List of most hyped moments of 42-27

Submitted by Bo Harbaugh on July 17th, 2022 at 2:47 PM

Am I beating a dead horse here?, absolutely.

Have I watched the UM-OSU game way too many times this offseason - indeed, an unhealthy amount.

That said, the joy of that wonderous, cathartic, glorious day seems to never diminish, probably because it's been such a long time coming.  The atmosphere was absolutely lit, and it was a glorious, day.  That said, I've tried to list the moments from the game that gave me the most joy/dopamine hits.  A combo of the moment, the play and the crowd reaction/frenzy seems to be the best way for me to index.  Share your favorite moments as you please. Below is my list.

1) Haskins leap over Cam Brown - Nail in the coffin on the same sore loser that ripped of Wilson helmet

2) O-JA-BO - The call, the finality, the Lebron walk, the crowd.

3) Flea-Flicker to Sanristil, great call, OSU out of sorts, crowd was already in a frenzy from...

4) McCarthy to Wilson - the changeup, going for the kill, not playing conservative, great play call

5) Corum gashing OSU - First for 10 yards, then for 50+ right up the gut - 2nd half momentum

6) Josh Ross tfl - Turning point in the game imo, 3 and out for OSU to start the 2nd half

7) McNamara to C. Johnson - Perfectly thrown fade to retake momentum after OSU took a 10-7 lead

8) Hutchinson sacks Stroud in the 3rd - Continues momentum, "brings the pain", OSU punts

9) Haskins follow All into the endzone - Physical domination, edge blocked, Obvious OSU cant stop run

10) Hutchinson sack on Stroud in first quarter - Preserved the early lead, forced field goal

So much this.

Harbaugh was eventually gonna beat OSU, but I always assumed it was gonna be how Auburn beats Bama every couple years—via an unfathomable amount of random bullshit in UM’s favor.

Never in a million years would I have guessed “UM physically manhandles OSU to the point that they’re essentially quitting midway thru the 4th.”

I loved it when OSU freshman "superstar" Denzel Burke totally mugged Wilson at the goal line such that all three nearby refs threw their flags, and Burke got up holding his hands in the air shaking his head, "I didn't do anything".  Two plays later the 15 point lead is back in place, and, minus some incredible meltdown, the game was over, IMO.  That was the real gut-check drive for OSU and it was an epic flop. Burke's reaction, having been talked up by the announcers, after he'd already been burned several times and certainly didn't want to tackle our backs with any ferocity, epitomized the helpless entitlement of the 27-point team.

For me the 3 and out play after the 2nd half. Years past brought my BPONE and I was worried they are going to march down and score. That play let me think THIS IS HAPPENING.

By the way, I love talking about The Game. We haven't had a good one in a long time. We were all waiting for that Harbaugh moment from Stanford where he took down the bully of the league.

I have to agree with that…coupled with the long Corum runs immediately after.

I was happy to be up (by 1) at half, but yes, years of BPONE had me thinking that OSU would take the lead that drive and we would need to play from behind. Ross makes the play of his career, Corum uses his “blazing speed” and HH follows the convoy. At that point I wasn’t content, but knowing that OSU could not take the lead the next time they had the ball, is where the lightest glimmer of “belief” began.

I think to myself every time I see Corum on that 55 yard run is that he was not at 100%. I always think back to watching Corum go for that 65-70 yard TD run against Washington as him being at 100% full speed. If Corum was at 100% against OSU, no way on this planet he would've been caught from behind. He would've been g-o-n-e, GONE.

Corum is the first Michigan player I've seen since Denard that I look at and am amazed by how fast he is. Where I say "that is the kind of speed OSU routinely has lined up with its skill players on a year in, year out basis."

  1. Cam Brown/Roman Wilson - we has no fewer than three guys sprint across the field to remind Brown that this sort or behavior is frowned upon on our field. No buckeyes in sight until the scrum was over.
  2. We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
  3. Brandy and Dierdorf practically crying on the radio at going into victory formation. These guys wanted it as much as anyone.

What I loved the most about the Cam Brown scuffle is Keegan, Steuber, and Vastardis going right after him telling him to do the same to them. No punches thrown, no dirty bullshit, just cool, collected baiting for more penalties.

Gotta love All taking on about 6 buckeyes towards the end too. That kid's got grit. Gumption. Moxie. Zazz, if you will.

But remember, folks! Hayes! Keegan! Vistardis! Zinter! Steuber!

The men up front have been in-CREDIBLE!

Was the first time in a long, long time where I can recall Michigan not just consistently winning at the line of scrimmage, but flat out dominating it. All too often we’d been used to watching guys like Carlos Hyde, Ezekiel Elliott and JK Dobbins just gashing through Michigan’s defense with absolute impunity.

For once, finally, the shoe was on the other foot.

The entire game was superb - and, I hope that our beloved Stadium exudes the same spirit and energy every game for the foreseeable future.

Every moment was special - but, I’ll go with #1 - that hurdle encapsulated the day.

The reverse to Corum on the 1st TD punctuated a drive of beauty.

Frankly OSU made several 50/50 plays on offense and the interception which prevented a sick blowout.

We dominated.

This is kinda a cheating answer, but I'm going there anyway:

- The aftermath of OSU fans on twitter crying about how happy we were and trying to shame us for it. I loved every tweet.

- the aftermath of OSU players having the flu and related excuses

- the aftermath for weeks and weeks and weeks of watching highlights, rewatching the game on the first Saturday with no college football

- the aftermath of talking on MGoBlog about the best moments more than half a year later.

This game WILL NEVER END and I love it

It won’t ever get old. And you know what, I have a hard time believing I would have experienced something greater than that game as a fan last year.

Say we beat MSU and lose to OSU and yet make the playoffs and win the championship (over someone other than OSU). I would have been exuberant at the CFP final, but I’m really not sure if it would replace what that game was.

The highlight that made best use of the setting was definitely that fade to Cornelius Johnson. The way he slid on the snow leaving a streak was so iconic

I liked that is was snowing amongst all this athletic determination.

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it's so white as snow
Privately divided by a world so undecided
And there's nowhere to go
In between the cover of another perfect wonder
And it's so white as snow
Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed
And there's nowhere to go. - RHCP

Love that song.
