that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

Just checked, BTN is replaying the game twice on Monday, at 3:30 PM and in the evening.
|2 weeks 12 hours ago||I hope so||
2 per year, assuming there are no early exits, leaves you with at least 8 on your roster at any time. I know QB is an important position but still, that's a lot, especially considering that it's not a position where you plan on subbing guys in and out over the course of a game, like DL.
Methinks some will leave once the handwriting is on the wall... and their name isn't on it along with playing time.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||You're right||
If I'm an NFL GM, why would i use a late-round pick on a guy that I have to teach a position to and who has shown little skills or aptitude for that position. He is not fast, not quick and hasn't shown very good hands. He doesn't sound like a WR to me. I might sign him to a practice squad, simply because I need bodies and I know that he'd be willing to work hard and not have a sense of entitlement. But I sure would not waste a draft pick on him. I feel bad for the guy, that he got such lousy development during his time at UM.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Exactly||
Although Captain Migraine Dantonio gives Izzo a run for most obnoxious coach.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Age of players||
This may be OT, but I wonder what correlation there might be between the average age of players and scoring. I have a feeling that, if the one-and-dones stuck around a little longer, as more experienced players, they would be more likely to be able to score at a faster clip than their first-year counterparts, who rely on their coach to tell them to throw it around before hoisting their shot..
I looked at this article and was surprised how young all the real good teams were. It's hard for me to think that next year's Kentucky team wouldn't score more points if everyone stuck around. https://www.bsports.com/statsinsights/ncaa/team-age-performance-2014-men...
|5 weeks 13 hours ago||Notice||
You don't hear much "Michigan Man" talk as criteria for a coaching job any more. JH brought in proven coaching talent from outside the program and suddenly that's the criteria. Being an alumnus is just a nice coincidence.
|5 weeks 13 hours ago||Improved||
True enough that Beilein did a masterful job of keeping them from packing it in and in developing some of the talent. They needed more production from the C/ F positions and there wasn't much development there. None of the freshman bigs improved enough that you could sit there today and say that you saw enough that you could predict that, come next year, he will be able to reliably post up, play defense, or contribute offensively.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Bang on||
When it comes to Spring Football, who's got it better than us?? Nooobody!!!
Bang on all weekend.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I am sure||
I am sure that JH will work with Drevno to make sure that he knows what he wants called. And yes, headsets come in handy.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||Adding to the "rich musical heritage"||
It isn't easy to add to the "rich musical heritage." Something will have to go, if they are going to try to find time to put in new stuff.
It's weird, but sometimes, I'm in the stadium thinking, "this is the same stuff, week after week, Fanfare, Victors, opponent's song, Varsity, maybe birthday cake, with Carl saying the same damn thing week after week: can't they change it up?" Then some weeks, there's just comfort knowing exactly what's coming next.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||Goes a long way||
Only playing the alma mater at the end of the post-game band show It goes a long way to explaining why a good chuink of the stadium only knows one word from the song.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||Huh||
How's it much different from the MMB waiting for the players to come jump on the wall after a win and sing The Victors? They do that now.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||Arrogance is us||
OT, the flip side of our arrogance is the inferiority complex that comes right out of the Sparty fight song, where they sing "see, their team is weakening, we're going to win this game."
In other words, MSU success is not related to their own overwhelming talent or ability; instead, it's a function of how the other team's S&C program has failed them. Their focus is not on their own team, they're more concerned with the other team, namely, us.
I've tried to throw that analysis at various Sparties at some late-night sessions but it's often scorned. What else is new?
|9 weeks 4 days ago||What's with Morris?||
The article doesn't say that he is leaving his gig with Minnesota. How does this gig fit in?
|9 weeks 4 days ago||Jim Price Drinking Game||
Drink a shot every time he mentions the "Art of Pitching." Nobody would last long.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe they could dig up Eli Zaret for pregame||
I remember how Kaline had a hard time criticizing the team early on. He got over that eventually.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||He's good at that||
Rod is very good at predicitng strategy. He is also very good at predicting pitching sequences, which is something I am interested in. Obviously, Jim Price is better at predicting pitches but Rod is close.
