Big Ten Recruiting Rankings: 6-10-12
Michigan picks up a commitment and there's a change at the two-spot in this week's recruiting rankings. To answer your question, no, Indiana still doesn't have a commit. Yes, I'm pretty sure they still have a football program. Changes since the last rankings:
6-4-12: Penn State picks up Neiko Robinson.
6-6-12: Michigan picks up Scott Sypniewski. Penn State picks up William Fuller.
6-7-12: Notre Dame picks up Isaac Rochell.
6-8-12: Northwestern picks up Tyler Lancaster, Brad North, and Macan Wilson.

Indiana is the lone Big Ten school without a commit.
Maybe my internal recruiting clock is off in the Hoke era where we have 15 or so guys in the class by April, but what's up with Indiana? I see from their rivals page that they have a few offers out, but if I were JamieMac or any other Hoosier fan I'd be panicked that, with other schools jumping in early, that they'll be scambling for leftovers.
Is Indiana ever not scrambling for leftovers?
The long nightmare ended today as Indiana picked up their first commit, Isaac Griffith, a 3 star WR out of Ft Wayne.
Ace,
What do you know about these Jaron Dukes rumors?
Allen Trieu says they're not true($). That's all I know, but I trust him. From my experience speaking to Jaron, I'd be shocked if he was anything but 100% solid, and I don't see this staff as the type that would cool on a commit.
All of those rumors were started by a buckeye 'insider' anyway...soo they probably shoulda been taken with a grain of salt from the get-go
If anyone wants to see what they're talking about they can go to the OSU Scout free boards and witness some pure idiocy. BTW NevadaBuck is an OSU "insider" who claims to know what he's talking about. Called Pocic a lock for Ohio and now this...what a tool.
He did not call Pocic a lock to OSU you stupid fuck. Don't spout your ignorance when you have no idea what you're talking about.
This is really lame to start bad rumors about a kid. Aren't there criminal defamation laws to prevent stuff like this from getting out of hand?
Could you provide a link to that site? I'm fairly new to the mgoblog community and the related following of recruiting. As such, I'm not sure what you mean by the OSU Scout free boards.
Thanks!

It looks like they deleted all the Michigan fan's comments.
Wow... I have to say, after reading that, it makes me really thankful for this board. Are those people for real?
I think I lost like 40 IQ points just reading those comments about Hoke and his track record of over-signing. WAT.
The most hilarious thing in that board is:
Hoke cutting another lower-ranked recruit to make room for a higher ranked recruit? We've seen this move over and over and over again by Hoke. It is only a matter a time before recruits, commits, and coaches jump ship and refuse to talk to Michigan coaches because of dirty recruiting tactics. I wonder what Michigan commits we can land now.
This is what Nick Saban does all the time in the guise of medical hardships, and recruits are still clamoring to go there. Of course we know that Hoke does not (and would not) do this, but I find that logic hilarious. It's the same reason USC can land two elite running backs in the same year. Every recruit thinks they're the best... so even coaches with a reputation for cutting the chaff still get excellent recruits, simply because every recruit thinks they're excellent.
Has it actually been confirmed that this guy already got a scholarship? It just seems so counter intuitive at this point that like a lot of other people on this board said, it could be one of those conditional scholarships if we don't fill spots. If there isn't anything beyond the kid saying he got a scholarship, then I think he should be under that preferred walk on category.
He's on full scholarship. That's been confirmed by multiple outlets.
1st) It has been confirmed by others that he got the offer. Guys like Sam Webb have sources inside Schemmy Hall and would have been tipped off it the kid was just making it up.
2nd) We don't normally have anyone's word but the kid's anyway, for any of our recruits. Just because you don't want him to take up a scholarship, doesn't mean he doesn't have one and is a walk-on.
Can we please make it an MGoRule to never, ever refer to Schembechler Hall as SchemmyHall? That's one of the things I loathe about the Scout boards. Not to mention I feel it demeans one of the greatest names in Michigan football history.
Sorry bout that, consider me a changed man.
Since that's what he called his son. (give or take an "m")
The long snapper addition sure made our averages look funny - almost more meaningful to exclude him from the averages . . .
That would put us at 3.84 for the average of averages.
Agreed. Common sense says that any LS receiving a full scholarship by non-MSU BCS school is an automatic 4 star.
Iowa State received their first football verbal for 2013 putting them one up on Indiana. We are spoiled here in the land of Hoke
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Trevor-Hodge-140609
Hoke is recruiting on an unpecedented level. We have always been a good recruiting school. However, if you go back and look at the classes from 2000 on up we were never really top 5 elite. And obviously toward the end of Carrs career we still recruited elite in the Big 10, but not consistently top 5 nationally. I fancy myself a fanatic but also realistic M fan. And I have to say I think Brady Hoke has a chance to make himself one of the legends of M football coaches. Obviously, it's only his second season but he is setting himself up to have elite teams talent wise over the next few years.
Do I sense the tide of the rivalry changing?
There must be a change in the tide, I can't find a jersey anywhere.
I'm not really surprised by IUs slow start, but I'm more surprised by Minnesota. By all the accounts I've read, Jerry Kill is considered a great hire by the Gophers. I would have thought Minnesota kids would hop on board.
Also, that comment blockquoted by RyeBreadBoy makes my blood boil. I know I shouldn't get worked up about what some internet Buckeye fanboy has to say, but son of a *****, nearly every word that jackass wrote is false. All the more reason to hate Ohio State.
http://annarbor.com/sports/um-football/brady-hoke-offers-up-tom-bradys-…
(Though I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about Ace specifically)
Thanks for posting that. It's not suprising that Hoke and staff pay no attention to the star ratings.
