Than the weird half shamrock/half leprechaun helmets of a few years, ago, but they are hideous. Not as bad as those Maryland unis, though. It seems like the only attractive UA uniforms have been the Northwestern redesigns.

I'm a beta tester. Current version doesn't let you open threads. Not a showstopper today, but will be in a month.

Get J-Real in his ear and we have a shot. There are so many reasons to be excited about Jabrill being on the team, but his ability to recruit other NJ elite players is probably the biggest. It's also the ONLY good thing about adding Rutgers to the conference, as you can promise the kid that he'll play close to home twice in his career.

Still has the best quote ever in the story:
"If you know you are going to get assed, you try harder not to make a mistake." Words to live by.
It was highly doubtful I would ever go to MSU regardless, but I basically decided I could never go there as I read that article at the breakfast table. I was 12.

ESPN claims Soria is likely to be Joe Nathan's set-up man. Why would we keep Joe Nathan as closer? Joba's been fine in set-up, it's everything else that's been disastrous.

Loads of 'em. The entire team gets caught taking a single puff, and the whole program goes to Bolivia! McGary's revenge.

|19 weeks 4 days ago||Why more snaps per game matters||
It's partially just a percentages thing. Let's imagine that ever play has a 1 percent chance of being a broken coverage, RPS++++++, explosive touchdown (this number falls to -200 if it's last season's Michigan run game). In actuality, that number fluctuates constantly, based on defensive alignment, stamina, point in the game, effective establishment of base plays and their counters, etc. But it basically winds up meaning that every incremental play you have is an incremental opportunity for an explosive play.
Couple that with the limited play-calling, exhaustion, and misalignments that tempo creates means that you get more opportunities for explosive plays at a higher likelihood of success. This was one reason Niners fans were so irate about a couple of play calls against the Seahawks in the NFC championship game. They made several stops, then an erroneous call meant they had to make another stop, which often led to a touchdown for Seattle. Same principle.

Did you write this post with the explicit goal of getting Brian to post it in an updated version of this column? Following your logic here, professional sports would not be able to exist, because players get paid different amounts, and they're also in unions.
How can the concept of team survive unionization?
I continue to shake my head at union becoming a dirty word in the state of Michigan. It makes me sad. Because the leadership at the Big Three have more responsibility than any of the unions for what happened to Detroit and Flint and Saginaw, but the unions get the blame.
|21 weeks 6 days ago||Good God, guys.||
Have any of you read up on the actual demands of the Northwestern union? They're still required to abide by NCAA rules, so this has no impact on any potential for salaries. That's the fear that the NCAA wants to promote to keep fans on their side. The O'Bannon case might have implications on it, but this doesn't.
This is instead about the right to collectively bargain for non-income-related benefits -- specifically guaranteed medical coverage (especially for a year after the end of playing), greater academic support, and, most importantly, 4-year guaranteed scholarships. As has been noted, coaches can revoke scholarships for non-academic reasons -- "firing" players from a job that allegedly doesn't exist.
All this ruling actually states is that players are employees and that scholarships are salaries. A lot of you guys who are most negative on this news actually agree with the ruling. The fact that employees should be allowed to organize for better benefits is the factor at issue here. And I would think that the limits on transferring further emphasizes how much players are employees and not merely "Students."

It makes a lot more sense to get to Napa from Michigan than from Laguna Beach. I mean, Santa Barbara is a lot closer to where you were, so...

Skip city of Sonoma and hit northern Sonoma County, especially Healdsburg. Better wineries up that way, and the downtown is more fun (in my opinion; I used to work there). And if you go there, get the parents to watch the kids and eat at Ravenous. Best reasonably priced meal on the planet.
VRBO or Airbnb is almost certainly your best way to go. There are some real deals, especially because this isn't peak season. I've spent the last four New Year's Eves at various rentals, and they've all been fantastic. The last one even had a trampoline!
St. Helena is probably my favorite of the Napa Valley cities. Yountville is amazing, as well, of course.

Begs to differ.
Demar's been through some tough times, including a repeated inability to qualify academically, discipline problems, and even his community college program folding in Grand Rapids. If he had been able to cut it academically at Michigan, who knows where he would be right now. I'm just glad he's getting another chance.

I understand his parents' concern. Kids who care most about partying and stay close to home with friends who aren't going to college tend to struggle mightily -- not just among athletes, but all college students. Everyone I know who didn't finish school that I started with did so because of a focus on parties and hanging out with local high school friends.
I hope, for his sake, that this concern is misplaced and that he manages to make the most of his talents, wherever he winds up (Michigan isn't going to be it, obviously). On the other hand, he could turn out to be the next Marques Slocum (he was from Philadelphia, but the talent-level and interest in fun seems to have parallels).

But both Ohio State and Wisconsin were undefeated in non-conference play, which just makes non-B1G teams look even worse.

Between innocent and guilty. Is someone found not guilty of rape based on refusal to prosecute/lack of cooperation totally without fault? Absolutely not. At best, it's clear that, like Jameis Winston, Gibbons doesn't have a clear understanding of what consent is. Anyone giving him credit for avoiding prosecution is giving him more than the benefit of the doubt.
|31 weeks 9 hours ago||Worth noting...||
the B1G has only one team below .500 right now. That's kind of amazing.
