We're flying back to michigan next week to visit my family (in the thumb). My Dad has been sending pictures of flooded fields and roads everywhere.  Sounds like a crummy spring there  so far.  We were hoping to go to a tigers game while we were there.  I miss sitting in the warm sun with a beer and watching a lazy 9 innings..

Let me first say that I have a lot of sympathy for kids in terrible circumstances like that. I've volunteered at orphanages in third-world areas in 2 different countries (I don't think Honduras and Mexico are technically third-world countries, but the areas I was in definitely were), so I've even gone beyond just sympathy and done something to help out.

That aside, I'm not trying to make light of the kids' circumstances. I just got a hearty laugh imagining those kids being so happy to see food we consider super basic. If anything, it's sobering because we could see a scenario like this actually being true.

On Saturday, the kids have a party - their own, this time. We're hosting a small gathering for their school friends at Pump It Up in Taylor. After that, we're taking them to Build-A-Bear at Twelve Oaks for a toy of their choosing. After we get home, I plan to burn my MasterCard.

On Sunday, it's yard work and beer mainly. Because I live near woods and therefore leaves - dead  or alive - fall throughout the year, I have to rake out several flower beds. I do plan to start with mainly yardwork and make the gradual shift to beer as the afternoon wears on.

I believe it is customary and necessary to always have beer while doing any yardwork.

The weather appears to be nice, at least through tomorrow.  Possibly some golf in the near future.  I also have a potroast simmering at home today, so add some hearty sides to that tonight with a solid beer to wash it down and enjoy the evening.  Spring is just about damn here in Michigan, which also means the campus is starting to display the seasonal "scenary"

it's beautiful out, I'm still laughing my butt off about Michael Shannon's dramatic reading of the sorority letter.

Then, all of that is tempered by having to have a great dog, a truly great dog, euthanized at 2 pm.

Going outside to dig a hole right now.  Sucks on so many levels.

Sorry to hear about your dog =-(  anyone who's done it knows how hard it is, but you're saving them from everyday pain. I truly am sorry and hope everything else this weekend turns out great for you.

Until I see 'her' typing in 'her' own password and posting on MGOBLOG I will assume 'she' is a man.

this one time I assumed a person was a woman, well a girl at least, then i showed up at this shopping mall only to be assaulted by the police.   Horrible day.

Sunny. 70's. Beer in the frig to be consumed conspicuously all weekend starting in just 3 hours, and lots of grilling of dead things.

NFL Draft to boot. I'm all set...

I'll be checking out the cherry blossom festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with the family this weekend, with various little league activities before and after.

Studying for finals. Fortunately, only have two.

Also, watching the NFL Draft and waiting to see who is lucky enough to grab Denard / seeing who my Eagles take for the new Chip Kelly era. Could those two events happen at the same time? One can dream....

This weekend?  I'll be thinking of Moe Ways puns.  Natch.

Well, that and hoping that a party (100 guests +/-) we're hosting tomorrow doesn't get rained out.  If it does rain, imma be swimming in beer for a month.
