Per his Instagram. Final two of USC and Bama. Oh well.

I grew up in SoCal and my parents decided to move to Michigan the summer before my freshman year of HS. I hated every second of that first Michigan winter experience, so I can completely understand that being a factor for a west coast kid. I understand he'll have to play in some cold weather eventually once he's in the NFL, but for now, he gets to decide his location for the next 3 years so he might as well enjoy it while he's there.

I'm the reverse, grew up in Grand Rapids and then moved to the Bay Arin my 20s. That first year without a Michigan winter was incredible. I had no idea life could be so different. It was like going from summer to spring, with a couple of weeks of early fall in between, which meant that I could pretty much do everything i could do in Michigan 4-5 months out of the year, year round. I realized then how underrated nice weather was.

Here's a relevant excerpt from Greg Biggin's article:

Jackson just visited Michigan over the weekend and the Wolverines have been recruiting the talented corner as hard as anyone over the last couple of years.

“I like Michigan, it’s a great school with great people but end of the day, I just didn’t see myself there,” Jackson said. “It’s nothing against them at all, I just felt more comfortable at Alabama and USC and thought those two were the best choices for me in the long run.”

USC has made up ground since the Trojans hired Lincoln Riley away from Oklahoma. We talked to him just a week ago and he said it was mainly Bama and Michigan and he saw himself leaving home to play his college ball.

“Lincoln Riley has been blowing my phone up and that’s been impressive,” Jackson said. “With all that he has going on, for him him to take all this time to reach out to me shows me a lot. He wants to come in for a home visit but this week is pretty crazy so that will probably happen next week.

“He said he wants send in coach (Alex) Grinch (DC) first and then he’ll come in later. I’ve heard from coach Grinch too and also Roy Manning, who was the DB coach at OU. I’ve been texting back and forth with coach Manning and looking forward to meeting those guys in person.”

Jackson said he doesn’t know Manning that well yet but has heard good things.

“He talked about their track record at Oklahoma for getting DBs drafted,” Jackson said. “He said they put three in the Draft the last three years with two starting in the League (NFL) right now. He said to give them a chance and said they’re about to do something special so I’m going to give them a shot for sure.

“ I’ll probably make it down for an unofficial visit once things get settled and I told the coaches I still have two weeks before I decide on what I’m going to do. I’m announcing on December 15th so there’s still time and I still have a lot to think about.”

Really frustrating to read. Was a Michigan and Bama battle, but then Riley and staff, who Jackson apparently barely knows, came in got him looped into the hype and somehow knocked us off despite a win over OSU. I'm kinda flabbergasted honestly

Roy Manning might be dead to Oklahoma too, seeing as he's still currently an OU employee who is presently recruiting for the Sooners (he was on an in-home today!).

There might be some issues if he's two-timing them.

Edit: oh shit...

Exactly .  Riley has no track record of significant success getting corners drafted high in the NFL.

Domani just attended a game in the winter where 3 OSU potential first round pick WRs could not keep their team from getting smoked.

If I'm Will Johnson, you did all you could do.  I'd quit hitting this Domani guy up and he will either realize USC ain't a quick fix or even better Georgia smashes Bama.

That was my thought... He talked about relationship being key and it is all shot down in an instant... Again, just feel like Domani just wanted an excuse to not commit to Michigan... He was a silent commit for Michigan but he committed to USC... Now, he won't even consider committing to Michigan... That is a life of recruiting.

Sounds like a kid who really wants to stay home at USC and now they have a bona-fide coach that will see him through his three years there. Good luck to him, we shot our shot.

It's kind of crazy to think that some of these guys won't play a game in the cold till they're pros.

Flabbergasted?  Jackson really did nothing to show interest in us except take a free ticket to the biggest football game of the year.  He chose USC over us when the program had a lame duck coach and was terrible.  He was never coming here. Tip your hat to him, he played the recruiting game well but the writing was on the wall with this one.

Sure but what we know is that he talked about relationship was key and he committed for Donte... NOW, we know Donte is not going to be retained and Domani priorities have changed..

Dream school talk is nonsense

His silent commit was nonsense (as we see that he had no issue committing to USC quickly)

It is about the relationship but that changed quickly with Riley and staff (which then I ask him, why were not interested when he was at Oklahoma)

At the end, his life and decision but a lot of inconsistent... Life of a recruit... lol

This has nothing to do with Michigan but more about Riley and USC.  I've read that their 2022 & 2023 classes could be off the charts - just unreal.  He'll be pulling recruits away that were considering not only us, but Oklahoma, Alabama, OSU and several others. Riley can put together a NC type team by not even leaving the So California region while recruiting.  Just shows how bad the coaches that followed Pete Carroll underperformed

Predictable. Glad we know and can move on finally AGAIN. It’s better to have kids who are all in for M. We will be just fine. Onward and upward.

I posted in the original thread…I’m kinda worried about recruiting to be honest.  Not like panic button worried but yeah seeing as we just kicked oSU teeth in but yeah this cycle head scratching.

I don’t think we get Walker or Conerly either  but probably Berry.  And that will be the class.  I’m

Not gonna feed your troll ass but pretty sure Will Johnson is a 5 star, until proven otherwise Josh Conerly has all the crystal balls to Michigan, Zeke Berry commits on Friday, trending up for Keon Sabb, signed 2 five stars last year in McCarthy and Edwards.

How did 5 star Zach Harrison, 5 star Taron Vincent and 5 star Tyreke Smith play against walk-on Andrew Vastardis, 3 star Andrew Steuber and 3 star Ryan Hayes on Saturday? FOH

You made statements that most of the 5* kids in our radar won't be here. May be they will, may be they won't. You don't know. We will be fine regardless. Then, you go on to shit on other players. May be you should check your response. It is OK to be pessimistic but don't expect others to accept it.

Kids' minds won't change overnight because of one game. At the beginning of the season, when many uncommitted recruits were truly weighing their decisions still, our head coach was perceived as incredibly unstable, with a bad season likely to result in his ouster. Kids rightfully were wary of Michigan in September.

If the OSU win/possible playoff berth has any effect on recruiting, it will likely start next year. Coaching stability is a hugely important factor for recruiting. It's a big reason why MSU just gave their coach a ten-year contract.
