I can guarantee you that Harbaugh does not give two shits about the star rankings of the guys on this team.  The guys who work the hardest, compete the best, and are accountable will start, period.

He's going to rub some kids the wrong way and it's probably going to be some of the more highly ranked kids who aren't used to having to compete rather than some of the under dogs on this team who have had to fight and scratch to get their spot on the depth chart.

I've gotten the sense there was a sense of privilege among some of the more highly ranked guys on the team, if Harbaugh runs some of those guys off it will be a good thing although I'm sure this board will melt down over it if there are some high profile transfers.

I don't even know where to go here. So, sitting in your couch, or in your seats at the stadium ( I assume yours are in or near the locker room and thus way better than my own to make such assertions) you've come to see some level of entitlement among the higher ranked players...like how, exactly? Of course, it's your spider sense? A "feeling"?

Whatever. I showed up week in and week out for that team this year and they did not play well. Not at all. I saw deficits in scheme, boneheaded clock management, punting from the Palaeozoic era and a clearly broken quarterback working his way through system #3. I didn't see quit. I didn't see entitlement. I saw players, out coached by a mile stay with tOSU for 3 quarters.

Harbaugh will be a hell of a coach but he won't win with hard working three stars rabble rabble. You still win with talent that is well coached. Ask Meyer, Saban, Carroll etc.

If two more OL left, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I would imagine Michigan will see a Texas/Charlie Strong level of cleaning house in the coming months/year.  The program is in need of a major culture change, and there's going to be a good amount of players that won't want to do it.  Bosch won't be the last to get the "do it my way, or hit the highway" ultimatum from Harbaugh.  To me, its better to clean out the "locker room lawyers" as it was put in Baumgardner's article even if it hurts you in the short term.

Underneath Bo's "Those Who Stay..." placard John penned "and those who leave will become doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers..." etc. and then quit the team. He went on to serve as a distinguished tax lawyer. (I've known him for at least fifteen years, he was a mentor to my significant other and we worked together on legislation and regs concerning the patentability of tax avoidance methods.) John is a credit to the University, he just opted not to sacrifice his stellar academic record for Michigan Football. Ideally Coach Harbaugh will enable the "Prusiecki's" on the team to remain.

From reviewing Bosch's tweets and commentary, I doubt he departed to safeguard a distinguished academic record. My hunch is that some dynamic arose with involvement of Bosch's father after the son rode the bench. Regardless, it disappoints.

Absolutely the Prusienskies can stay on the team - but not on athletic scholarship. If they wish to commit to the sacrifice of time, energy, physical exertion required, and they either achieve an academic schollie or pay their way... then please join this team and act as role models, scout teamers, and occasionally earn the Kovacs cross, as the Glasgows and Kerridges have before you. You are absolutely wanted & needed!

At this level, it I'd dodged to be a full time thing, right or wrong. The Power 5 have accepted that by taking about delayed tuition for football players who want to come back to work on degrees.

I was a classmate of his.  Great guy, and truly brilliant.  Also, as his sign shows, very funny.  I haven't seen him in years.  Hope he's doing well.

By the way, he told me that Bo shortened his sign when he quoted it in his book.  The real sign had about 20 distinguished professions.  John said, "You know me.  You think I would have stopped at 'doctors, lawyers and captains of industry?'"  (Not sure about "captains of industry," but whatever Bo listed.)

The edge of the internet also told me to horde gold and tobacco in my basement bunker because the Lizard People are going to remove their human skin suits and reveal themselves any day now in the various governments of the world.

I'm sure there are some truths out there about OL transferring; look at the depth chart and I'm sure there are kids realizing they won't see the field much and I don't blame them for wanting to look around.  But this isn't going to be a Carr-level departure.

...but considering the magnitude of the change in approach on the offensive side of the ball, I don't think there were all that many transfers then either. It might have seemed like a lot because it had been so long since Michigan had been through a change in regime, but compared with a typical coaching change (and not a promotion-from-within) it wasn't that bad. It certainly was nothing like what happened when Bo arrived.

Not saying this was the case with Bosch, but I imagine there will be a few players who have heard tales of how Harbaugh expects his players to pay him in every single ounce of sweat and blood they have who will potentially attempt to transfer out.  To beat a dead horse (albeit a great one), those who stay will be champions.

It's unfortunate, but clearly there's more to the story than first appeared. It should be noted that it's unclear whether the "stipulations" for him to remain in the program are Harbaugh's or Kyle's or his dad's. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

The article says the "meeting produced two options....."

