Former @umichfootball players are planning a weekend of support for the current players starting tomorrow by going to practice.

Former @umichfootball players told me that the "current players need to know we are here for them even if nobody else is."

Yeah, ok Desmond.

Well I think it is good, I said a year ago Brady hoke was a stop gap coach, he came in, somewhat repaired the former players image, brought them together, emphasized them, made them feel like part of the program. Now it's time to hand things off to a better coaching staff, guys who can teach them, actually make them better.

This will make absolutely no difference to what happens in the game, the rest of the season, or the Michigan Football program going forward (unless Desmond wants to stand on the sideline and count to 11 on every play)

Call me crazy but is this the same Desmond that basically called out the entire team a few weeks back on gameday? Saying he didn't see any of them puttin in the effort to be "great" with the exception of Peppers. I love ya Desmond... but COME ON MAN!

The team is too dam soft! Maybe those former players can get into Hokes ear about babying these fucking supposedly 5 stars and top ten recruiting classes! Really 2-3! You gotta be fucking kidding me! With the nations top players!?!?

the Michigan Team.  100% in favor of supporting the players.  Even 100% in favor of supporting Coach Hoke as he does everything within his capabilities to help this team win some games.

But Brandon?  100% in support of doing my part to have him dumped. Fired. Sent packing. Dropped.  Forced out.  Gone.  And Saturday, as I have planned all week, I will be sticking to my pledge to walk out prior to kickoff.

Sure, I know my actions Saturday will be a tiny drop in a very big bucket towards DB's departure, but it must be done.  I've already fired off letters  to President Schlissel and a couple of the Regents and I plan on sending more, but my personal choice of action Saturday is exactly that: my choice.  It's either that, or I sit on my hands, sit on my ass, and do nothing---and then Brandon definitely wins that 'skirmish' because of my apathy.

It's always been about that.  It's going to look disjointed and a little weird; honestly, it'll probably come across as too much pre-partying.  And I absolutely believe that if UM wins most of these fans will still cheer and just say they are cheering for the players and not the AD.  Which is fine, but shows how strange this whole "movement" is.

That won't necessarily mean it won't work, though. Schlissel might still get the message even if it lacks elegance. And it's bound to be somewhat weird when the protestors want to simultaneously support the players and speak out against Brandon...Does Schlissel need more of the message at this point? I'm not sure, but that's separate from problem (or lack of it) of the likely imperfection of the protest.

Nice to see they're getting support, but I'm honestly not sure it'll make a difference. This entire team is a mess, and I don't see one game left on the schedule that I'd say with any confidence that we could win.

I don't even know that we could beat Purdue or Illinois. That's how low I think the situation is right now.

For all of the points and counterpoints about "should we or should we not" boycott some or all of the game to protest Brandon, unless I'm missing something, it's the only proposal on the table.

I've read many comments suggesting that there are "other ways" of showing our displeasure with Dave Brandon.

And those would be exactly ... what?

For the record, I will be in the stands on Saturday night, at kick off, with my daughter. So if there is some other way to show the Administration that it's time to kick Dave Brandon to the curb, I'm all ears.

There are other ways - send emails, make calls, etc.  And while I think it empowers people to think that a half-empty stadium drives the point home that they don't like Brandon and Hoke, 2-4 is a pretty load message as well.

This whole boycott stuff is fine; let people do it if they want.  But I find it increasingly funny that these same people seem annoyed that not everyone agrees with it, including current and former players.  You are entitled to your opinion and decision not to attend, but the people who are playing the game that day can take issue with that and both of your can be "right" if that matters.

This is it. I've said that I understand the urge to boycott, but that doesn't mean that anyone who has ever been inside of Schembechler Hall will agree with it. Those guys are trying to win games. The former players think their support will help the team win.

The fans have put getting Dave Brandon out ahead of winning games. In fact, winning games hurts their cause. So why is anyone surprised that the two sides disagree?

Fire Brandon shirts, Fire Brandon signs, Fire Brandon chants, rallies on the diag and at the president's house, emails to regents, emails to the president, petitions, phonecalls, letters.

But I guess that's not enough?

I still don't see the utiity of a boycott at this point...it only has the opportunity to backlash. It

But all that matters are wins. And I've just read 3 and Out and it seems clear that the institutional support for RR was 0 to negative while Hoke, and this team gets all kinds of "support". Nothing new to most of you but that book was eye opening for me

I love the facct that former players are banding together and showing support. There is nothing more important than supporting the team through any crisis. Only thing i question is where was this support when RR was the HC? Obviously these players like Hoke. He is still a good man and people want to play for him. However it has become increasingly obvious that at least on a big stage program, he cannot coach. These players have to realize at the end of the day yes the wins and loses is what counts. He gets paid 4 million dollars a year to coach not to clap and be a good role model.

your displeasure with the AD and the state of the program than a boycott or not being in your seat at some pre-determined point.

WHAT DO YOU GENIUSES SUGGEST???   You all keep saying there are better ways, and I heard Sam Webb say the same thing this morning, but no one that utters that phrase has metioned one decent idea.

Protests in the Diag, a march on the President's house or a petition doesn't mean shit.  If we want Brandon gone there are two ways to do it.

1.  Hurt the AD's wallet = don't go, don't buy tickets, don't buy anything.

2.  Make a civil public display that the national media will notice and report and EVERYONE will see on TV = alot of empty seats in the biggest stadium in the country.

No. 2 will embarrass the Administration and the University to make them take notice that the fanbase is serious about a change in direction.   A lot of empty seats that shows up on TV will be a lasting image that ther Regents and the Pres won't forget.  Barring a miraculous turnaround, Hoke is done anyway.

Getting rid of Brandon so a new AD can come in and get a real top tier head coach is going to take more than a poor record.  If a significant number of students are not in their seats at kickoff but come in during the first quarter and the stadium is as full as it was going to be from the middle of th1st onward, there is no harm to the players, but the point will be made.

I gave up my season tickets because I am so sick of this AD and their marketing crap.  I gave up on Hoke in the fourth quarter of the ND game when he refused to kick a field goal to preserve the shotout streak.  Hoke has done nothing since to convince me I am wrong.  He's in over his head and has to go, regardless of how the players feel about him.

The key to change in this situation is Brandon has to go and soon.  No coach worth a crap will come here as long as his arrogant ass in in charge.
