Considering that the kid acknowledged that he "had trouble" handling going from starter to mop-up time, then left for "personal" issues, I'd bet a large sum of money that he flipped the shit out after getting benched (probably first time in his life), then Hoke suspended him for the whole year, and now Harbaugh told him if hes going to come back after flipping out on his previous coaches, he's going to have to X,Y,Z.

Creating conjecture about vague crap that a kid and his dad take to the media isn't really rumor mongering crap that makes a "fan base look bad."  If these 18-22 year olds don't want people people creating conjecture about them, they should either a) not go to the media after discussions with their coach, or b) go play at Dartmouth.  Nobody will bother them there.

Going to a school doesn't open you up to character assessments based upon zero fact by strangers. You're 100% wrong from every bit of info I have on this story. Presenting it as a "logical conclusion" is hazardous at best because people assume you're not just throwing shit against the wall because you feel like it. Do you want to take the bet or not?

Correct.

Merely being a human being opens you up to character assessments based upon zero fact by starngers - no need to go to any school at all.

And, you know, they had a discussion, as people do? And maybe the stipulations have something to do with the private reason that he left the team in the first place, so he doesn't want to discuss them now either?

We have no idea of the context of this discussion, and even if so, he basically said he didn't plan on transferring when he came back to Michigan.  He didn't say anything negative or anything, only that this was unexpected for him.  Sure there are connotations to that, but that's the nature of this type of situation I guess.

Sorry, but it is our business because college football is a business.  Just like we argue the student-athletes should be conpensated because they really are different than other students and they put in so much time on thier sport.  That's just part of the deal.  These kids are on TV and being covered by all kinds of media, so IMO it is our business.  Take the good with the bad.  If you're gonna be known as a high school kid and get publicity and be coveted and get a full ride to a school, you're also gonna have fans wanting to know this stuff.  It's just part of the ever evolving role of the FBS college football athlete.

Looking at what we know:

1) Started as a true freshman

2) Lost starting position

3) Unhappy about it

4) Left for untold personal reasons

5) Comes back only with stipulations, which he refuses to agree to

He is taking up a scholarship and proved himself to not be counted on, I am sure Jimmy wanted a committment from him ensuring he would not take off again.  I dont find this unreasonable nor do I think it makes him look like a tyrant.

Care to expand?  I've seen people mention "the edge" often, and agree that what has been relayed to the board has come true.  Apologies for being naive, but what exactly is "the edge" here?

I had the same question!  Then went on a quest to find "The Edge of The Internet"  It was an arduous journey.  Then then I found it tucked away in a small quadrant of the net.  Travel at your own risk!   http://www.boards2go.com/boards/board.cgi?&user=tmccanna12&user2=Michig…;

Or you can tune in to 1600 on your am dail at 3:00 pm.  Again caution is advised here.

is the stuff that the MSM refer to as "conspiracy theories" to discredit it.  I only need to hear a major news outlet declare something a "conspiracy theory" one time to know for sure that said peice of information is 100% accurate.

While disappointing for the team, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see a few go, particularly with the starting LT and RT spots seeming locked down by a sophomore and a junior.

While it would suck and reduce short term depth, it might be better in the long run to even-out the distribution over the classes.

Just with Bosh, if it happens, I hope we all wish them the best for the future.  I'm sure it's not an easy decision.

In fact, I wouldn't consider any spot "locked down" based on Harbaugh starting everyone with a clean slate.  Some guys who played would seem to have an edge--and the line did go from awful to almost average--but that isn't going to be the standard you need to meet to keep your spot on Harbaugh's teams.

I will be concerned if RT isn't an fierce open battle going into the season.  At least make him earn it if he is the best we have.

Heck - I would actually be pleased to see Cole bumped to RT or even G if the reason for it was being surpassed by others on the team.

I suspect Harbaugh (like any new coach) would make it clear to him and his dad that all positions are wide open, including the one he used to have and that he was getting no guarantees for playing time. I also suspect that Harbaugh told him that he was going to be expected to work his rear off like everyone else on the roster and that he wasn't going to be getting a lot if any further time to go deal with more personal problems.  It's what any new coach is going to tell a kid.  Obviously, there are a lot of ways to present that to a kid and his dad and they didn't like it the way they got it from JH.

Did a breif search but didn't find any.

I typed a couple weeks ago that I figured members of the OL would be most inspired by a new coaching staff, given the questions two years ago, and then having a true freshman, a walkon, and a converted DE as starters in front of a handful of guys who were 4 and 5 star recruits.  I'm not saying these guys shouldn't have started just b/c of their star ratings, but if I'm one of those backups, I'm pumped about a new set of eyes that will confirm what I believe, that I'm one of the 5 best.  I'm thinking about guys like Kugler, Dawson, Bushel-Beatty, Tuley-Tillman, etc.

Best of luck to Bosch and whomever else doesn't stay.  They're young.
