Risk Day 27 - It's Michigan vs. OSU. Let's Do This.
Last night, College Football Risk turned into the B1G. Michigan and Ohio State saw large spikes in power as a number of 3-stars turned into 4-stars, while the rest of the Risk world lagged behind. Additionally, Wolverine and Buckeyes now represent over 40% of non-Chaos players. In other words, there is a Big 2 in the game, and it's likely going to be either the Maize and Blue or the Scarlet and Gray that takes home the win.
And we now know exactly what a "win" would look like. Yesterday, the Risk moderators announced that this Round will end after turn 50. Period. In other words, we're already halfway through the game. Once turn 50 hits, whoever has the most territories is the winner.
So what does that mean for you? It means there's more urgency to play consistently. Every one of next 25 turns is that much more valuable for building up your star power. And if you've played enough to become a 3-star, but you miss a turn, you've undercut your contribution by at least 20% (since it takes 5 turns in a row to get 3-stars in that category). If this paragraph is confusing, here's the tl;dr summary: PLAY CONSISTENTLY.
We're in the final stretch and every bit of star power is important if we want to win and -- nearly as important -- deny Ohio State bragging rights. Please keep playing, please keep recruiting, and let's put ourselves in the best position over the next 3+ weeks to take the title to Ann Arbor (and then keep it safely quarantined in Schembechler Hall until it's safe to play sports again). Go Blue!

Day 50? Boo! Why? That's not even as far as we got last year, and this year there's a lot less competition for everybody's attention.
I say we should go until there's a winner or actual games start.

Wow, we had a tough roll yesterday, didn't we? Gained OSU in players and star power, but yet lost territories.

It happens. It'll likely balance out.

Limiting the game to 50 turns is stupid. That isn't enough time to balance out the randomness.

We're already pretty close to stalemate. It gets progressively less fun once there's 5 or 6 teams just trading territories back and forth. There will likely be another "season" of it, especially if the actual season is delayed.
Can confirm, there will be another season. At the moment, it looks like it'll take place in the fall if the college football season doesn't happen. If not, it'll be back next year
Can you get them to fix the map before then? :) Judging by the rules they appear to be using for the rest of the US, the Upper Peninsula should be part of Central Michigan's territory, not Wisconsin's.
If they don't like the stalemates, they should tweak the rules to make it easier for one team to win -- a team multiplier for holding X territories or cumulative star power, or the defense bonus is scaled by the number of teams alive (bigger bonus at the start of the game, and it drops after), or something. Limiting it to an arbitrary number of turns is less fun.
always watched these CFB Risk threads but finally decided to join in on the fun this year, leggo!
question for you techies, from the computer equivalent of fred flintstone. i can log in on my work computer, no problem, takes about 30 seconds and go blue, beat whatever random team i was assigned to attack. however, when i use a phone at home here, i hit our 'michigancfbrisk' link, no problem. i get an assignment - attack random team, no problem. but when i go to hit the little bar that says something like 'play your turn today', i hit that and get sent to a thing that says...sign in with reddit and not the list of teams that i can pick and attack. i am in an endless loop. sad face here.
solution? thank you.
Solution should be to sign in with reddit. You have to click the little reddit dude's head, and then you get taken to a page where you confirm that you want to share your reddit information with collegefootballrisk.com , and then you should be able to proceed. You did that on your work computer too, but it might have been a while ago. :)
thank you J. i have done exactly that probably 6 or 8 times, using my phone and then mrs. XM's phone and still i get taken to a screen that has a football field as a background and 4 rectangular boxes that show things like 'sign in with reddit', 'time left in this turn', etc.
You may have something on your phones that block cookies. Only thing I can think of.
Try loading the Reddit app on your phone and login to Reddit through the app. That might resolve the issue with your phone recognizing the Reddit login when you go to CFB Risk to enter your attack/defend order. I'm no expert, but I recall some wacky issues the first few days I tried to enter a move from my phone.
user name checking out. thank you.

Why in the world does a day end at 11 pm instead of midnight? Missed playing "yesterday" by 20 minutes. Thought I was great for remembering to log in before midnight...

To be honest, it's more for our sake than anyone else's. We stay up til 3AM planning our strategy and doing diplomacy (which is why our orders go out so early). The game devs have it set to 11 so we can at least get an extra hour of sleep and pretend to be rational people.
Sorry about that, but it can't really be helped
Fair enough, I'm just salty about losing a 21 day streak
