Can we please stop calling them little brother?

Seriously while we own the long term rivalry they've kicked our ass for four years.

We need to act like we've been there before and stop with this whole little brother bs.

While MSU has taken advantage of the RR debacle, which continues to resonate with the personnel this year, fact remains that MSU is an inferior football program and thus remains Little Brother. Meaning, while UM's been on a four year bender, UM still has a far higher upside than MSU.

MSU can only jump so high (rankings/recruiting), just like you'd expect from a little brother. Sniff a top 5 ranking, beat Wisconsin, win the Big 10 outright this year, and we can talk. Other programs have enjoyed win streaks against us recently, so it's not like MSU has relatively risen. They have just enjoyed the spoils of our four year bender. Good for them.

This loss, and 4 in a row, sting no doubt, but with Brandon, Hoke, Borges, Mattison, and the recruiting headway, in a year or two big brother's gonna get back to holding the ball over little brother's head, where only big brother can reach, and big brother's going to get back to national top 5 relevance, again, where little brother can't reach.

And winning and losing the right fucking way you'd stop with this little brother bs.
They just kicked our ass for the fourth year in a row and we on this site still call them little brother? You're no better than them and while their thuggish behavior isn't cool we have no right at all to say anything to them about us versus them in football and that won't change until we beat them.

Learn some respect and act like you've been there before because clearly they haven't but we have.

is just as bad as trying to snap someone's neck, punching someone in the face, and hitting people late all day? Please. Get real. You know why they're little brother? They're little brother because we own them. They are our bitches. We own them academically, socially, and athletically. Look up the all time record and then ask who's little brother. That's not a question, that's an order. Look it up. You're just some Sparty homer coming on here to troll. We don't want you or your STD-ridden co-eds.

I know that you like to start rants and stir up controversy, but you do understand the nature of a rivalry, right? Because talking smack about the other fanbases is part of the deal.

And fine, let's stop with the little brother names if they stop with Walmart Wolverines. And how about UM fans and alums just point out the school's superior academic reputation, more illustrious alumni, more iconic campus, etc? Those aren't changing any time soon.

I actually like "Walmart Wolverines". It honors us. It says that we are such a compelling program that people who do not have an automatic connection to the University still want to be part of it.

I live on the East Coast. I see lots of Michigan attire on fans of all stripes. I don't ever see anything about Michigan State. Nothing. Michigan State is not even a regional program. It's a few counties in the State of Michigan.

I was thinking more like creepy, mentally imbalanced uncle. Yeah, a creepy uncle that got buff because while he was in prison all he did was work out. Now that hs is out, he always wears a mesh tank top to make sure that people can see his muscles. While he thinks that everybody is checking him out for being so buff, they really are just marveling at how creepy he is. Yeah, that guy.

the whole little brother thing is lame imo, a sign of disrespcet imo. I think it should die with "michigan man". Btw is it me, or is everyone in Troy a fucking sparty fan now? or everyone in Michigan is now a lions fan. So sick of bandwagoners. Especially with the lions, ruin for us fans who stuck by them when they were shit.

The Lions are a special circumstance. There is no such thing as bandwagoners with the Lions. They had so much support before, and then it slowly dropped off as they became awful. Even when they were bad, they still had a ton of support in Detroit. There is a video of the fans throwing the Fire Millen sign all over ford field to keep it away from the security (WTF NO FIRST AMENDMENT IN FORD FIELD??!!) all while Millen sits up top watching. That's still support. They are good now, so some fans that lost touch came back, and some new ones came too. No big deal.

The First Amendment is not about the right of anyone to say anything at any time. It only protects you against STATE interference with the right to speak. There is no such thing as a "First Amendment" claim in private situations.

Ford Field security is not a state actor, so they can tape your mouth shut, require you to pray to Zeus, or kick you out for wearing a red shirt, and none of what they did will violate the First Amendment. It's like if you cam into my house and said something I didn't like. I can kick you out, and the Constitution has nothing to do with it.

The thing about the Lions is that the support was there, and then as Millen worked his magic people don't want to drop 70 bucks on a game or a couple Hundred bucks to watch a team that's going nowhere.

Yes there are bandwagoners, but for the most part the Lions fans have just not wasted their money on a losing product, and will now due to our success

It's kind of like when someone has bad acne all over their face. You wouldn't make fun of them about it, but the fact of the matter is you can see it, and they know it's there. You don't have to say anything to them and it's like they already know what you are thinking.

I'm pretty sure that NAILS it. =)

If Dantonio and their fans had not taken it so seriously and just ignored it, we all would have a good laugh when Mike Hart said it four years ago, and by now it would have mostly been forgotten. But when your coach brings attention to it, it is like he is owning the moniker, and from there it took on a life of its own. It wasn't very hard for the fan base to own it because in a way, they have always felt that way. I know enough Sparties and their attitudes speak volumes. They know UM has always been better both academically and athletically (and not just football, but the overall collection of sports at each school). That is the main reason that they have taken on the "little brother" name so perfectly and the best part is that they do not not even realize it.

Endorse this comment. The whole problem was Dantonio acting like that was the worst thing ever said about his program in the history of the universe, and making everyone in EL dwell on it for the last 4 years. Hoke kicked his ass in recruiting for next year and MSU will go 2-4 the rest of the way just like always, and act like that's a satisfying season. Little brother they shall remain for all eternity. Keep the saying.

I have nothing but contempt for Dantonio, Narduzzi, Gholston, Rush, and the rest of that disgusting crew of thugs but until we can beat them consistently again calling them little brother makes us look ridiculous. We should stick to calling them punks, assholes, criminals, and thugs.

Let's mention that the first 3 of those 4 years was the worst 3 years in the 130 YEAR HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM!!!!!!! They have not passed us, we fell beneath them. Big brother sprained his ankle playing ball in the driveway and has been slowed down as a result, little brother didn't just all of a sudden get better.

When big brothers ankle is back to 100% we'll see the family dynamics return to normal.

PS: I'm sorry for the overextended metaphor.

Let's stop calling them little brother. I mean, after today, I wouldn't want Michigan to be considered in the same family as that classless team.

If Mike Hart wants us to call them little brother, then we will call them little brother. I can't wait till he's our head coach and officially changes their name to "Little Brother", just like what Hoke did with "Ohio".
