I don't know what it is about him, but President Schlissel just seems like a great man. I have a great amount of trust in him that I never felt in MSC. He just seems like a true principled, academic-minded leader (who still appreciates the role of athletics and other activities on campus). MSC always seemed more "corporate" to me (though she may have been the right leader for the time, as UM was facing steep cuts in state funding while facing increasing competition on a global/national scale). Sorry for rambling (I have been drinking), but I just think Schlissel will be great at Michigan and I really like the hire. Michigan is in a great place with Schlissel, Hackett, Harbaugh, Beilein, and Bakich (I think he is also going to be great--it seems like he and Harbaugh really get each other, with Harbaugh recruiting for Bakich and Bakich saying things like this:

"I’ll say this, he is an absolute stud. He is a guy that every coach would love because you won’t find anyone more intense, you won’t find a guy that will attack the day like that guy and you feed off of it. You just want to be around him. You can’t wait to see what he is going to do next, not only for Michigan football, but for the university and in energizing the fan base. You get a guy like that who is a superstar in the coaching realm and the impact he is going to make is going to be bigger than just the wins and losses.").

Thank Harbaugh he had the ability to survey the landscape so quickly after being thrown into a situation he knew nothing about and no experience with to have the balls to clean house and find the right AD to fix things.

Considering the manner in which Schlissel got his introduction to Michigan athletics and the state of it when he took it over, hopefully he gets an opportunity to see a Michigan win in the first game of the Harbaugh era. He's already provided some excellent leadership in all of this, but a win tonight would be a great way to start this next chapter in earnest certainly.