1) Stay with the team, with stipulations, OR

2) Transfer.

First, I would assume that Kyle and his dad would be on the same page prior to the meeting w/ Harbaugh.  So I think it isn't a Kyle/Kyle's Dad/Harbaugh distinction as much as a Bosch/Kyle's Dad vs. Harbaugh distinction.

If the kid marched into Harbagh's office and demanded to start, that would take insanely huge balls. Anybody can spend 30 seconds googling Harbaugh and know that he is not a man to be dictated to.

Second, the article says the options were as a RESULT of the meeting, to me that sounds like Bosch had two choices when he walked out the door.  If it was "Bosch starts or he transfers," then it would be Harbaugh with the choice, and the tone of the article just does not seem to frame the situation in that sense.  My guess it was the other way around:  Harbaugh essentially saying, "You can stay, but I am also going to require you to......"

Now, maybe it was just the same stuff Harbaugh will tell every other player.  i.e. ".....work your tail off every snap and every drill, there is not a guaranteed starting position, and you will earn every minute you play on the filed just like everybody else."  Maybe that's what Harbaugh said and it wasn't what Bosch was looking for.

It's also possible that the nature of Kyle's absence from the program was the reason for an extra stipulation that Harbaugh laid down.  We can speculate all day on what that was, but I don't know it would much good to know exactly what the stipulation was.

The bottom line is that my own personal vibe I get from the interaction is that it was Harbaugh who put an extra stipulation on Bosch (above and beyond what the rest of the team will be required to do), and Bosch was not willing to comply with the extra requirement.

Happy trails, good luck,  and let's get back to winter conditioning with the rest of the team....

I can't understand the negs you've commandeered here, but this post was built of clear thinking. It was a bit long, but very good.

And you can distill it down and bet all your cattle that this part is the operative one:

  • "It's also possible that the nature of Kyle's absence from the program was the reason for an extra stipulation that Harbaugh laid down.  We can speculate all day on what that was, but I don't know it would much good to know exactly what the stipulation was."

About 90% of this guy's commentary reverts back to race or racism in sports. The other 10% is trying to prove the NBA is still relevant. Simply put, Stephen A Smith will turn a JV girls soccer game into a racially divided argument some how, some way. Puke.

Lol you must be an ignorant white guy. I believe the MLB and NHL are the two sports that are on their way to becoming irrelevant in this country. One being too boring for the new generation in America at least and the other having the dumbest commissioner in sports.

And with regards to my Stephen A Smith picture in response to the Ariana Grande gif... I think this is appropriate:

Upvotes don't lie. Maybe I was too harsh. I just don't like the guy and I don't respect his commentary. I could care less what you were referencing.

As to the NBA and it's TV relevancy, Exhibit A:

http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2015/01/most-watched-sporting-events-2014-nfl-super-bowl-world-cup-olympics-bcs-nba-finals-world-series/

Out of the 50 most-watched TV sporting events in 2014, the NBA didn't have one lousy game on the list. When the list excluded the NFL and Olympics, the NBA was still behind CFB, FIFA, NCAA BB, and the MLB. Oh yeah, and Horse Racing. Not sure what annual TV ratings are like but the biggest televised sporting events based on viewership aren't NBA.

And get this... I actually like basketball. Go Blue! Beat Penn State.!

Your little rant against Stephen A Smith had nothing to do with what I was, albeit badly, joking about. Go white knight somewhere else.

What did I say was wrong about either MLB or NHL? NHL has been dead since the lockouts and MLB is losing appeal.

Again go cape somewhere else. You proved my point of your ignorance when you stated you don't care about what I was referencing.

You just used a picture of Stephen A Smith to go on a diatribe about something completely off topic. Smh.

The expanded too much, gave Wayne Gretzky too much credit and went overboard with too many outdoor games.  Oh and hockey coverage has sucked since the lockout after ESPN jumped ship.  At least they would show west coast games and had doubleheaders most weeks.

Just shut up for a while. "White knight"? Please.

You're bordering on offensive/derogatory terms that in no way describe me as a person. I simply don't think Stephen A is good reporter and uses racial overtones too much that rarely connect with his commentary. That has absolutely nothing to do with me being a white guy. Sit the next few plays out, Champ.

Wow. Didn't think I'd have to explain that.

White knighting doesn't mean you're white.... Can you google something? Please.

Your diatribe against Stephen A had nothing to do with what I was referencing which was a gif of Ariana Grande. Hence why I called you a white knight and that you're caping for something that isn't there.

Let this picture clarify for you.
