Jordan Morgan is just a better, more productive player. Mitch McGary is just a better, more productive freak athlete of a human. The rest of the analysis is kind of irrelevant. It's not Beilein's system that didn't give you opportunities, you just weren't more productive than your competition at that position.
With that said, I wish Jon the best. Really wanted him to come in and take all of Morgan's minutes from this past season.

I said all season that I hated the crap Devin Gardner took from "fans" during the year. Quarterbacks in general get too much credit for winning and too much blame for losing. Production from the QB position is just as dependent on the performance of others as it is on the talents of the QB himself. Put Tom Brady behind that OL against MSUs A-Gap blitz and he might not look like much more of a QB than Tom Crean. The kid gave us what he could give. There are a lot of other factors that go into wins/losses, i.e. the other 70 or so players on the team.

I was definitely moreso referencing the Michael Sam story, it had taken over. In their defense, though, they did the same thing with Tebow & Jeremy Lin. It just gets overwhelming how they'll find a jewel of a story and then obsess over it.
|1 week 3 days ago||Of course, I don't think the||
Of course, I don't think the announcements should stop by any means. I'm just saying that it's possible that ESPN, like any other media outlet, is using these situations to market itself. Every company wants a chance to make statements to express their morality and progressive thinking to appeal to the masses. I think they sometimes use these situations for views and page clicks. So instead of there just being an announcement, there's also 72 hours of covering the exact same story. "Hey look, he's gay and we still like him! Watch our channel because we're forward thinkers" kind of thing. Just my opinion, though.
|1 week 3 days ago||Get what you're saying||
I get what they're saying too, though. If being gay isn't supposed to be a big deal then why do they need around the clock coverage every time someone comes out? It's normal and we want everyone to treat these situations like such, yet make headlines out of the announcement, which makes it seem much less normal. That's counterproductive in some ways.

Ok we get it! Every year the players fail to live up to the offseason hype and you want to see it on the field. Well, how about you skip the offseason hype threads and reserve comment until its time for them to get on the field?
While we're at it, you hate coachspeak? Stop reading the pressers. Hookers make you uncomfortable? Stay out of East Lansing. It could all be so simple.

Difference is Aaron Hernandez is personally responsible for what he's being accused of. To your credit, I can understand the Eagles trying to dodge that PR bullet just in case an event does occur down the road. However, if they were that concerned with PR, Riley Cooper wouldn't be employed.

Sorry but the term "gang ties" that keeps floating around doesn't really mean much to me. If you grew up in certain areas, of course you would have gang ties. We like to call them "friends". Not all of us chose the same path but that doesn't necessarily mean you disassociate with everyone you've ever known.
My question is, if he's never committed a crime or personally gotten in any trouble, why do we care who he may hang with when he's not working? the whole reason gang ties sounds negative is because we associate gangs with crime. But if he's not a criminal after 6 years in the league, why do we care? Maybe he's not that easily influenced.
Reminds me a lot of Jalen Rose. From poor neighborhoods/situations, knows criminals but isn't one. Nothing wrong with that.

Tom Crean is a dickhead, that we know. However, that dickhead took the IU job when the IU job wasn't so great. He brought them back to being a respectable program, just last year they were one of the top programs in the country with multiple NBA draft picks. Why would IU can him at this point?

It means nothing really, unless you were desperate for resume wins. Otherwise, being the best team in a conference over a 4-day period and being the best team in the conference over the course of a season are completely different things. One, obviously, is more of an accomplishment than the other.
Hell, if a 4 game stretch decided who the best team in the conference would be, we'd have 5 different conference champions based on this season lol.

They went to 2 National Championships and came up short. The idea that they were "all talk, no walk" because of that is ludicrous. Just like last year's team, they did PLENTY walking and just came up short where 66 other teams could only be in their dreams. Hate that line of thinking.

Haha I used Craft because I know generally people associate the ghetto/toughness with black players. I'm not a big fan of his game, though.
|10 weeks 23 hours ago||Well..||
First of all, he couldn't be more right about the Gibbons' situation. Give him credit there.
Far as the other comment, it's true and false. I don't think that it's as much about being from the "ghetto", though. It's more about kids who play with an edge, those kids just often come from disadvantaged situations. There are exceptions, though, kids like Aaron Craft play with an edge. You can find those kids anywhere, they can have a chip on their shoulder from being overlooked or having separated parents. Anything.
I do understand where the thought process comes from, though. I've coached AAU since 2010 and you could tell the difference in the way our kids played. Most of them were spoiled, great family situations. But we had two who were from the ghetto and used to not having anything. They were the hungry ones, the ones who played harder than you can imagine, diving on the floor, etc. However, that can be TAUGHT. We fed that to the whole team and today they all play that way. So I see why he says that, there's truth to it, but not 100%.
