FREE PRESS EXCLUSIVE:

Brian Cook's Wedding
Logo Finally Revealed!

ANN ARBOR, MI--  Early this morning, an anonymous source with ties to MGoBlog confirmed that an official logo has been created for Brian Cook's Wedding, AND even supplied us with a link to the image.  Official sources have neither confirmed or denied its authenticity, and even TomVH and Misopogon declined comment.

[SPOILER ALERT] The image is displayed below:

Brian's Gettin' Married!!!!!!!!

According to the anonymous source, official replicas of the groomsmen jackets may be inadvertently displayed by MDen as early as Thursday.  Look for Mike Rosenberg's exclusive rebuttal of the entire institution of marriage in tomorrow's Free Press, as we continue our exclusive coverage of the Brian Cook Wedding.

On behalf of all of us, Brian, congratulations!  You sacrifice ungodly amounts of your free time in the name of sports and our entertainment, and certainly that time also belongs to your fiance as well.  So thank you, and above all else, detach and enjoy the honeymoon together.

Best wishes,

Six Zero

PS.  I'd like to encourage all readers to treat this post as a guestbook of sorts for the happy couple.  After all, this is like the Royal Wedding of MGoBlog...

I would have killed for a wedding logo this well done.  Kudos to you good sir.  And kudos again.

Also, in this logo, Brian looks like his cousin Murray, who used to run a chain of discount auto parts stores here in Metro Detroit:

There's still a few left, at least two or three that I've seen, although the only one whose location I can recall with particularity is the one on Eight Mile in Warren. Having frequented the Murray's in Madison Heights with my dad as a kid, I have fond memories of Murray's, and it always brightens my day a little to see one that isn't an O'Reilly's yet.*

*Not that I have anything against O'Reilly's in particular, I just like Murray's for having that slightly gritty, old-school motor city feel to them.

Has she agreed to let you take a temporary leave of absence as her husband every Saturday this fall?

In all seriousness though, congratulations! Still too young for this marriage bussiness..

Um, Brian?  I just wanted to let you know that I haven't received my invitation yet.  I know it was just probably got lost in the mail, but could you get that to me soon so I know where to show up?  It is open bar, correct?

Congrats

If there's anything wedding planning teaches you, it's that everybody expects you to milk them for presents leading up to this (but only this) occasion. MGoBrian should have a tailgate-style MGoShower at the ND game. If only MDen had a registry...

Congrats Brian!  Here's hoping that you've met a woman as understanding as mine that allows you to yell, stomp, curse (generally act like a little child) 10-12 Saturdays in the fall and still sticks around!

Thanks so much for everything you do, Brian. This place saves me from work for the summer and it will save me from school in the fall. Most of my time is spent here, and it's always good to read what you have to say.

Congratulations, and we all wish you nothing but the best.

Brian can't keep his mind off the impending wedding night, and she's already into the Valium to prepare for the indignities he's got planned.

I mostly remember Brian as a high school senior who could care less about gnat-like freshmen (like me) on the quiz bowl team. He probably still doesn't give a damn about gnat-like, sub-100 point posters (like me) but that won't prevent me from wishing him congratulations and nothing but the best in marriage, life and -- hopefully from here on out -- Michigan football. Godspeed and Go Blue!

It's funny although I come here everyday I have only posted one or twice but I also am getting married this weekend so I wanted to wish you well and hopefully we both make it through this weekend alive.

may I offer Lyndon Johnson's views on how to have a good marriage:

"I have learned that only two things are necessary to keep one's wife happy. First, let her think she's having her own way. And second, let her have it."

I'm about to hit my 10th anniversary and one thing that has been absolutely essential is always letting her win... which is not easy to do.

The day before my wedding, my Dad's best friend told me that no matter what, regardless if you really believe you're right or not, life will be much better if you just practice these three prhases:

1) You're right

2) I'll try harder

3) I'm sorry

And what's really amazing, he said, is that you can mix them up in any order so sometimes you say, "You're right.  I'm sorry.  I'll try harder."  And other times you say, "I'm sorry.  You're right.  I'll try harder."   You get the picture.

So, 10 years later, I can report back that my Dad's friend was right.  This really works and even though it is completely transparent (you do have to sound sincere when you say it), it helps end any argument.

So, hopefully this helps you guys as you start your own journey.  It has been wonderful for me through thick and thin.

Best of luck, congratulations!

I see you were smarter than me when I inadvertently scheduled my wedding for the "Big Chill."  Well let's just say that though the wedding was great and I married a great woman, nothing would've compared to being at the big chill.  Once again, I say CONGRATS!!!!!
