Woodson wants The Game played at 3:30 or later annually

From the Det News.

But he, along with Eddie George are working together to generate interesting (sic) in moving the Michigan-Ohio State game to a regular starting time at 3:30 p.m. or later. The game Saturday is at noon.

The two worked on a Heisman Trophy commercial together and Woodson brought it up to George. George agreed to allow Woodson to use his name in a Facebook post to promote this option.

“This rivalry, for the history that it’s always had, it deserves primetime, and 12 o’clock is not primetime,” Woodson said. “We got a lot of response. Most say it’s tradition or it’s too cold. Ah, come on, man, we all lived in the Midwest. The cold is not an issue. And as far as tradition, it’s the game, not the time. Let’s start this movement.”

"Gentlemen. When I first started Reynholm Industries, I had only two things in my possession: A dream...and six million pounds. Now I have a business empire the like of which the world has never seen the like of which! I hope it doesn't sound arrogant when I say that I am the greatest man in the world."

Would you catch the game at 3:30, or should they play on perhaps a Tuesday evening or something?  ;)

I have to work also, but noon games allow me to watch the game, THEN head to work (start at 4p)  :)

Yay for noon kickoffs!

The same arguement has been made for everything that is shit.

Tear out the grass and put astroturn on top oc concrete?  Why keep that shitty grass when turf = speed!

Play defense?  We're a modern spread offense now!  Quit holding on to the past, when holding an opponent to less than 60 points was a thing.

You think you have it bad. think about the poor people in Hawaii. Or Michigan fan's in Australia, Japan, and Korea. If we schedueled games to what was most convenient to the fan's living in the farthest time zones then the game would be played on Sunday at Midnight EST.

If the game got any later, I'd be too drunk to enjoy it. Perhaps even courtesy of a 24 wines cabernet savignon. The irony is enough to make me drink even more tomorrow.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm probably moving to San Diego. MAKE IT LATER!!!!

The Game was always at noon because that's when football games were played.  Things have changed with the rise of television and overall interest. If it so happened that they played most games during the Yost Era at 8 AM, I certainly wouldn't advocate for that based on "tradition."

Why put The Game at 3:30 with all the other rivalry games? That thins out the national viewership and interest. The Game should be the sole game on TV accross the country, imo. And, if that's at 12, then that's fine with me.

I agree. In terms of sequence on the big day, I grew up with The Game, then NE-OK, then UCLA-USC. That's how one became (in my case) a closet NE and UCLA fan. The NFL is trying to expand to the UK to open up an early time slot for the Bloody Mary crowd. In college, on the big day, that slot is all ours. No other rivalry comes close. Makes sense we'd want it for just us.

He's not talking about the west coast. I'm sure fans out there don't want a 9 a.m. game. I agree with him. Now it seems almost every interesting game ends up in the evening slot. I can't watch 4 games at the same time. I always liked games at noon. Drove me nuts waiting all day for the game. And I hated 3:30 games when I had season tickets. You missed all the 3:30 games and the 2nd halves of all the noon games. Having said that, I'm all for Michigan playing only night games so long as I'm still living in Korea. 9 or 10 am start times sure beat 1 or 2 am (depending on daylight savings).

I prefer noon games.  If I travel to the game I can get home at a reasonable time, if I'm watching it at home I can do other stuff during the afternoon.  Also, the cold is a real concern with late season games.  It's not a problem for able bodied young people to be sure, but there are a lot of kids and elderly people at these games and they have a harder time dealing with these temperatures.

Of course, there are legitimate argument to move it back, but I hope that those who do want it moved can at least acknowledge that there are a lot of things to consider.
