I feel like this is a sort of rorschach test. I heard "Fuck the Packers." Which I'll allow.

If Howard can't bring in the…

If Howard can't bring in the 0th best class in the country, is he really worth it?

One worker at my grandfather…

One worker at my grandfather's facility was positive, and it spread like wildfire. My 99 year old grandfather missed his 100th birthday by 11 days because of that.

As someone who is fully a Kindle (on my phone more than anything) reader and audio book listener, I still love Literati. And gift cards from there are a regular gift exchange in my family, so whenever I'm in town I will buy something with the accumulated gift cards.

Well, looking beyond the content, I would say mgoblog is broken. There was a half-assed redesign 2(?) years ago that created more problems than it fixed and no one has gotten around to fixing any of the new problems or the old problems that weren't addressed.

You may have something on your phones that block cookies. Only thing I can think of.

Meanwhile, my friend's side…

Meanwhile, my friend's side website is currently raking in cash because it's been featured in a few different large publications as something to do while stuck at home. (His site directs people to streams of Broadway shows.)

There are a few different…

There are a few different groups that play into it. There's the strategy squad, which is mostly a bunch of people who can barely math, but who decide which territories are most important for today.

Then there is the nerd squad, who the strategy squad gives the priorities for the day, and they do their nerd thing and say, "You need x stars on y territory."

Strategy squad then puts their numbers into the assignment site and the site automatically distributes people based on the numbers input. Once quotas are full, they can be adjusted. So if we have a bunch of players early in the day, strategy squad decides, "Let's bump up stars on y territory."

See? Not so easy, is it?

The territories are named…

The territories are named based on what team owned them when the game started. So Ann Arbor is still called Michigan, even though we don't own it. So when you are asked to attack or defend, it doesn't matter whether the team is still in play. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and select your assignment!

Not mad...yet. But Hawaii is theirs and SDSU is ours. There have been a couple turns where rogues from both our sides have messed with that, and we've successfully restored order the next turn. Let's keep that up.

This is my first and last time getting the posting to mgo job. But, seriously, if anyone from the mgoteam wants some feedback from a person whose job is user experience, reach out to me. I have so much to say just from posting one single thing!

Have you read Nudge? I really like the idea that we can "nudge" people to do the right thing while still making it completely optional.

Oh No with Ross and Carrie's latest episode interviewing (and eventually confronting) a charlatan claiming she can cure Corona over Skype.

Nope, haven't been taking anything.

I tried to get my company to buy me a green screen as needed equipment to work from home, but they refused. I don't know if it's my camera or my teeth, but I can't get backgrounds to work for me without a green screen. I just end up with the background all over my face.

Well I lost my sense of…

Well I lost my sense of smell and taste last night, so things have gotten kinda serious over here. Luckily I'm not in the US so I was able to get tested today.

Again, she's probably not…

Again, she's probably not being rational about anything right now. Try presenting it not from a financial aspect but a safety one. A 6 week old baby just died in Connecticut. Women who go into labor right now are not allowed to bring anyone with them to the hospital to support. Right now we're being told it could be 18 months before the world goes back to normal. Does she want to get pregnant today and have to give birth alone in the riskiest place for your baby to be?

Though consider what her…

Though consider what her mental state might be right now. This may be how she's reacting to what's going on in the world and her ultimatum may not be as ultimate when she gets a chance to recover mentally. So I wouldn't advise to begin ending the relationship just yet.

I'm enjoying the isolation…

I'm enjoying the isolation part, but I'm starting to freak out about my physical health, as I have a bunch of symptoms, but not fever, and I feel like I probably have a mild case, or the beginnings of COVID. Or else I just got fucked by getting a normal cold during the middle of a pandemic.

If this is a good thread for…

If this is a good thread for compiling fixes that are needed, if you use mgoblog in Safari, anytime you leave the window and return, the page jumps to the top of the page. So if you were in the middle of reading a long post, go to check something else, then come back, you are now at the top of the page. Really great design!

At least we would never have to play him. But, man, I would be so pissed off if he made them national contenders.

Need advice. I have a call with a new coworker and a client in about an hour. New coworker is an MSU grad who I have never spoken to before. Do I mention football or no?

I just finished Devil in the…

I just finished Devil in the Grove about Thurgood Marshall and the Groveland Boys. It was fascinating and horrifying.

