A note about Iowa

This may not come to pass, but absolutely every Iowa insider thinks Brian Ferentz is done as OC. I think it’s dubious that whoever gets hired will be better, but we probably won’t ever see Cade in Brian’s offense.

I've been wondering if they told or strongly hinted to Cade he would be out. I just can't fathom wanting to go play for him even if it was a solid NIL package.

Kirk would be doing Iowa a disservice by keeping Brian on in any playcalling capacity.

The funny thing is that if Iowa modernized its offense even just a little, and got an OC in who knew what he was doing, they could consistently be a very good team that regularly challenges for NY6 bids. They seem to consistently recruit great offensive linemen, they develop tight ends really well, and the running game has usually been pretty consistent in at least being decent, this year notwithstanding. They can build a good offense with the talent they're able to get, even if they want to keep some pro style concepts.

Iowa has a much higher ceiling as a program than Kirk Ferentz is allowing it to ascend to. I truly wonder if he's just gotten complacent.

The easy way out is for Kirk to elevate him to a vague "associate head coach" position that is too time consuming and important to allow him to continue his offensive coordinator duties.   Then Kirk finds him a nice cushy job at a non Power 5 school within the next year.   Problem solved.

The fact that there are "Iowa Insiders" -- in addition to diehard Iowa fans -- who watch every snap of Iowa football and analyze the minutiae of it -- makes me so thankful that I am not that
