An interesting article about Jordan Poole, who plays for the Warriors. He's made a lot of progress since his first year, which was not mind-blowing.

When you are somewhat of a project you need to land in the right situation. I think he did really well for himself going to Golden State. I think he couldve ran one more year in college but until they start paying them its a no brainer.

It's not a bad strategy for players like Jordan to come out early.  They probably need another year, so they won't be drafted early by a bad team that needs help now.  An upper echelon team  drafting late may take a chance because they don't need immediate help and can take the time to develop the player.  You end up getting paid, and in a better situation.

I don't follow the League close enough to know, but suspect those with good player development organizations are generally those drafting later.

Thanks for posting this.  I was pretty skeptical when left, but proven wrong.  Sounds like he will be even better next year.

Great to see for Jordan. His first year was pretty ominous between his defensive effort and unexpectedly poor shooting so that it was a legitimate question whether he'd get relegated to the deep bench. Sounds like he's now ahead of the curve for a player of his age and well on the way to carving out a solid NBA career.

Favorite line from the article:

And while it’s tempting to credit his short shorts for that evolution, the reality is that he simply grew his game in every area

As a Michigan fan who lives in San Francisco, I was very skeptical about them taking Poole in the first round. His first year basically couldn't have gone worse. He was appalling on defense and his offense wasn't translating. Really started to feel like Stauskas pt. 2.

But he really turned it around after time in the G-League. The Warriors organization really helped him build his game, and he was a legit 6th man threat from the middle of his second year on. He's not Klay Thompson, but he did as good a job filling in that role on the team as anyone has in his absence. I really see him being a valuable piece for years and years to come. It's been fun to watch.

Wasn’t there supposed to be some ‘Cautionary Tale’ to be dripped about Jordan.
Can’t find the particular radio show anymore,  so I might’ve missed it.
I’ll have to ask around at the next Poole Party.

Anywho, Thanks forever for the Shining Moment and Congrats to him on blazing his own trail and carving his own spath to a successful NBA career.