I would think that Morris (as a pitcher) and Gibson (as a manager who should be familiar with specific pitchers and hitters) would be decent at predicting pitches, but I'm not sure that they do it much. Some analysts don't bring up the subject, even where they are ex-pitchers, e.g. Steve Stone (aka Master of the Obvious: "well, the Cubs need to score a lot of runs in the ninth to win this game, Harry.")
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Good point||
Especially what with NSD coming this close to the end of the NFL season. There's an inevitable flurry of shuffling of coaches and coordinators. Kids' expecations shouldn't get screwed up with that.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||You're probably right||
But the question to me is whether Drayton (acting as part of and representing the institution) staying at OSU was part of the inducement of Weber to OSU. Seems to me you could at least make that case based A) on what Weber says (namely that it was) and B) the fact that Drayton left the day after NSD having known that he was going to be leaving and only revealing it after he got Weber's LOI.
I think if he wants out, he gets out. Whether he'd win a lawsuit, I'm not sure. I expect that the NCAA rules provide for all sorts of administrative remedies that Weber'd have to exhaust before you he'd think about seeing a courtroom.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||What options?||
Aren't there only 2 options i.e. stay or ask OSU to let him go?
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Something positive?||
Iowa has stopped scoring. That's positive anyhow.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Assuming of course...||
... that Drayton still took the job on the day he did.
He may well have waited until Weber's LOI was in before announcing he was leaving.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Not only that||
Urban announces on Signing Day that 3 OSU players are done because of "injuries." So far, I haven't found out whether they agree that they are done. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2015/02/49736/reeves-...
This is a shady program, not that they are alone. I feel sorry for the kid, mostly because he's just a teenager. An adult ought to know what he is getting into but not a kid.
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Come on now||
I can appreciate that this is a teenager, not an adult, and that teenagers don't always act like adults.
But that being said, these universities are vastly different, have different plusses/minusses, their coaches busted their rears to recruit this kid and he and his family cannot make a decision?
I'm sorry, it just sounds to me like he didn't have the guts to tell the loser that he wasn't coming to their school.
And I question his family letting him get away with pulling a stunt like this. Would you sign a LOI for your kid based on a coin flip?
|10 weeks 1 day ago||Yes, well||
The truth is in the middle. First of all, UM is not a good team and second, they played awfully. vs. Iowa. To compound matters, Iowa found our 2 big weaknesses (inability to create their own shot and lack of size/defense in the paint) and did a great job of pounding them over and over.
JB's teams can sometimes make up for their deficiencies by hitting threes. On nights where the threes don't fall, they lose, especially if the opponent is hitting on al cylinders.
I agree, at present, this is a lousy team. They have given a very good effort up till now but last night wasn't the best.
|10 weeks 2 days ago||Heck||
If all he misses is Spring Training, he should round into shape around May. Not good considering that the division got better. Hessman will have to DH.
|10 weeks 2 days ago||A few reasons||
QB isn't like other positions like WR or DB or OL or DL where you routinely take guys out and send guys in depending on the situation or whether someone needs a blow. A starting QB tends to play the entire game, provided the game isn't a blowout.
I expect that UM will have an established starting QB at the end of the 2015 season and that guy will be the starter going into 2016.
Either that, or you take JH seriously when he says that the best guy plays. That might be true going into a new season and/or when a guy stinks up the place in a few games.
But for OK to play in 2016, you'd have to assume that, after the 2015 season, UM has no established QB or UM HAS an established QB who JH is willing to bench in favor of OK.
I just think the odds of a college coach benching a starting QB that he has invested a year in is slim. Hey, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.
|10 weeks 2 days ago||That was my thought||
You'd expect that, come the start of the 2016 season, we will havean incumbent at the QB position with 2015 game experience, and with several remaining years of eligibility. I can't see this being anything other than depth.
I wonder what the kid is thinking, given the choices of other schools that he could have transferred to and where presumably had a lot better chance of getting to play.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||Exactly||
If Weber goes to OSU, I wish him all the luck in the world... off the football field.
|10 weeks 3 days ago||It's easy||
Urban will just cut someone.
