Sweet Sixteen Streak Muppets Comment Count

One Villanova basketball team vanquished, one to go. The ladies finally opened a three-score lead at the end of the 3rd quarter, and Naz Hillmon had her 50th double-double, and for the second straight year and the second time in program history Michigan Women's Basketball is going to the Sweet 16! March Madness indeed! Muppet up!

Sorry Runyans, but you can't have one without the other.

Bon voyage Naz. Bon voyage Amy Dilk! Michigan will face 10-seed South Dakota, who upset #2 Baylor, in Wichita next Saturday, which means the seniors leave Crisler a perfect 16-0 at home this year.

It's impossible to overstate how much Naz and the rest of the seniors have lifted this program to another tier. Prior to KBA coming in, the team had two trips ever beyond the NCAA first round (and not that many to the first round).

KBA got to the second round in her first year, and then it was a long string of WNIT appearances, including one championship.

Then Naz arrives. NCAA second round twice in a row, and now two sweet 16 appearances. Complete reset of expectations and the ceiling on the program.

Great crowd at Crisler tonight! Shout out to Maize Rage, families with kids in tow, and everyone else that hooted and hollered from the opening tip to final buzzer.  Naz is the foundation, but credit too to Leigha Brown, Emily Kiser, Maddie Nolan, and Danielle Rauch whose experience and grit muscled their way into the Sweet 16.  Go Blue!

Looked like a great atmosphere and it was nice watching UM survive a hot-shooting team getting into a groove.  Let's hope this is just the beginning of UM teams ending Villanova basketball seasons.

Fifty double-doubles is crackers! And she just did everything last night, laying on the full-court press to force turnovers, running the floor, making great passes--scoring through triple teams. That woman is a basketball player for the ages. And a very appealing person, to boot.
