| 2 weeks 6 days ago | First names... |
I am the only Michigan athlete in the last decade to merit being called only by my first name. Sincerely, Denard. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | Yeah... |
I meant that hockey players can play a lot longer. Sorry for the ambiguity. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | So let me get this straight.... |
This board (in general) hates the students, the athletic director (for even speaking out about the safety of the players...must be bullshit), the NCAA. the head of the B1G, the entire SEC, and any football uniform that doesnt conform precisely with 1969 [[Correction: 1985...I was just informed that we had helmet stickers in 1969]]...aside from the obvious and justified Sparty and Ohio, what else am I missing? MGoBoard is turning into a vat of ignorant hatred that youll find in the comments section of any online news article. Brian & Co. are great, but I sure hope a lot of you polarizing opinionated asses arent alumni. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | Read what he said... |
He's on board with it, but he just wanted to point out the slippery slope. A lot of people were (and will after the first big playoff controversy) clamoring for an 8 or 16 team playoff. Football players' shelf lives have nothing to do with "years." They have to do with hits and injuries. There isn't some magic formula that says "after 5 years in the NFL, you will be retiring." That just happens to be around the time that theyve absorbed enough hits / injuries to drop their game that one degree that knocks them out of the NFL. Also, given that he makes 1/3 of what he did at Dominos, and the fact that he's a former player, I trust his genuineness when it comes to caring for the players. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | Hockey roughness.... |
Hockey is rough as hell and those guys are as tough or tougher than football players. Nevertheless, how many hockey players can play into their mid 30s / early 40s? Compare that with football. It's not even close. While guys get blasted in the face with pucks on occasion and flatbacked on a regular basis, the rates of vicious knee, shin, and ankle injuries are significantly less in hockey due to the differences of skating v. running....as well as not having multiple 250 - 300 pound beasts falling on you multiple times per game. |
| 3 weeks 4 days ago | Article commenters.... |
While people who leave comments at the bottom of articles are generally awful human beings, the people on that site especially deserve to be euthanized. |
| 3 weeks 6 days ago | Nah... |
I disagree with a lot of what you say, but you obviously have a brain and provide information. While it was your thread, it wasn't intended for you. |
| 3 weeks 6 days ago | Student bashing.... |
While I disagree with MLDWoody's hatred of the GA policy, I agree with his sentiment that this site is full of a bunch of assholes who have absurd "get off my lawn" attitudes when it comes to student attendance. Whether it's bitching about Michigan students painting the Sparty statue since "Michigan is classier" than that (despite college pranks being prevalent at Cal Tech, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc), or complaining that students are late to games after sitting in 25 minute lines to get into the stadium, you guys seriously need to chill. As people so informatively showed above, students werent showing up on time, if at all, 15 years ago. If they want to lower student tardiness, have more late afternoon / night games or fix the stupid gate system so you dont have 60% of the crowd going in 25% of the turnstiles. We'll all be on time when we grow up, have families, and dont want to take advantage of those 6-7 gameday party mornings per year. Then we can be like the rest of you, SIT on our CUSHIONS for 93% of the game, and contribute towards Michigan stadium being the quietest big stadium in the country. Get off my lawn. |
| 3 weeks 6 days ago | Last time on the OL..... |
He didn't exactly have "coaches." |
| 4 weeks 2 days ago | For the record... |
I like the new rule. I got tired of having to walk in at Section 29, then move over to 26. Im just making the point as to why students dont care as much any more. "Not caring as much" is still nowhere near the justification to take tickets away from students so some Class of 78ers can sit on their seat cushions with wine teeth. Also, by taking away student seats, youll go to a lottery system like Wisconsin, where the "drunk sorority girls" still get tickets and boot out some of the better student fans.

