Agreed. I think it's silly to poo-poo higher rated players. I recall many MGo members back in the Dantonio era poking fun at Staee for grabbing a lot of 3 stars. Obviously culture fit is a huge thing, but remember Jabrill Peppers? He was a team changing talent
I'm not sure where you are in TX, but in Houston you have those turn around cut outs on median/blvd separated roads and everybody turns around into the near side of the cutout instead of going to the far side. The result is that you can't see oncoming traffic because the other car opposing you (turning other way) is blocking your view.
We also have dedicated turn arounds for each direction and even those are arranged incorrectly so that your view is block by the guy opposing you. It's downright dangerous because every time you decide to pull out, you're hoping not to get T-boned.
I was just recently in UT's (Texas) weight room and it is huge. Very high ceilings, tons of power racks and all the extra goodies. Looks a lot nicer than what ours looks like from the pictures.
This morning, Sam Webb said he was confident in JH, but not too confident. He gave a vague statement that Michigan "missed" on coaches last minute in 2007 and 2011, so maybe the 2011 "miss" was with Jim?
Who knows, but baby seal seems confident, so who are we to question it???
Sam Webb seemed to disagree completely with Brian's sentiments. In fact, he said Miles was almost a sure thing and him saying he wasn't interested was complete BS. We'll have to see how it shakes out though!
Dude, we get it, you don't like Miles. To say he's gotten "lucky" in the SEC is laughable. Also, look at his recruiting rankings vs Michigan's. Hint: they're very similar. Invalid argument is invalid.
These guys were recruited by some pretty good programs, so I'm fairly certain they have talent enough to run an offense. I'm going to guess that coaching had a lot to do with how Devin and Shane looked this season.
That's a pretty bold statement to say that Les Miles is a "known scumbag". What proof do you have of that besides internet rumors?
I hate to reiterate the same "cool story bro" over and over again, but I have a close friend with a MSU undergrad and Buckeye graduate degree who worked with Miles for years at Okie State and said he was a fantastic coach and a great guy to boot. Mind you, this guy also takes shots at Michigan every chance he gets, so for him to say something like that speaks volumes to me.
How many teams have you seen with an awesome talent base that didn't perform on the field? Happens all the time! Michigan recruits just as well as LSU and I don't feel like pulling the data again.
Does a Zook Florida team ring a bell? How about a Lane Kiffin USC team? This is getting tiresome. Give credit where it's due man. Miles is a top notch recruiter and coach. You don't "get lucky" for 10 years and win 78% of games at LSU.
Sounds like exactly what everyone here thought as well.
On another note, it is nice to hear that everyone is happy with the direction Hackett is going and the way he is conducting this search. Sounds like he is engaging all of the stackholders.
There have been many instances of places stocked with great talent, but have fallen short due to poor coaching. Ron Zook, Muschamp, Hoke, Kiffin...need I go on?
College ball comes down to coaching and player development. It doesn't matter how much talent you have if the coaching is garbage. Bottom line: Miles recruits well AND develops the talent. You don't get lucky in the SEC west and win like he does.
What kind of things are you talking about? My friend worked with him day in and day out at Okie State and said he really liked the guy. Also said the players liked him too.
What proof do we have that Miles has done anything wrong? It is nonsense to rule him out based on rumors. If his recruiting practices are what you're talking about, it's simple: let him know straight out that none of that flies here, period. Now what is the problem?
Gives some of the fans a perspective on what these players have endured and how not getting behind the leadership leads to turmoil. More fans need to read this.
I was hoping someone else had picked up on this too. I have no preference on offensive scheme (different ways to skin a cat), but when Ray said the spread doesn't work in the north, I starting yelling in my car.
Also, I don't understand the notion that Miles may not do as well with less talent at Michigan. We see it time and time again in the college game: coaching makes all the difference regardless of talent level. As an example, Lane Kiffin had some very talented players at USC (same or better levels than LSU), but they underperformed. Miles sustained Saban level results at LSU over the long term. He's a great coach and trying to argue that points to more of a personal dislike than reviewing the facts.
Miles' success extends far beyond Saban recruits, so you're argument there is weak. I'm merely suggesting Miles is more of a sure thing based on a pretty large sample size, but if you want to argue that, then fine.

As mentioned below, tibia and fibula.

Just realizing I didn't link in OP, sorry all! Maybe the mods can edit
Yeah it really feels like they're grasping at straws now. Guess all the substantive content has already (hopefully) leaked

Cool
Looks like her, yes

I think he means coaches who went back to coach the schools they attended.
I don't think I've ever seen a box this tight before...
Does this look like the face of a liar??

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but why on God's green earth would you have an OC with no HC experience higher than anybody on that list?
If Jim says no, please give us this:
These guys were recruited by some pretty good programs, so I'm fairly certain they have talent enough to run an offense. I'm going to guess that coaching had a lot to do with how Devin and Shane looked this season.
Next season we will have three highly rated QBs on the roster: Shane (Jr.), Speight (RS Fr.) and Malzone (Fr.).
What lack of depth is there at that position?
That's a pretty bold statement to say that Les Miles is a "known scumbag". What proof do you have of that besides internet rumors?

Calling Tennessee Blue!
I will poop my draws with glee if we hire either Harbaugh or Miles
Is winning 78% of games a good fit for Michigan?
There have been many instances of places stocked with great talent, but have fallen short due to poor coaching. Ron Zook, Muschamp, Hoke, Kiffin...need I go on?

Yehaw!
Please, do not blaspheme on the site that Brian built.
Dag nabit guy, I feel like TennesseeBlue with the monkeyrodeo.gif
The "hype" may have something to do with people liking double digit win seasons and MNCs?
What kind of things are you talking about? My friend worked with him day in and day out at Okie State and said he really liked the guy. Also said the players liked him too.
This could be nonsense, but if Miles has really not been contacted, that would be disappointing.
Yeah, I don't want him either...
I guess 78% of the time the mad hatter act is okay then.

IF JH is going to be a no, why the hell are people like Addazio even in the conversation when Miles would probably say yes. He should be the clear #2.
First double post! Yippee!

Hey Ace, best of luck to you guys in figuring out what is going on. Hope you feel better soon!

That makes too much sense and would thoroughly obliterate all Miles detractor straw man arguments!
What the heck is happening on the board tonight? It's like everyone is a space cadet.
