Interesting. Not that it means much here, but Michigan did pretty well with another Ivy League guard. Also, thanks for posting all of those links.

The link I couldn't find was how on earth you pronounce his last name

Correct!
Correct, unless you're native tongue is Welsh.
Llywelyn is a Welsh personal name, which has also become a family name most commonly spelt Llewellyn (/luˈɛlɪn/). The name has many variations and derivations, mainly as a result of the difficulty for non-Welsh speakers of representing the sound of the initial double ll.
Yeah, Wales, which has the city called
llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
do a YouTube search for a weatherman pronouncing it live on air…it’s nuts.
Correct, unless *your native tongue is Welsh.

Isn't Doug Llewellyn a game show host? It feels common to me because of that.
Desmond Llewellyn, who played Q on several of the early Bond movies for us older folks, maybe. That's one of those names that sticks with you, once you've heard it.
Definitely time for Wapner.
I remember him from The People's Court.
That name will forever bring back bad memories. He spent his Michigan career taking so many dumb penalties.

Not to mention a Williams grad as well.

ESPN has reported that he has been added to Clemson roster as of 14 April 2022. Are we trying to steal another school's commitment?
April 26th, 2022 at 12:56 PM ^
He re-opened his recruitment after that.
And so what if we were? I, for one, would welcome some recruiting tit-for-tat because programs have been doing that to us for decades now. And we've been too polite to do it back. (Or so our fine sensibilities would have us believe...)
He backed out of his Clemson commitment and re-opened his recruitment.

Not too many people have the letter "L" five times in their name.
April 26th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
Not even Hubert Blaine Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff Sr
April 26th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
Dllonalldl?
The Welsh really love the letter “L” for some reason.
That and Y, yes.
Well, it has a purpose in Welsh. The Ll has a unique pronunciation. But since there is no English sound for the Welsh pronunciation, in English the Ll is simply pronounced as a single L.
Now you know the rest of the story.

Princeton transfer, I dunno how our admissions department will like this???
/s - just in case
My first thought as well.
I would love to hear the conversation when Michigan says, "Yeah, 1/3 of the credits you earned at Princeton don't transfer here because we don't have a similar class", and Llewellyn says, "Yes, I know, that's why I initially chose Princeton".

This bums me out in a way- are they moving on from Shannon? I would definitely prefer him- unless JH knows something else is leaving.
April 26th, 2022 at 12:18 PM ^
word on the street is another potential transfer
April 26th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
Probably Bufkin
April 26th, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
That would be disappointing for our only in-state kid (and one who is a legacy to boot) to leave after a quiet freshman year as a 17-18 year old
April 26th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
Bufkin seems likely the likeliest transfer candidate by far. If Howard is trying to bring in a top-tier SG transfer, that's a message. Also Howard didn't exactly show a lot of confidence in Bufkin last year.
Well, he showed a lot less confidence in Barnes. And I think Shannon is a SG/SF, maybe even ideally a small forward. There is definitely a path for Bufkin and Shannon to play 30+ min a game, even if one of Houstan or Diabate comes back.
April 26th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
I think Barnes is more likely. Barnes transferring has been a rumor for a while as the staff has apparently not been super impressed with him
April 26th, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
Admittedly I totally forgot about Barnes. Is he a 2 or a 3?
Barnes is the one that makes sense to me. Bufkin leaving would upset my spirit.
I don't like it when any of our guys leave! They came here to be Wolverines, or that was at least part of the plan, but then life throws them a curve ball and they're out. Cue ' Lose Yourself'.
Bufkin leaving would mean some serious trouble for the bench unit next year. As of right now he is essentially one of three guards on the roster. Even if we added a transfer SG to start Bufkin is likely the first guy off the bench at the 1 & 2 with the possibility of him getting some run at the 3 as well.
Were really going to need to see some improvement from Bufkin as far as his combo guard skills are concerned because I just don't see a world in which Dug McDaniel can effectively see the court as a true freshman in the B1G at 5'8 with no jumper.
April 26th, 2022 at 12:26 PM ^
Maybe, but maybe not. Between Diabate/Houstan potentially going pro, a mystery outgoing transfer, and potentially Jace Howard going to walk-on status (I'm not clear on the feasibility of this, but it's been mentioned a lot) there is a path to at least 4 scholarships being open if I'm not mistaken. And if the guys in the building knew that Shannon is coming or that Diabate/Houstan are just going through the draft process for evaluation purposes only, I could see more outgoing transfers. That would be quite a logjam of talent, especially at wing and frontcourt. With the amount of contact Michigan has had with transfers, it seems like there are spots to fill.
Doubt they're moving on, but might not be as confident as we had hoped. Also could mean something about Bufkin or Barnes (please be the latter, please be the latter).
According to Dot, this isn't an either/or situation regarding Shannon and Llewellyn.
Good deal.
I watched a bit of his footage- liked what I saw. Seems pretty confident. Adding him and Shannon would be great for the backcourt.
Me likey! L's (if he joins the team, we're calling him 'L', right?) 3 pt. shooting percentage went from 25.3 to 30.8 to 38.6. At that rate, he'll be Steph Curry next year.
April 26th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
Already competed against the Michigan of the East...so now he's ready for the real thing!
Bonus: looks like he's from Canada.
April 26th, 2022 at 12:29 PM ^
Well, at least we know admissions won't be a problem with this one.

Tell me Kobe Bufkin is transferring without telling me Kobe Bufkin is transferring. Not that it matters, people on this here board said he didn't deserve any more minutes and managing a roster and expectations is always 1000 percent perfect by the guy who coaches our team!
April 26th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
Tell me you're butthurt about people not liking your bad take without telling me you are butthurt about people not liking your bad take.
I have screen grabs sweetheart. I look forward to you pretending like you were always right when Bufkin turns out great. I know your internet ilk, you'll always have an excuse.
I never denied Bufkin will be great and him becoming great does not prove your point.
You said Juwan mismanaged his minutes. Bufkin developing in year two or three does not mean he needed/deserved more minutes as a freshman.
I know your internet ilk, thinking they are smarter than the coaching staff despite being nobody.
I am nobody? That's an interesting philosophical take, but I don't think it's backed by reality. We can talk another time about that, but I'm not certain you're prepared for the level of discourse.
I also enjoy that you've now worked this into a rhetorical mess where you can only be proven right! Bravo.
The assumption that a player doesn't get better with minutes is patently false. As I noted, Martelli also played him more, so it seems that another "nobody" disagreed. I promise you, it won't be the worst thing in the world to not spend your time trolling people on the internet. Go ride a bike. Shoot some jumpers. Meditate. Life is long.
