Brad Labadie resigns
Just saw in the Detroit news, Brad Labadie is resigning.

I better get my resume together. I had a professor who once told me, "Engineers get hired for all kinds of positions outside the realm of their degree." Time to see if he's right!
"Excuse me sir, but your resume only has IT type jobs listed. How does that qualify you for this position?"
"Well, I responded to requests all the time, so I could probably, you know, get forms filled out and stuff when I'm asked to do that."
"It says here you have 15,909+ mgopoints, is this true?"
"Why yes, yes it is"
"You're hired"
Congrats!
"Did you get them by knowing anything about football or compliance?"
"I'd prefer you not ask me that question. The important thing is that I have them."
"Alright, sounds good! Sign here. And here. Initial here..."
Or you could say,
"well I've racked up 15915 points on MgoBlog, how many do you have? That's what I thought". "shal I take your office, or are you going to build me a new one?"
it has to have a $50,000 bathroom.
May the house cleaning begin. Next up....Draper?
if Draper wasn't next. The writing is on the wall.
screw up! The best contribution to UM football by Draper should have been a block when he was on the field at the end of the Alamo Bowl vs. Nebraska. That idiot couldn't even do that. What an asshole!
The timing on this is..."convenient" to say the least. Question: was Labadie a holdover from the Carr era?
I think both he and draper were.
this was totally voluntary and in no way was he pushed into it.
No doubt. Who gives up that salary? Wasn't he making six figures while not responding to Admissions?
If any readers out there are competent workers, you might as well take a shot. That trait alone would be an improvement at the position.
This tight labor market is really highlighting my weaknesses.
Interesting to see. Seems like a thankless job, but apparentlyone you could screw around at.
that the door hits him a few times on the way out.
singing "Hallelujah!"
Must be someone had the "Coming to Jesus" talk with him. Or he just got the hint that he was no longer needed. Either way, this is a win for both the University and RR.
on how to apply?
Everyone fill out your MGoApplications!
Great, now he's going to BCBS to screw up everything with people's insurance. How does he keep getting work?
I already changed my coverage.
As if our Health Insurance companies didn't have enough incompetence and people who don't respond to questions already?
Am I a huge consiracy theorist because I was surprised to see this announcement and Lloyd's so close together? If so, please just say yes...
When I saw the Lloyd stuff I didn't think twice, he has done enough to earn his retirement whenever he wanted to take it. When Labadie is shown the door on basically the same day, it certainly has to at least raise some sort of red flag...It may be and probably is a coincedence, but you have to at least think there may be some more underneath all this...You almost get the feeling that much like Malone and Sheridan chose of their own free will to hit the NFL, Labadie was told to quietly find something else to do so the athletic department could make it sound like a mutual parting of the ways.

The Labadie resignation may have come because of the Carr resignation, but I don't see how Brandon could have possibly decided to force Carr out. That would be one of the dumbest things he could do. However, once Carr announced he was leaving, it was probably much easier to get Labadie to leave.
I don't really agree with this. It isn't like Labadie heard Lloyd was leaving yesterday and thought, "Hey, I need a new job" and then went and found it a day later. I think that Brandon probably said the writing was on the wall and they may have had an understanding that he should be looking for new employment, but he had a job until he found a new one. Just a thought.
Brandon told him he was done. And this had nothing to do with wanting to spend more time with his family. That is standard diplomatic language used all the time when someone is pushed out of an organization.
This also has absolutely nothing to do with Carr and would have happened whether Carr left or not. The amazing thing is that it took this long. I guess Martin didn't have the balls or maybe decided to leave this to the new AD.
And, no, Brandon would never attempt to get rid of LC. Why would he? LC has never been the problem, despite what some people think. At the same time, no way would Brandon (or Mary Sue) let LC dictate whether or not another incompetent employee is going to be axed, and no way would LC would even try.
Brandon is a God.
At least I hope not. That would be a culture change BIG TIME!
I think we all saw these retirements coming, we just didn't know the details...
But Carr being forced out? What's Brandon going to do, fire him?
Very interesting. I guarantee that things have been extremely tense in the AD over the past week or so. Labadie, and obviously Carr, were tied into everything that the AD had both accomplished over the years. Labadie was very well respected within the AD and former players but it's quite evident that Brandon definitely isn't giving anyone the same sympathy that Martin did.
Change is initiated at the top. Brandon continues to impress me. This man knows how to clean house, who else could have brought Dominos back to a competetive status?
It is not at all uncommon to see a change in the guard when a new person takes over, much like coaching. I would agree that in the last few months there have been some intersting discussions, some heated, and in the end Dave Brandon has had to make some difficult choices. When you are on the outside of the box looking in it is a lot easier to see some of the issues and when you are "new" to the environment you are still looking in the box. Hopefully he can maintain his out of the box approach and keep the athletic department on the right track. Old habits are hard to break, but the more poeple you replace the easier it is to get them to do what you want. I see this as being a good thing for Michigan. It is not a stretch of the imagination to see an era of complacency at the end of Llyod's tenure both on the field and as an Associate Athletic Director.
I think one of Brandon's strong suits is his ability to affect positive change. I interned at Domino's about nine years ago, and one of the things he told us when we showed up was that the pizza sucked and the franchises were badly mismanaged. I spent most of the summer fixing franchise records and I think the pizza and the company's image is vastly improved.
good he sucked
Brandon added: "I absolutely don't think people should" think his departure has anything to do with the NCAA investigation.
He didn't say that Labadie's departure wasn't because of the investigation, just that we shouldn't think that it had anything to do with the investigation.
Tricky Tricky.
All that means is that he's leaving by his own decision and was not technically "fired." It seems like he's spinning it a bit, but I wouldn't consider him a liar.
is avoiding being sued.
Unless you violated the terms of your employment contract (being incompetent doesn't), and employer isn't allowed to state why you were let go. Resign, and it's the same deal, except even nicer. Businesses have been sued, successfully, for tens of millions by former employees for telling other potential employers, either directly or through indirect channels, that a former worker screwed up.
I wonder if USC is hiring
To hear the names Denard Robinson and Craig Roh instead of Brad Labadie and Scott Draper.