I would tell everyone to give The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. a try, even if you aren't a huge fiction reader. Totally worth it.

I couldn't put Gone Girl…

I couldn't put Gone Girl down but I hated it so much because every character needed to lose, but the worst of them won. Ugh.

Dark Places was much more enjoyable for me, but Sharp Objects was my favorite.

Beartown was a really well…

Beartown was a really well written book, but it was just so hard for me to read due to the subject matter. It was too real for me. I decided not to read the follow up because of that.

But I read his other two books and agree they are great. The very realness of them was on matters that I, at least, can read with greater ease.

Shockingly, he appears to have retweeted someone saying Michigan should be #1. We'll see how he ends up voting, though.

The Last Podcast on the Left…

The Last Podcast on the Left on the case is a good listen.

This is really a story of HORRIBLE police work. They didn't secure the crime scene. No one bothered to search the house for hours. Other stuff I can't remember.

But my conclusion is that it was not someone from within the family, but it was due to the father's shady business dealings.

This is what my cousin did…

This is what my cousin did when she was living somewhere in Germany for a couple years. (I think it may have been Heidelberg.) Her boyfriend was a contractor for the DoD which is why she moved there, and he was able to help her get a job.

Everyone else has already…

Everyone else has already addressed the issues of finding work and a visa (though I'm surprised you think Red Wings front office and school teacher would be easily transferrable to a foreign country) so I'll tell you how to be the best dad ever: Get a Slingbox and hook it up to your cable. My dad actually only pays for cable so that I can watch sports on the Slingbox. That's how I know he loves me.

I would think we have room…

I would think we have room on the bball team if that's the deciding factor. Get Howard out there.

The live feed is on a delay,…

The live feed is on a delay, but the graphics ESPN posts are not. Or there's a conspiracy. Not sure which.

Florida schools are back in…

Florida schools are back in session second week of August, so third week of August is already considered mid-crowds, not high-crowds. Disney actually expected lighter crowds this summer due to people waiting for Galaxy Edge to open and were offering promotions they usually offer during the slow fall months for summer. Since I'm going a mere two weeks before Galaxy Edge, I think it's a valid to hold a small hope that some of the regular summer crowd will be waiting to take their trip over Labor Day weekend instead.

TCU had to cancel their…

TCU had to cancel their spring game because they do not have enough healthy players to field both sides. So, it could be worse.

Disney. Hottest time of the…

Disney. Hottest time of the year, but hoping the crowds may be a little bit lighter than usual, since we are going just before the new Star Wars stuff opens, so people may be delaying so they can catch that. Maybe.

I'm guessing it's a reference to the AD, not Hoiberg.

The standard advice is…

The standard advice is career changers need to go full time, career advancers should go part time. How did the career change work for you going part time?

Specifically commercial…

Specifically commercial flights. As we also know from Michigan basketball, private pilots and planes are not always as safe.

For seeds, yes. But even the…

For seeds, yes. But even the brackets analysts put out when the conference tourneys are done or mostly done are still frequently way off with exact match ups. Particularly because it's easy to guess who is #1, 2, 3, 4, maybe even 5, 6, but beyond that, while you can say who is in the top 64 or so, saying who is 25 vs 26 is much harder. So giving any credence to saying that Michigan will be playing SDSU in Des Moines is what I think is silly.

I think paying attention to…

I think paying attention to match-ups in bracketology, especially beyond the first round, is a waste of time. Who is in and approximately what seeds are projected is about as much credence as I give to these.

Definitely PITA, but if you…

Definitely PITA, but if you have some flexibility with working hours so you can avoid traffic it will at least but just a PITA and not a HUGE PITA.

(I was living in Royal Oak when I got a job in AA and tried to stick out my lease for six months, but lasted one week before breaking my lease.)

Quinoa, cucumbers, tomatoes,…

Quinoa, cucumbers, tomatoes, baby peppers (the ones that a little bit spicy), chickpeas, and homemade hummus. Layer it in a glass tupperware. At work I toss it all in a bowl and add a bit of olive oil and salt. Delicious.

Are all PATs 2PT? And are they done from 8 yards out? (Trying to understand how Deveon can have 1 reception and 1 2PT under receptions and 8 yards.)
