Sparty Schadenfreude

Submitted by Lie-Cheat-Steal on

After the fluke dropped punt loss to Sparty, all their close wins, and all their boasting about the lucky win, yesterday provided sweet karmic justice.  Their reaction to the loss (Plaxico, Jamele Hill) is just further evidence of their little bro status and mentality.

With Harbaugh just starting to create his monster in Ann Arbor, and Urbz being Urbz in C-Bus, writing is on the wall for Sparty, especially with Cook leaving this year.  Back to mediocrity and even more national irrelevance in the coming years.

I could not scour through enough RCMB last night, as the schadenfreude of not only their loss, but the way in which they lost (and attempts to distinguish it from their fluke win in Ann Arbor) made the tears that much more delicious.

Please share your favorite Sparty schadenfreude memes, posts, twitters, etc here below.  I simply can not get enough, and I doubt TWIS will have all of the good stuff, as there is just too much right now.

I was in Phoenix Thursday night and went to Coldstone after a unhealthy cheeseburger and fries dinner, and decided to top it off with some chocolate ice cream.

When the server asked me it I wanted anything mixed in, I replied (dressed in Michigan gear as usual), "The tears of the Michigan State Spartans."

THERE IS A GOD!!!

You are right of course.  There is, however, something very troubling about a belief that a Spartan is in control of anything, much less his own destiny.

I thought for an instant about returning the unclassy texts I received rubbing in the Spartan-UM final right after it happened.  Then I remembered what they made me feel like, and I resisted the temptation.

No reason to gloat, but there is a little spring in my step today!

They still beat us. I fail to see the significance of this thread. We should have won, but didn't. I think this kind of shit makes us look stupid.

You know how you wake up Sunday morning after a big loss and you feel okay for a few seconds -- until your brain reminds you of the outcome of the game from the night before -- then you start feeling pissed all over again?

Today I woke up and thought about all of the Sparties waking up with that exact feeling this morning and it made me feel warm inside.

for a while now. Until it actually happens, I'm going to give respect where repect is due and say they'll probably find people to fill in and win a lot of games. Unfortunately.

My point is they aren't gonna hit on every single under the radar recruit.  They lose arguably the best QB in school history, as well as a number of other NFL players at WR, DL, and OL.  Their secondary has been abysmal this year, their running game is nowhere near what it used to be with Bell and Langford, and their coaching generally seems worse this year than last, probably in no small part to losing their former DC.  Logic would dictate that they'll take a significant step back next year.

This.  Again and again.  I know Dantonio deserves credit (I feel dirty now), and I ,don't think the program will be terrible after this year, but they obviously miss Narduzzi and their secondary recruiting hits have been replaced by (so far) misses.  I know we all have reservations about calling our shot, but this could be the worst team Jimmy fields from a talent perspective, and we've seen what he does with middle of the road recruits, let alone a top ten (maybe top five after it's all done) class.  I just don't see MSU keeping up with Michigan, but they may hold steady in the 3-4 spot in the division.

loses a lot of his very best players; he's recruiting better, but I don't think those classes are ready to help out a lot where they really need the help.  As we know, you cannot poop a starting quarterback.  I think he'll be hard-pressed to hit 8-4, and  would expect them to land at 7-5 or 6-6.  If he can get 8 or 9 wins out of what he will fiedl next year, he is as good as his press clippings.

Let's be honest here.  MSU's rise came in large part because Michigan and Penn State entered down periods.  Michigan is obviously on its way back, Penn State may be (I'm not sold on Franklin).  It's the same thing with like Baylor and TCU, if Texas ever get their heads out of their asses then those 2 programs will fall back.  There's a natural order to college football, and that dictates that Michigan is the national power in the state and MSU is at best a second rate program.  Occasionally that order will deviate but eventually will correct itself.

They lost to a 3-6 team after skating by against teams like Rutgers, Purdue, WMU, and CMU. I feel like people on here always have to defend them. Last year we were way worse than them. The year before they were way better than us. This year they just aren't a good team that got a lucky break against us after getting handed 10 points by the officials earlier in the game.
