-do list, or taking the kids somewhere they've been asking.

Time to go to that wedding for that someone considerate who scheduled it during the bye week.

Time to go ahead and get that vasectomy done and spend the weekend sitting on a bag of frozen peas. No more questions, thank you.

Good Lord, I hate bye week. Good luck to you all making the most of it though.

When my daughter announced her engagement a few years ago and said she wanted an outdoor fall wedding we did a schedule search and they were married on a beautiful fall bye week.

My oldest daughter did the same a half-dozen years ago.  She wanted an autumn wedding because of the opportunity to take advantage of the fall colors, so from the very start of planning she targeted Michigan's bye week that October.

I never needed to bring it up even once; she was raised on Michigan Football and her proper upbringing paid off.

12 years for me...convalesced the first weekend of March Madness. And this bye week is actually mildly entertaining. Sparty fans I know are stewing in negativity. It's beautiful!

vasectomy? children are a blessing from the Lord. like arrows in the hand of the mighty warrior, so are the children of one's youth.  happy is the man whose quiver is full, he shall not be afraid, but shall speak with the enemy at the gate.  Ps 127

still lots of football to be had this weekend.  in michigan its the last week of the regular high school season.  playoff selection show is sunday and the playoffs start next weekend.  one of the sons in college is playing football tomorrow.  we will be traveling late tonight and all day tomorrow for games for the sons.  it is an uber-busy time, but when it's over it will be missed.

oh yeah, cattle 'harvesting' at sunrise today.  then work.  then football for 2 days.

children are a blessing from the Lord

Even pre-teens and teens?!

Being an Uncle and helping out with kids at church but with no kids of my own, I agree, but I'm also happy to not have any. I can enjoy hanging out with them, then sending them back to their parents and enjoy the quit life

Enjoy the weekend, XM

our 5 youngest children are teenagers and though they are definitely not perfect, on a day-in and day-out basis they are a pleasure to be around.  i am very grateful for them and look forward to what the future might hold for them.

and yeah, i was 'uncle XM' when i was younger and my siblings started having kids.  but even back then i had always hoped to be blessed with my own.

Man, to have grandparents take your young child for an entire weekend is a blessing right there.  I have in-laws that live 0.4 miles away from us and the longest they've ever watched our 5 year old is for like 3 hours, tops.  Then they needed a 3-day break after that.  And they're about mid-60's so age isn't a factor.  And their health isn't perfect but it's good enough.  Just better things to do, I guess.  Sense my grumbling?  Can I get a bang for my grumbling?

But I am NOT complaining.  I am thankful that they are still around and able to help even the (small) amount that they do.  Grumbling...not complaining.

Amen to this. After two kids, my husband did the deed, at age 40-something. I couldn't love my children more, they are the lights of my life, and I've spent the past 22 years with my focus squarely on them. Two was the perfect number for us, along with a dog and two cats.

I need to put my hard top back on  my Jeep and a few other small things before winter. Probably should do some stuff around the house too. Fall sports for my middle school kids is finally starting to wrap up so that will be nice to have some free time back before winter stuff starts. Go Blue!!