| 4 weeks 3 days ago | Ticket prices.... |
300 bucks for student tickets = way damn too much. The student section was basically GA already, so I don't care about that, but 300 bucks??? Just because they can raise the price doesn't mean they should. We're paying 2x or 3x the amount of tuition of the older "real" fans, even after adjusting for inflation. When I'm making enough money to where I'm flying back for games, ill gladly pay an extra 20 so the students making negative dollars aren't getting gouged relative to other universities. What you get are a lot of students selling tickets out of necessity to friends and next thing you know, there are 100 assholes in OSU hats in the student section. I love DB for most things, but charging students this much for tickets, and the fact that he charges us anything at all to watch the mediocre (relatively) baseball team in an empty stadium are areas that he annoys the crap out of me. |
| 4 weeks 3 days ago | Yup.... |
At the end of next season, we'll finally see the end carnage of how few NFL prospects RR recruited and produced. We'll have Martin, Molk, Lewan, Gardner (tbd), Denard (different position), and potentially schofield. This will be 6 over the course of the last 5 seasons, with only one if them likely to be a starter. That output is putrid for Michigan, and you know every coach pounds that stat in recruiting when going up against us. This just shows even more how awesome the new staff is at recruiting. So is this a function of crap RR recruiting, crap coaching by RR, crap coaching by hoke, or something else I'm missing? And don't cite the spread. Meyer had no problem at Florida getting guys in the league. |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | Kelly... |
His teams have gotten progressively better, culminating in an undefeated regular season. Whether it was luck or not, it's a hell of a lot more impressive than winning a sugar bowl game after losing 2 in the regular season. |
| 4 weeks 6 days ago | Give me a break.... |
Even Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard, Yale, etc. engage in pranks like this. If you think us Michigan students need to be "classier" than these schools, you need to stop smelling your own farts. |
| 5 weeks 4 days ago | Might be a bit much.... |
Not sure if we should be claiming to enjoy a butt taco.... |
| 5 weeks 4 days ago | Mmmmmm..... |
Taco w/ peppers. |
| 5 weeks 5 days ago | Next year... |
Remember, we only signed 3 OL combined during 09-10. The first big OL haul for hoke is redshirt freshmen and only one of the 2013 group is here. Both will be on the field next year and barring a QB injury, we'll have a game. |

Are you going to try any bubble screens against the 2-3? |
| 9 weeks 3 days ago | Richard Sherman |
Richard / Dick's Approach to Life: Step 1: Get into Stanford because you're an athlete (not knocking preferential admissions....but don't pretend you're a supreme academic like your fellow Rhodes Scholar classmates). Step 2: Graduate in 5 years with one degree in communications, taking "Edge" multiple times (one of those Stanford athlete classes where you write a ten page paper on literally anything and get full credit after never going to class). Step 3: Become a public figure and do well in the NFL for a season or two. Step 4: Ridicule all of those plebeians with Vanderbilt degrees who are doing their jobs as sports analysts. While we mostly criticize the pro athletes slinging coke, jerk offs like this guy coming and basically saying that he looks down on 99.99% of our resumes is just as big of a put off. My updated list of least favorite athletes: 1) William Gholston 2) Richard Sherman 3) Wisconsin's entire basketball team....especially the giant ginger. |
| 9 weeks 4 days ago | Ross / Bolden.... |
I understand the freshmen OLs dropping a small child of fat, adding a small child of muscle and coming out around even 9 months after getting on campus. Nevertheless....the already lean linebackers not adding weight is pretty weird. |
| 9 weeks 5 days ago | Let's face it..... |
We have a sweet point guard, weak inside game, and extraordinarily tempermental shooting. I think we can make a run, but the lack of toughness this team showed away from Crisler does not merit anything higher than a 4. |
| 10 weeks 4 days ago | 3 is good.... |
1) It's already going to be a small class. |
| 11 weeks 2 days ago | You're right.... |
He turned out OK. Unfortunately, OK leads to the inability to generate sacks rushing 4 and getting pretty well handled by good offensive lines. |
| 11 weeks 2 days ago | Finally |
I love seeing DLinemen with natural 270 frames as opposed to the RR recruits with natural 230 frames that had to bathe in bacon grease for 3 years to one day play at 280-290. |
| 13 weeks 1 day ago | Kalis..... |
Any reason he can't be a right tackle? I know that tackles are generally taller, but arent right tackles more run blockers and is the difference between 6'5 and 6'6" really that big of a deal? |
| 13 weeks 2 days ago | 120 yards..... |
Keep in mind that over half of those yards were on a play where he got lit up by 2 guys 8 yards downfield and the equalization of their force enabled him to stay up. While it otherwise was a nice half, we werent exactly steamrolling them on a consistent basis. Moreover, let's not hide the fact that Denard never shredded a good, athletic defense. He was exactly what we needed to prevent from losing 8 games per year, but the predictability of defending against a QB that couldnt throw 15 yards downfield is what made us unable to take that next step on offense....even when RR was still here. |
| 13 weeks 2 days ago | Best quote..... |
"That means a lot more Hoke guys and far fewer RichRod ones stolen from Bowling Green or Purdue." |
| 13 weeks 5 days ago | Burke.... |
He has gone into Kobe mode. It's really bad for a team if you have your star shooting 8 times with no assists. It is really really really bad for a team if that star player is your short point guard. |
